This is a well-done middle age book. The narration is great. It was difficult to stop listening to this one because of the great story and the presentation. It is a wonderful mystery for kids. It also has great riddles, codes and puzzles that are interesting along with the story that youth will enjoy. It is great for the age group. The story is perfect, but the other elements are challenging enough as well. The characters and story are not only well developed, but well written too.

I wasn’t able to get the audio to download on netgalley so i got it as an audio from my library. Y his is perfect for younger middle graders too. I would recommend the print version so you could see the codes etc. I really enjoyed this book, the characters were well developed and the puzzle was interesting. This was a fast paced story and perfect for readers looking for a middle grade mystery.

The best part of this was seeing the strengths of each kid and watching them come together to figure out what really happened to Virginia and the treasure. There are also quirky side characters staying in the hotel and I enjoyed guessing which of them were up to no good.

Great book to read with the younger/middle age readers. I am tempted to see if my own child would want to listen to this one. Narrator did a good job as well. Thanks for the chance to review.

My children loved this book!!!! They really tried to figure a lot of the mystery out while they were listening and we ended up buying it in print to look over. The narration was excellent.

The Explorer's code is a fast paced middle-grade mystery. The three kids in the story are Charlie who is a math wizard because of whom the family has won the stay at the mansion where the story is based, Anna the elder sister who is always breaking rules and Emily who wants to save the mansion as a historical monument.
These three kids put together their strengths to decode the mystery of the mansion

Absolutely brilliant narration of The Explorer's Code! I was so caught up in these kids mystery and couldn't put it down. This book had me from page one - mysterious manor? Riddles and puzzles that keep the kids on their toes? Sounds right up my alley! I loved how the twists and turns weren't just for shock factor but actually propelled the story forward and I think the mystery was super advanced and not too easy to guess for a middle grade audience. I wish we would have gotten even more time with these unique characters but they definitely jumped off the page anyway!
Can't wait to read more by Hymas!

This was such a fun Middle Grade mystery! And while there are parts that don't lend well to the audiobook format (mainly when the codes are being listed/noted it gets tedious to listen to a string of letters and numbers being read out loud) overall I think this a great mix of daring adventure and using your brain to solve clues. Maybe it'll even encourage kids to learn how to write and read coded messages!

Laci Morgan does a good job with the audiobook and Hymas made me jealous that as a reader, I couldn't explore Idlewood Manor myself!

As homeschoolers, we love books. But sometimes mom can't read aloud every book that we want to enjoy. I loved the audiobook of The Explorer's Code as did my children.

A weekend at Idlewood Manor sounds like fun. Three kids, Charlie, Anna, and Emily are in for an adventure as they try to crack codes around the property. We all got in on trying to help solve the codes and puzzles as we listened to the book during lunch each day.

Thank you NetGalley and Orange Sky Audio for the gifted book!

If you want the National Treasure of middle grade books, look no further. The Explorers Code follows 3 kids as they each independently discover the secrets that Idlewood Manor has in store. The puzzles require knowledge of history, math, and code breaking. Plus they may have to have a little physical daring as well.

I enjoyed how each of the 3 kids had to embrace who they are, as well trust themselves to get to the bottom of the mystery.

If you love puzzles and codes, then this fun mystery is for you! The Explorer’s Code by Allison Hymas and narrated by Laci Morgan takes us to Idlewood Manor, where adventure and intrigue await. Charlie is a bookish math nerd who loves cryptography and Anna is his adventurous sister. Joining the quest to discover the secrets of Idlewood is Emily, daughter to historians interested in preserving the house.

The book takes us through exploration of the fascinating property. There are codes to crack, lies to uncover, and plenty of mysteries to solve. I loved seeing the strengths of each kid shine through as they learn about themselves and each other. The narration was fast paced and held my interest throughout.

This is a light and enjoyable read or listen, with riddles and twists to keep you interested. (Many thanks to NetGalley, Imprint/Macmillan, and OrangeSky Audio for providing an ARC of this title. All opinions are entirely my own and given voluntarily.)

This was a really fun mystery. Kids and puzzles in an old manor? You got to expect shenanigans. The audiobook was also nicely narrated which added to my enjoyment.

Charlie, Emily and Anna all ended up at Idlewood Manor for the weekend, a formerly glorious house of wealth and intrigue plagued by scandal. Each of them goes about uncovering clues in the house’s remnants, though in their own way. It isn’t until they come together that they are able to truly understand the mystery left behind in a series of codes, paintings, journals, hidden doorways and preserved artifacts. The Explorer’s Code is a bit predictable, but still a good story for kids about how much we can accomplish when we work together.

I love listening to these children’s books in the classroom. It has really helped my teaching experience and the kids love them. It gives them a break from actually having to read but they are still able to get the reading experience through audio

Super cute book for a younger audience! Absolutely loved the narration and thought the characters were great!

The premise of this book sounded so promising. The mysterious old manor, the riddles and the puzzles and a bunch of kids trying to figure it all out.

It reminded me of some of my favorite middle grades when I was growing up. If nothing else, I wanted to give it a chance for the nostalgia's sake.

And for the most part, this book was exactly what I was hoping for. It reminded me a lot of Enid Blyton, only with riddles. Just a bunch of kids solving mysteries. Maybe a little naive, but still cute and fun.

Speaking of riddles and equations, I think it was a mistake to listen this book as an audiobook. Even though I really liked the narrator, because of all the letters and numbers, I think it would have been better if I just read it physically and had the codes in front of my eyes.

But I enjoyed it this way too. I loved how distinctive the characters were, each's strengths nicely complemented the others' weaknesses. I just wished they'd joined forces a bit earlier into the book, as I really liked their dynamic and wanted to see more of it.

Also, the mystery was better than what I usually get in middle grades. Maybe not as heart-quickening as thriller murder mysteries, but still exciting and fun to unravel.

Honestly, I thought this book was great. I don't think it's for everyone. But if you read the blurb, saw the words like middle grade, old manor, mystery and secret codes and ciphers, and still wanted to read it, I think you would really enjoy it. The story is exactly what it sounds like, and it was pretty well written.

Thank you to the #NetGalley and to the author and publisher for providing me with an audiobook version of The Explorer's Code by Allison K. Hymas in exchange for an honest review.

The Explorer's Code by Alison K. Hymas is a middle grade adventure centered around two siblings, Charlie and Anna while they visit the mysterious Idlewood Manor.
We also get the point of view of Emily, who wants to help her parents find proof that Idlewood is worthy of preservation.

Charlie, Anna and Emily are all conducting their own investigations to uncover the various mysteries of Idlewood, and each of them have their strengths and weaknesses. I admit I was particularly fond of the timid but very clever Charlie. It is quickly apparent that they are each discovering vital pieces of the puzzle, but will need each other to complete the whole picture.

The audiobook is narrated by Laci Morgan and it was an exciting listen. Some of the puzzles and ciphers might have been easier to understand if seen visually. But overall, I enjoyed the listening experience.
I especially enjoyed the large manor house setting and the variety of clues and puzzles.

I recieved an advance audio copy for review, and thank OrangeSky Audio and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen and give my thoughts about this title.

It's intresting but predictable!! And the chapters tired me a little. There were too long and it just got frustrating at some times. I usually have no problem with long chapters but I guess it was tiring because it was in audio format.

As much as I love audiobooks, this one contained cyphers and code-breaking. I think that reading it visually would be more fun to participate in figuring out the puzzles. That being said, the audiobook was well done and Laci Morgan did a great job narrating.

Idlewood Manor invites several guests. I don't want to divulge any spoilers and the author does a great job revealing clues slowly throughout the book. I really love how the author describes the details of the rooms and the Manor. I also love how there are ties to a female explorer who disappeared decades ago. This children's audiobook held my attention.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher OrangeSky Audio and the author Allison K. Hymas for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest review. Publication date is right around the corner on 15 June 2021!
