*Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc. All thoughts are my own.*
I've been reading more romances with different takes this year than I have seen before. An interior designer was something new for me and while it started as enemies to lovers, it was not enemies through as much of the book as I expected.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Not an all time favorite, but still very enjoyable. I did find that some of the ways the pet names were felt a little cringey to me, but that was probably just the audiobook narrator's voice that made it feel that way to me.
The plotline with the main characters mom did feel a little rushed and at times took a back seat. It was almost unnecessary. On the flip side, the issues with the main male characters dad were only every talked about and never actually brought to light, which is something I would have liked to see.
Overall, four stars. I will be looking to see what else Sophie Sullivan writes.
Grace is in interior design school and recently inherited a house that she's working on fixing up. The only issue with this seems to be her annoying neighbor Noah who is making his intentions clear that he wants the house. Noah is a real estate developer and once he sets his eyes on something he's like a dog with a bone and it seems Grace really knows how to push his buttons.
Okay so if your a fan of The Hating Game or a fan of enemies to lovers troupe you're not going to want to miss this one. Clearly I'm a fan I really loved this book, it was such a fun read from start to finish. I loved how resourceful Grace was she rarely let anything get in her way the only issue she seemed to be having was in the romance department and after seeing how things were for her mother she wasn't interested. Then there was the bull headed Noah who just wouldn't let the house go managing to find his match in someone who just won't let him have what he wants. I thought it was interesting seeing that whole thing with the magazine article kinda getting them work together and that whole opposites working together thing. There was plenty of great moments and challenging moments that test what's going on in their personal life as well as what is starting to form in between the two and I was here for all of that and I enjoyed it immensely. Overall great book highly recommend!
How To Love Your Neighbor
By Sophie Sullivan
I do love the grumpy neighbor and slowly winning his heart trope - I loved how Sophie Sullivan peeled the layers on these characters - also great to see Noah's character was from "Ten Rules for Faking It" - Chris' brother. The truth is, this book was definitely more fun for me and I really loved the great chemistry and engaging storyline. I just could not get enough of this story. If you love home improvement shows like those in HGTV then this is for you. I love that the setting is in SoCal, my hometown.
I was astonished at how quickly this reeled me in. A little bit of a fun twist on the enemies to lovers tropes, It is the perfect hate to love story with a little family drama added in. Noah and Grace have great chemistry and their storyline was engaging and fun. The supporting characters are richly written and I found out this is a second book in a possible series, so now I need to go back and read about Chris and Everly's love story. Morty was a personal favorite of mine. A light, easy, consuming read.
Thank you Net Galley and St. Martin’s Press for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This was fine. There was nothing particularly memorable about it, the enemies-to-lovers didn't really work for me, because they were barely enemies before they were dating. Grace annoyed me with her "I don't need any help, I can do everything on my own" attitude. I didn't like that Noah's confrontation with his father happened off the page, I feel like that could have been an interesting scene. I would recommend this to someone who was looking for off the page intimacy, but that part didn't work for me either. Overall it was just, fine.
Thanks to netgalley. What a cute book! This was first book I’ve read of this author, and would continue to read their books. I laughed out loud and got all the feels. Very uplifting, adorable read.
Very cute and sweet romcom. Slightly enemies to lovers with lots of cute moments in between. Highly recommended
What a fun concept!! I really enjoyed the almost HGTV aspect of this book. So much fun! I love all of Sophie's books!
Cute and easy read with an enemies to lovers storyline. Overall I enjoyed it but it wasn’t a standout for me among other romances books I’ve read this year.
I enjoyed this book so much more than I thought I would.
It’s the love story of Grace and Noah. Grace, an interior designer, inherited her grandparent’s fixer-upper house on the beach, and Noah is her real estate developer neighbor who wants to buy her house so he can improve his property. Grace and Noah are in a feud fixing up their properties when they finally decide to throw in the towel and decide to help each other out.
This is a enemies to lovers book filled with DIY, home renovation/HGTV vibes. Once Grace and Noah stopped bickering, they had the sweetest relationship. I really loved the design backdrop of the storyline and it was fun seeing both their houses improve and their relationship develop through the process. There was also fun scene dealing with paint. It was a charming read!
A huge thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an advaned copy in exchange for an advance copy.
This story was so cute. I love a good enemies to lover trope and that’s what this was. It reminded me of Tools of Engagement with less heat. This was cute read that I read during a whole weekend. Highly recommend for those who are seeing a cute weekend read or quick beach read.
If you like HGTV or home renos and the enemies to lovers trope, this is a must-read for you!
Grace Travis is an interior design student finishing up school, while working as a barista, dog walker, and anything else she can do to get her degree and dream job. Enter, Noah Jansen, a real estate developer who is used to getting whatever he wants by throwing money at it. When Grace inherits her grandparent’s home, she’s unaware that she’s also going to inherit Noah, who wants to buy the property to expand his own. Not very neighbourly of him..
I enjoyed this book, it was a like an afternoon tea, cosy and much-needed! It was sweet with a little sap, and it was a fun read. While I didn’t realise that this is a somewhat series, I’d love to go back and read Ten Rules for Faking It, but reading that first does not matter as this is a great standalone novel.
I love a grumpy Hero. This was such a cute story. I loved it! Can’t believe I forgot to post my review but I read this in one day. Can’t wait to read more from this author! Definitely worth picking up.

I can't believe I forget to review this book until now! "How To Love Your Neighbor" by Sophie Sullivan was a great follow-up to Sullivan's "Ten Rules For Faking It", which I was also fortunate to read early thanks to Net Galley + the publisher).
Home reno rom coms, like "How To Love Your Neighbor" seem to be having their moment as I've read a number of them in recent years. But I'm a sucker for HGTV, so you won't hear me complaining. If you like enemies to lovers, fun best friends, and dogs, then you're going to love reading this book. It's a light fun romp that you can tear through in a single weekend.
Such a cute book. Even as I was sure how it would end, it was very entertaining getting to that point. I loved the little side dramas with their parents and the relationships , friends and family.
This was a very enjoyable read. The characters were well-developed and interesting. The story was good and had a mix of drama, humor and romance. The author did a great job with this one! I highly recommend it.
A story about Grace and Noah who are next door neighbors with killer chemistry.
Grace is going to school to become wants a designer. She inherits her grandparent's beach house (which is next to the gorgeous neighbor) and is excited to design her place.
Noah want's to make a name for himself in business that isn't under the shadow of his father. Along comes a designer magazine who wants to shoot his house and design if uses Grace has his designer. As there sparks turn to passion will Grace be able to get the job done and will Noah be able to commitment to a person.
It was such a fun read and funny at times. I would add this book to the summer tbr pile that we all know you started last year.
Cute story!

"Sophie Sullivan’s writing feels like a warm hug.” —Rachel Lynn Solomon, bestselling author of The Ex Talk
Enemies-to-lovers meets HGTV in this frothy, effervescent romantic comedy from Sophie Sullivan, author of Ten Rules for Faking It.
Interior Design School? Check. Cute house to fix up? Check.
Sexy, grumpy neighbor who is going to get in the way of your plans? Check. Unfortunately.
Grace Travis has it all figured out. In between finishing school and working a million odd jobs, she’ll get her degree and her dream job. Most importantly, she’ll have a place to belong, something her harsh mother could never make. When an opportunity to fix up—and live in—a little house on the beach comes along, Grace is all in. Until her biggest roadblock moves in next door.
Noah Jansen knows how to make a deal. As a real estate developer, he knows when he's found something special. Something he could even call home. Provided he can expand by taking over the house next door--the house with the combative and beautiful woman living in it.
With the rules for being neighborly going out the window, Grace and Noah are in an all-out feud. But sometimes, your nemesis can show you that home is always where the heart is.
An inoffensive little story set in the very popular home renovation world. The mains were likable, the drama was not too dramatic, the romance low-heat.
I didn't really feel the sparks though despite the stakes suggesting that these two had all the ingredients to rub each other the wrong way...all the way to happily ever after. It just didn't click for me.
Thank you to NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are my own.
Grace Travis is finishing interior design school when she gets the news that she’s inherited a small, rundown, beach cottage from her maternal grandparents. Determined to make it her home, she moves in and plans her renovations. Everything is perfect until she meets her grumpy, handsome, next door neighbor, real estate developer, Noah Jansen. He offers to buy her house so he can expand his mini mansion onto her property. Grace doesn’t want to sell or move, however, with just getting started in her career, can she afford to renovate her place? When Noah approaches her with a job opportunity, with the only catch that she’d had to work side by side with him, she can make her dreams a reality. But what if she just can’t get along with him to get the job done?
How to Love Your Neighbor is listed as a rom-com, which it is, but I feel like it’s more chick lit or women’s fiction. Grace had a complete learning and growing arc, as does her neighbor, Noah. I loved their sweet, sexy chemistry and witty banter. The cast of other characters, some we met in her previous book, Ten Rules For Faking It, are funny, smart and endearing. Great overall read!
