This review is a tough one because I don't want to give any spoilers. I loved MOST of the book and the writing was very well done. It's not the light hearted rom-com I thought it would be from the cover and the blurb, but a little deeper than that. I'm giving it 4 stars rather than 5 because I was so frustrated with Zoey I wanted to scream!

Full of witty colloquial, Zoey is a very strong independent woman who chooses to forge her own path. However, that sort of independence comes at a price especially in a relationship where one needs to be accommodating to put the other person's needs before their own. In her fear that Rylan would make her shrink while he remained tall, her comments and lack of certainty in answering his question did harm her through the book. It was sad to see how complicated she made her life in every aspect that caused her to create a mental and emotional shield. However, in thinking she was a creator of bad luck and therefore declaring herself unworthy, I was happy that she realized how much she brought to others lives. Like Hannah, she chose herself to be Forever.

I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and spent a rainy, dreary Sunday reading it from cover to cover and really enjoyed it. Do not be fooled by the quirky synopsis and the cute cover - this is not your standard chick-lit novel. It is romantic, yes, but also moving and insightful and funny.

The protagonist, Zoey Marks, is smart, driven and successful, but also flawed, uncertain and complicated particularly when it comes to love. After spending her life determined never to fall in love and get married, Zoey meets Rylan and falls hopelessly in love with him. What follows is an examination of the social constructs of love and relationships and why expectations often lead to disappointment.

I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it! Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing an advance copy of this book and thank you Alison Greenberg for writing a romance book that breaks all the rules!

I was looking for something light to read and was happy to get this ARC on Netgalley. Thank you to forever publishing for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Zoey Marks, isn't necessarily sold marriage. Although her parents have had happy marriage and a great life together she isn't sure it's something for her. She dated casually and had a great time dating but she really hasn't had anything serious.

She's asked to be a bridesmaid at her friend's wedding, and poof the bride goes and doesn't show up to the wedding. Zoey thinks how crazy this is.. it happens two more times so clearly this can't be a coincidence. So is a definite jinx for weddings.

The story is a bit humorous at times and had me laughing a bit. It's a pleasant read and it is a feel good story and sometimes that's all you want to read. I would give this book 3.75.

It's a cute story that kept me reading and captured my attention.

I DNFed this book at 33%. I just couldn't get into this one. I didn't connect with the main character and she just seemed annoying. I also didn't feel like the book had much of a plot. It just seemed like the author was telling us events instead, "and then this happened". Overall, I think others might enjoy this more than me. It just wasn't a book for me. Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for a copy of the arc in return for an honest review.

This was a good book with great characters. I felt connected to Zoey and Hannah but found myself frustrated at times with Zoey and her unsure path to her forever. Would definitely recommend it to other as a good, quick read.

Love Alison's book not just for the fact that I relate. *cough cough* single Jewish woman, right here! I loved how three dimensional her characters were and can't wait to read more from her.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Griffin and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I thought this one was really cute! It’s easy to read and I love the plot idea of a “cursed bridesmaid”, the concept reminds me so much of 27 Dresses which is a movie I LOVE!

My only issue was that the writing was wordy, especially the beginning where we were getting the set up for the 3 cursed weddings. I was pretty bored and felt like I wanted to skip through it.

Thankyou to Netgalley for the advanced copy of Badluck Bridesmaid by Alison Rose Greenberg. This was such an easy and fun read. The characters are relatable and hilarious.

3.5 stars. This isn’t the laugh out loud rom-com I was expecting, but there are some funny moments. Rather, it’s about how a woman defines what she wants for herself romantically and how conventional norms create undue pressure. Did I love the ending? Not really. Did it make sense? Somewhat. Would any ending satisfy every reader? Nope. In the end though, it worked well enough because it was realistic.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

I wish to thank NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press Publishers for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book. I have voluntarily read and reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

As I sit to write this review I do so with a huge smile on my face. This was a delightfully funny romp and I loved it. It is a book for anyone who needs to just be entertained. It is one you will not put down easily. All of the characters are great, believable and well developed. The main character, Zoey, has been a bridesmaid three times prior and she feels like she has cursed the weddings as no one has made it to the altar. She is now scheduled to be a bridesmaid at her best friend's wedding and is determined to make every effort to make the wedding happen. Will she be able to pull this off? Will she ever be able to make a commitment herself?

Alison does a wonderful job weaving a story that draws you in and holds your enthusiasm until way after the last page. I will read more of her books and look forward to doing so.

Overall the theme of this book is something I enjoyed. I was able to relate Zoey in personal ways but found her character to be a bit frustrating. I liked that the author didn’t have Zoey conform to certain societal standards and I think it added a great element to the story. It wasn’t my favorite read but it’s not a story I regret spending time with.

Due to a family illness, and unexpected events, I am very far behind in writing my reviews.I found my self reading one book after another without writing the review -- that was a big mistake. I really enjoyed this book, and I happily gave it 4 stars.

Sometimes you just need a palate cleanser, 4 stars is a high mark for adult romance most days but this book spoke to me. Spoke about being complicated, about being unwilling to cave to pressure, about being perfectly content with forever on your own terms.

Cynical Zoey is disheartened when three of her good friends’ relationships end on the way to the altar. She begins to wonder if it’s her own attitude on the sanctity of marriage that’s jinxing their unions.

This book has such a cute cover and engaging premise, I expected more than what I got. While there is a character growth scenario, it’s not without an excessive amount of unnecessary swearing and jaunts into Joey’s negative attitude about love.

Rylan is amazing and definitely deserves better than what he received from Joey. She comes across as rather unlikeable and self-centered.

This one fell flat for me.

I received this novel from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Zoey Marks, the main character, has always lived life to her own beat. She never assumed the normal rules for life would necessarily apply to her. Zoey is a successful business woman moving up the ladder at her firm, she has a few firm friendships and is relatively happy with her life. She has, however, never succeeded as a bridesmaid. Every time a friend gets engaged they never quite follow through for a variety of reasons. Zoey feels like this is a sign that relationships don't last.

Rylan is her best friend forever's cousin and she sets up a meeting between him and Zoey and they fall in love. Rylan wants forever, marriage and babies. Zoey doesn't have faith in forever and isn't at all sure she believes in marriage. This is the story of a couple falling in love, but do they get their happily ever after?

There are several things I like about this novel. Greenberg writes a strong female character who doesn't bend just to fit what society feels is best. The supporting characters are very charming and likeable and the story line flows with ease. As a reader I did get very frustrated with the main character for the same reasons. Zoey is in love, she actually feels that Rylan is her soul mate but has doubts about committing to him for forever. To me, this just made her a tad unlikeable. So many men and women search their entire lives looking for the one that completes them and Zoey feels she has found the one and yet is still indecisive.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book the story is cute, the main character's strong personality is attractive but her indecisiveness about her love life is a real turn off. I would recommend this book to readers that enjoy rom-com, chick lit or women's fiction.

Can a cursed bridesmaid believe in lasting love? When Joey is three times a bridesmaid where the bride doesn't walk down the aisle, she starts to believe it.

4.5 / 5 stars

I very much enjoyed this book! The premise, the narration, the growth and roadblocks in the relationship. It was a great mix of humor and vulnerability. And I appreciated that the ending for Zoey was not what you might expect given that it is a romance book, and what a majority of the book was spent on. I did feel, however, that the author was a little too focused on name-dropping brands and adding in pop culture references with a heavy hand. It was unnecessary and distracting.

I still can't stop thinking about this book. It breaks your heart, gives you hope and then leaves you with an ending that you have to come to terms with. I can't decide if I loved the ending or hated it because If i loved it then the character is flawed and that's ok because it makes her human. If I hate it, then I need to know what else is going to happen, I need more closure. Definitely one to read.
