I enjoyed this title, but but as much as Young's last one. I think teens will LOVE it so I'm excited to hype it up at my school visits moving forward!

Another great book set in the Narrows world! I really liked getting to know more about the notorious Roth family. Bryn, who was raised by an aunt away from the main family after her parents were killed, is summoned back to take her place in the Roth family. So were are learning about them at the same time as Bryn. I liked how this was setup and I enjoyed Bryn as the main character. We have already purchased this for our library and are hoping for more books set in this world.

I really enjoyed the Fable duology and I loved Saint. This spin-off on Fable didn't feel as magical as Fable felt. I wasn't sure if it was the characters or the setting or what. Young's writing, as always, was descriptive and beautiful and I love reading her work. However, there wasn't as much story as I had anticipated. I do love this world and I love that Young was willing to continue building it with the merchant's guilds! I would recommend it to any YA readers who love pirates and all things associated.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for giving me access to the advanced copy of this book to read.

More like a 3.5 but I'll round up. I didn't love this as much as I've loved her other books - but those set a ridiculously high bar. I loved the atmosphere and world she's built in this series, and I particularly liked the setting of this book - I think I would have liked it a little more if Bryn were out interacting in that world a bit more

I’ve enjoyed all of Adrienne’s books I’ve read. This was no exception. Recommend for fantasy readers.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the advanced reader copy. This is my honest review.

This is the third or fourth Adrienne Young book I've read, and I want to jump inside her books and stay there. She does such a great job with setting and tone and her books are perfection. I love the Roth family and I want to know more about Bryn and Ezra. I hope there will be a sequel!

Young brings us back to the universe introduced in her Fable book series in this standalone novel. I do feel that not having read Fable made it a little more challenging to picture some of the smaller nuances of the story and world it is set in but it is written to be ready completely independently.

On MC Bryn's eighteenth birthday she receives a letter from her Uncle. She is being summoned home to take her place amongst her family. But her Uncle has grand plans for Bryn, and Bryn struggles to earn her family's trust. Bryn wants to find a place of power in her family but the closer she gets to grasping it, the more she uncovers how that power was obtained in the first place. The same dealings that got her parents killed are still taking place and Bryn needs to decide if she is willing to get her hands dirty and pay the price of being accepted back into her family.

There is a dangerous family, sizzling first love, high-stakes, dark secrets, and a strong female lead who struggles with her own confidence and values to become who she wants to be. Bryn's internal battle with wanting to belong and standing up for what's right is a very interesting subplot. There is a lot happening in this book so at times it does feel a little rushed at moments but it keeps the reader engaged and wanting to find out how Bryn handles things and see her story through to the end.

I loved going back to the world Young created, but getting a look at those who don't work on a ship and more of a look at the Unnamed Sea as apposed to the Narrows.

The Last Legacy was a cozy and easy read, the beat was steady, I enjoyed it very much. I couldn’t be so happy to return back to Fable universe with very powerful, dangerous family story with forbidden love vibes. It’s quite smart, twisty, intriguing journey you never forget!

“But there was a clear line drawn between those who belonged and those who didn’t. It would take more than blood to cross it.”

I may have a new favorite book. I cannot possibly put into words the amount of enjoyment I went through while reading this book. I’d previously read Sky in the Deep, Fable, and Namesake all by Adrienne Young and knew she was an absolutely spectacular and captivating writer. I feel with every book of her I’ve had the pleasure of getting to read I’ve just seen her blossom even more than I believed possible as a writer. And she keeps on doing it. She had me hooked from the very early pages of this book and didn’t let me up until the end. I fell in love with Bryn’s character, her ambition, her hesitation towards her uncle and the relationship that transpired. This was an fantastic read and I can’t wait to dove into a new Adrienne Young book really soon. Do yourself a favor and read this series today!

I received an e-arc from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

*Fable and Namesake are a duology. Characters in The Last Legacy are introduced in Namesake. I would suggest reading in publication order.*

Really enjoyed this. Wasn’t expecting to be drawn back into the Namesake Universe, but it was so fun to see more of these characters. The relationship between Bryn and Ezra was fiirrrreeeee. My kind of slow burn romance. And of course I’m a fan of any strong female protagonist coming into her own confidence. Highly recommend!

I really liked the dive back into the world of Fable with Bryn's little shore adventure. It was really cool to see her rejoin her family she's been hiding from for so long. I do wish it was longer, everything at the end seemed a little bit rushed. Overall, fun and easy read!

Is our fate already laid out for us or do we forge our own? In Adrienne Young’s ‘The Last Legacy,’ the protagonist Bryn has to discover the answer to this question on her own as she strives to earn her place among the family business. A business as cutthroat and dangerous as the city her family wants a bigger role in.

With stakes that get higher and higher as the story progresses, readers will find themselves turning the pages long into the night – at least, I sure did. In typical Young fashion, this faced paced but heartfelt story had me rooting for the determined Bryn from page one. All of this author’s novels have impressed us and it was no surprise that this one did well in our store as well. We look forward to seeing more from her.

Review:
I was so pleased to dive back into the world of Fable and high-stakes adventure. Adrienne Young does not disappoint and I will follow this author anywhere. The Last Legacy is a standalone novel so it will be a great recommendation for kids who struggle to latch on to series. I also loved the strong heroine amidst a cunning family of criminals. While I think I enjoyed Fable and Namesake more, I am still incredibly grateful for the chance to return to this world and spend time with these characters!

Summary:
New York Times bestselling author Adrienne Young returns with The Last Legacy, a captivating standalone about family and blood ties, reinventing yourself, and controlling your own destiny.

When a letter from her uncle Henrik arrives on Bryn Roth's eighteenth birthday, summoning her back to Bastian, Bryn is eager to prove herself and finally take her place in her long-lost family.

Henrik has plans for Bryn, but she must win everyone’s trust if she wants to hold any power in the delicate architecture of the family. It doesn’t take long for her to see that the Roths are entangled in shadows. Despite their growing influence in upscale Bastian, their hands are still in the kind of dirty business that got Bryn’s parents killed years ago. With a forbidden romance to contend with and dangerous work ahead, the cost of being accepted into the Roths may be more than Bryn can pay.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book. All opinions are my own. Recommended for fans of Young's previous work, but as a standalone novel. Easy to recommend to fantasy lovers!

As a reader of the Fable duology, I loved getting back into that world. However, as a librarian I'm thrilled "The Last Legacy" is a stand-alone so I can recommend it to some of my kids who are not "series" people but would like the universe.

I am so very happy to have another book from the Fable world! I hope we get more. While this one didn’t grab me as much as Fable and Namesake, I still enjoyed it a lot.
