Fun, cheeky, and sometimes cheesy story. Denise is consistent at sticking to self love and empowerment themes with a mix of romance. I'll continue to read her books.
I really enjoyed the Fastest Way to Fall by Denise Williams. I thought she handled weight and weightloss with with skilled hand. This book has great plus-size and wellness representation. And the romance was so well written. Britta and Wes were a great pair, and Wes gave me all the swoony vibes! Can't wait for more from this author!!!
Denise Williams always writes a beautiful story and is now on my list of autobuy authors!! I connected so much with Britta!! So many of her thoughts and actions were just like mine. I have struggled with self-love and to see a character struggle but come out on the other side was so nice. I loved the chemistry between Britta and Wes & loved their story. The spice level was 👌🏻🔥🔥 🥵 Definitely would recommend this one to romance readers!! 4.75
I loved this so much!! The mental health, body and sex positive talk in this book was top notch! Such an important story about loving yourself first
I wasn't the biggest fan of How to Fail at Flirting (I know I'm in the minority there, though), but I LOVED this book. It's one of my favorite romances I've read in recent memory. Wes and Britta are immensely likeable characters, and their relationship felt genuine and unforced. Super cute.
I enjoyed this one, and it made me think a lot. As a larger lady who does not enjoy exercise, much of the fear surrounding exercise hit very close to home. I won't say that it changed anything inside of me because running still sounds like the absolute worst, but I appreciated the intentionality around how everything was clearly written. Overall, it was a good second book by Denise Williams. Her characters feel real, which is what I'm finding I'm looking for more and more.
This story was lovely, ,however I read it during the holidays as a bookseller and was TOO BUSY to write up a review in a timely manner. I really enjoyed the relationship between the characters and their banter over the fitness app. I also REALLY loved the body-positivity and the emphasized need for qualified coaches when it comes to health-related apps!
Filled with email exchanges and text messages, the banter these two developed was so flirty and fun. It was really special to have two characters connect emotionally foremost. And Britta was absolutely hilarious! I adored having snippets of her heartfelt social media posts within the chapters.
As the two form a personal connection, it begins to cross a forbidden territory that I loved. The forced-proximity workout sessions were my favourite, especially with Britta jokingly expressing her hatred. Towards the end I found the pacing a little slow, but this epilogue couldn't have been more perfect.
There are kinda too many tropes (epistolary, strangers messaging, fake dating, taking care of a sick person, being a +1 to a family/big deal event, friends to lovers, mistaken identity, etc.).
There is a lot of darkness (Denise Williams may just like this - her other book has a lot of abuse, this one has addiction and disordered eating - but it doesn't really work for me when I want a light read).
There is an evil ex (I always think that having a totally villainous ex girlfriend is a pretty lazy choice. The ex in this is solely responsible for everything bad that happens. But our hero dated her for 6 years!).
It wasn't bad, but...whew! I just felt kinda meh at this.
Britta sees her assignment investigating a new body positive fitness app as the way to finally get a full-time job writing for a lifestyle website. CEO of the FitMi app Wes is trying to reconnect with his roots by taking on his first personal training client in a long time. When Wes starts training Britta, they have an instant friendship that grows into something more. But will falling for each other threaten both of their credibility at work?
This is a sweet slow burn with a powerful message about loving your body. Britta and Wes's dialogue is witty and completely charming. I loved them from their first message exchange. And the way Denise Williams fits body positivity and a healthy relationship with fitness culture into the story is so smart and well done. I had the biggest cheesy grin on my face by the end!
A feel good romance with body positivity and a side of complications. The dual POV, slow burn and tension created a satisfying ending.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book! The title and this beautiful cover drew me in and i was excited to read this book! I will be recommending this book to others for readers advisory.
Fantastic read that really envelopes you into their story. Love the body image love and character development from beginning to end.
I am still working on completing this book and look forward to updating my review on it at a later time. I was captured by the cover and description from the beginning, but still need to make time to finish reading it.
the audiobook is the way to go for this book. This book was a delight. Loved the romance, the journey, the slow burn.
Synopsis: Britta has spent the last few years working for a lifestyle website. There is a new position open to be a full-time writer and Britta desperately wants it. Unfortunately, Claire, Britta's coworker, also has her eyes on it. The pair find themselves testing out two competing fitness apps and blogging about the experience in the hopes of winning over their boss.
Wes is the CEO of FitMe, a body-positive fitness app that includes a personal coach/trainer, but despite his success, he feels that his life lacks purpose. He decides to go back to what he loves - being one of the coaches. Britta is assigned to him as his first new client and they immediately hit it off.
Britta didn't plan to fall for Wes but after the pair started working out and meeting in person, it's hard to deny the chemistry and for them to remain professional.
Review: This book is everything. It is the absolute perfect romcom and Denise's storytelling is pure gold. I loved the body positivity of this book, it actually made me want to start being healthier and working out. Britta and Wes are so loveable and you can't help but root for them and their happy ever after.
The character development is fantastic in this book. Britta is such a strong female. She is bold, sarcastic, witty, I could just go on and on about her. I'm not sure how someone could read this book and not want to be Britta? She is adorable!
I loved that Britta and Wes formed a connection on an emotional level first. They became friends and even though the chemistry was present, it wasn't really introduced until later on. I loved that it was relatable and not just full of lust and chemistry (which I do also enjoy).
“I want you to be my everything, because it feels like you already are”
― Denise Williams, The Fastest Way to Fall
Overall I give this book 4 stars because I enjoyed it so much, it's inspirational and motivational. It's just such a fantastic feel-good romance.
Cute romance story with themes on body image, shaming, and drug abuse. The story was an easy read and I liked how the author tackled serious topics.
Denise Williams is quickly becoming one of my must read contemporary authors. I just love the way she writes and turns a phrase and how she does characterization. The Fastest Way To Fall is a stupendous read starring a plus sized woman and a fitness coach. Britta is a writer and as part of her work, begins testing a new body positivity fitness app. She is paired with a coach named Wes. Somehow the two end up continuously chatting and they go from fitness to flirting. The way they meet in real life was harrowing, I guess I would say. OH and even though this book has strong fitness themes, it is absolutely not about Britta losing weight and her life becoming better because of that. Actually, she doesn't really lose weight, just gets more stamina with running and more confident in herself.
Okay, so yes, I LOVED The Fastest Way To Fall. I felt like Wes was such a kind and thoughtful love interest. His approach to fitness and health came across as caring and safe. And Wes and Britta together were PERFECTION. I loved the journey that Britta went on to think better of herself and to not accept being treated as lesser than. Oh and the audiobook of this was narrated to perfection. The narrators are N'Jameh Camara and Teddy Hamilton who are perfect in their roles. I find that I am eyeing this one at the store and am likely to just buy this for my personal collection ASAP.
Wes and Britta were such great characters! I loved their story, and as a fitness instructor and personal trainer, the subject matter really spoke to me. I loved their story - it was so well done and the dual POV really got us into their heads. Britta was such a great character. I really felt for her, was impressed by her strength and bravery, and my heart also broke for her. When I find myself yelling at characters in books or cheering out loud for them, I know it's an amazing read. Well done!
"The Fastest Way to Fall" byDenise Williams has become one of my favorites. Here's why...
This book made me feel seen in a way that no other book has. I am 250lbs and very athletic... not just for my body type, bit I am generally athletic. And strong... strong willed, strong minded and physically strong. I really enjoyed the romance aspect and the very intricate emotions that the characters in the book experience. They aren't perfect characters and those are my favorite kinds. I finished this book in 2 days and I was sad it finished, but very happy to have read it. Thank you
