Life's What You Make It by Sian O'Gorman is a pleasant small town novel set in an idyllic seaside village in Ireland. I enjoyed this book very much, and I could feel the author’s love of Ireland and the small villages in the beautiful country.
Liv O’Neil has a very stressful job in London and the only relief from the constant stress is her roommate Roberto and his lively antics. When her mother has a fall, and her employer gives her a one-month paid leave, she returns to the small town of Sandycove and learns to love small-town life again.
Sian O’Gorman’s love of Ireland shines brightly in this lovely book about small-town communities and family. This lively well-paced book is full of delightful characters and its optimistic outlook on life was a delight to read. I immediately sympathized with the main character and was rooting for her during the entire book. The village of Sandycove was very well described and I felt like it was a village I would enjoy living in.
I highly recommend this book.
