This is a cute wintery rom com perfect to read when the weather warms up and you find yourself wanting to imagine the cold. The story was cute, the sort of comforting expected elements you want from a rom com. The characters were well fleshed out, though the love interest wasn’t as interesting to me as some of the side characters. Typical rom com shenanigans make this a great lighthearted read
I think I missed the YA descriptor when requesting this book, although I have read many YA books that I enjoyed. This book was poorly written, jumped all over the place and I just did not enjoy it. I did not finish this book, it might be the right holiday story for someone, but wasn’t for me.
What a cute, funny, and sweet young adult romance this book was! Really enjoyed this especially set at Christmastime!
A warm romance that is perfect to curl up infront of a fire to read in anticipation for Christmas. Garrod’s writing compliments the tone of the plot perfectly with consistent development of characters that is still realistic.

I thought this was such a cute book and was a great modern YA twist on The Holiday! I was expecting a bit more romance in it but I still found it enjoyable!
This is also a perfect Christmas read! Full of the Christmas spirit Holly instantly gets you into the spirit! One thing I loved about the book was the peek that were get into influencer life!
A fun romance novel to read over the holidays, but ultimately not that memorable. I liked the holiday aspects but felt it was predictable.
I adored Blame it on the Mistletoe! The Christmas spirit, to do list, finding new friends, and swapping places??? YES PLEASE! I felt at home with the characters and enjoyed watching their growth.
I just could not get into this book at all. The change in pov was abrupt and difficult to follow. I found myself so confused by the characters and settings and who was who and where they were that it wasn't any fun to read the book.
I apparently didn’t read the description for this book when I requested it/started to read it because I didn’t realize it was a YA version of The Holiday. Which wasn’t exactly the best movie, in my opinion. And to dumb it down to a young adult version, no thanks.
I love a good holiday romance and this was no difference. This was a great YA romance that was sweet and funny. This is an author I hope to read more from in the future.
I read it over the holiday season and it was such a fun little read, like watching a Hallmark movie!
Because it was like watching a Hallmark movie, it was a bit predictable and super cheesy at times but I found that it was still charming and enjoyable! While I think this book won't be for everyone, I think for those that enjoy a feel good book that they would like it and truly it was a charming book!
I was also really fond of the characters found them easy to like and relate to! Their story is easy to follow as well, overall the entire book easy and just feel good!
This was a cute story but just didn’t grasp my attention. It took me a lot longer to finish than I expected. The story follows two ladies, Holly and Elle, who swap place she’s during Christmas. Holly is looking to have the perfect Christmas since everything at home is going haywire. Her ex-boyfriend is dating someone new, her duster won’t be home for Christmas, and her mom has to work Christmas Day among other things. Elle has found herself in an online competition where she needs to gain 15,000 followers or delete her account. Each has many hurdles to climb to find out the true meaning behind their lives and their struggles. I enjoyed it but it just didn’t engage me enough to keep reading every night. 3 star. Thank you NetGalley for the eARC.
This book is probably an excellent read for it's target audience, but beyond that I'm not sure it's going to do much.
I love reading young adult novels, often I read them and wish that I had the story at a different point in my life. But this one is just a little too specific. The focus on social media and being and "influence" definitely puts a time stamp on this book and for me, that was not ideal for me.
This was a fun and crazy YA version of the movie The Holiday. It was sweet, heart-felt and I laughed out loud. This one will be a re-read each holiday season and one I recommend each year.
I read about 50% of this and then skimmed through the rest. This is NOT a decent book by any means. "Tweet Cute meets The Holiday" made me have such high expectations ( my favorite holiday movie and my favorite book... hellllllo?). Right away I knew this wouldn't be for me. The writing is entirely juvenile and the characters are annoying and flat. This read more like a middle-grade or even elementary-level story. There was truly nothing about it that I felt related to either The Holiday or Tweet Cute. This had a semi-cute premise, which is what pulled me in, but wasn't executed well at all.
I always feel so bad writing reviews like this because I know someone poured their heart and soul into this story, but this NEEDED five re-writes, and then MAYBE it'd be decent. It was just trying far too hard to be relatable and quirky. Ended up feeling so so SO adolescent.
This is very reminiscent of the movie The Holiday. Two girls who aren't happy in their lives swap places for the holiday. They find love with people in the other girl's life. One is from America and one is in Britain. Pretty close premise to the movie, just younger people.
This is definitely a YA read. Both girls are younger and find love in unexpected places.
This was a really cute read if you are into light and non-emotional reads. It deals a lot with each struggle with their feeling surrounding the holidays. They are finding it hard to get into the Christmas spirit.
“Didn’t I tell you?” I smiled. “I’m spending Christmas in America.”

Thank you too NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire for an advanced copy of this book! All thoughts and opinions are solely my own.
Blame it on the Mistletoe is a The Holiday setting in a more ‘modern’ setting and much younger characters. Holly, a habitual planner with an ex/neighbor she can’t get over, and Elle, a girl obsessed with social media and follower counts, switch places for the holidays.
I watched The Holiday for the first time last year and was excited to read a book with a similar plot. Unfortunately, this one and I did not vibe at all. There was no age that I noticed in the description, but the girls appear to be only fifteen or sixteen. This is marked as Teens and YA, so that does track, but the dialogue felt much, much younger. Some of the conversations were reminiscent of ways I may have chatted in elementary school on AIM/Yahoo messenger. Even if it were texts, I could have looked past it, but the actual dialogue scenes were frequently words such as: “Nooooommmaayyybbbeeeeesss?” and “Annnyywaaaaay”.
People who may like this more than me: fans of teen romance on the younger side, fans of lots of references to celebrities/current trends, fans of quick holiday rom coms who don’t mind dialogue reading like texts.
Thus will likely be a cute enjoyable read for teenagers. The writing is engaging and that story is fun, but it's definitely geared towards teens, already a bit too young for YA. Overall, cute story for the right audience.
Blame it on the Mistletoe is a festive YA story by Beth Garrod. I was expecting a more adult novel with older characters but should have realized it highlighted high school students as it was compared to Tweet Cute. However, it was still an enjoyable story although it felt a little shallow at times. When social media influencer Elle decides to swap lives with a British, Christmas-obsessed Holly, she gets more than she bargains. Holly, all too happy to flee the UK as she broke up with her boyfriend Woody, embraces Christmas in America-or tries to when she discovers Elle's family and twin brother prefer quieter holidays. Told through tweets, Instagram grids and stories and lots of humor YA readers will enjoy this story.

I really expected to love this one. I was reading it around Christmas, it had an adorable cover, and promised Christmasy things. But sadly, it didn't deliver. It had cute Christmas elements, but the storyline and plot weren't impressive.
I think my main problem was how similarly the characters read. I never learned to tell them apart. Each individual plotline just blended into one big mush, there was nothing defining thing about either. Any love I mightve had for the characters was killed when I couldn't tell who they were.
As for the plot, it was just boring and repetitive. There wasn't much going on in either girls' plotlines. There wasn't anything to keep me reading. I was super tempted to dnf, but I'd just dnfed another book, so I didn't want to dnf this one. It had some cute moments, but enough to make up for the rest.
