This book was so funny. I couldn’t imagine writing a letter to mice for them to find a new place to live. Only for them to come back. The ending really took me out but I could see it happening. I’m like how could you take everything but leave that piece? Anyways this was really good.

I listened to this in audiobook form.

This was absolutely adorable. It's a short little story about a man who wants to get rid of some mice that are living in his house. He writes them letters, and in each letter he suggests different places where the mice might want to make a home. The mice visit each location and critique it, not wanting to settle for anything less than the perfect home. I won't spoil the ending, but it's wonderful!

This audiobook was simply amazing. I truly enjoyed it.

First of all, the narrator did a FANTASTIC job. As we alternate between the voices of the man and the mice, I got so engaged due to the brilliant narration. I can imagine kids listening to this and being so engrossed and captivated by the story like I was!

I loved how the book portrays a very unique perspective of getting rid of mice. Not that it could happen in real life, though it would be nice to be able to write to mice, wouldn't it. It was short, but not too short for me, just right.

What I really enjoyed was the humour. I found myself chuckling out loud, by myself. And that's something I really appreciate. The commentary of the mice was absolutely hilarious.

I am definitely going to listen to this one again! I highly encourage that you pick this one up if you can.

This is a cute story based on an Irish Belief that if you want to get rid of rodents, you just have to ask them politely to leave, in a letter. It is a fun story about two fussy mice living in Finn's Cottage. Finn tries to relocate the mice to several different spots, but they keep coming back. He eventually decides that maybe he needs to be the one to move. A cute story that made my grandson laugh out loud. We did a read/listen where he followed along with the text while listening to the story. At first he was disappointed that there were no "pictures", but when he got to the end, he changed his mind. The back pages included a page called "Did You Imagine Pictures As You Read The Story". We went through it again and talked about what we pictured on each page. Of course, his sister wanted to draw them. The audiobook was narrated by Paul Collins and I thought it was a perfect fit. He is a new narrator to me and even though I have now listened to this story several times, I have not tired of its reading. I definitely recommend this one to early readers. I can definitely see this one being used in a classroom art lesson.

What a fantastic audiobook! I cannot wait for my daughters to listen along with me!

This is a short heartwarming and funny story about a man whos cottage has mice, so he goes and writes them some polite letters with suggestions on better places for them to live in the hope that they will leave.

This is beautifully narrated and will certainly be a story that I will listen to over and over again with my children.

Engaging narrator, fun story about a mice family who's owner tries to evict them. No matter how hard he tries, the mice family always come back. A simple story that listeners preschool through 2nd grade will enjoy. Under 35 minutes, this is a great audiobook for bathtime, waiting in carlines for older siblings, or out and about running errands.

Thank you, the author and NetGalley, for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was such an adorable children's book! The plot was so funny as we both (my kid and I) laughed a lot. From chapter one, Finn discovers two mice were sharing his home and even eating his food. Now he wants them to get out of his house politely. According to Professor Dunderbutt's advice, Finn decided to write a letter to the mice and ask them to get out.

The narrator did an excellent job. He reminded me of Nigel Billingsley from Jumanji. And this was one of the reasons behind it caught my kid’s attention.

Overall, we both recommend this adorable story as a bedtime story to kids.

What a cute little story about an old man trying to convince two mice to leave his home by writing them letters suggesting new places to live. What a great book for children who can work on inferences while reading.

A cute children’s story about a man that has mice in his cottage and that wants to get rid of them. The narrator has quite a strong Irish accent, so it may not be for everyone.

I enjoyed the story and can picture children of maybe 6-8 enjoying it too. For younger children there is just not enough happening to keep them entertained for that length of time.

I would like to thank the publisher, the author and NetGalley for the chance to listen to this story in exchange for an honest review.

This looked cute and is!

Finn discovers two little mice are sharing his home, eating his breakfast and chewy on the morning paper. He researches how to address the problem and decides to implement Professor Dunderbutt's advice to write a polite letter suggesting a better place for the mice. They go and explore the recommendation, but later in the day he finds them returned to his cottage. He tries other properties, with more room, more food sources, more amenities, better views, by the sea, in the country, in the city, in a lighthouse or a castle... Each time the mice investigate but return. What is it they want?

The professor becomes annoyed and frustrated but modifies his angry outbursts to continue to write polite letters. Can he convince them to move out? The result, especially the conclusion, is quite cute.

I wanted a quick read/listen and this fit the bill. I also downloaded the book (adobe digital edition) and like the short chapters perfect for sharing with children. It is also a light delight for adults to enjoy too. I easily recommend this to readers who are looking for a quick, humorous read/listen.

Audio Notes: Paul Collins does a lovely narration with a distinct accent that puts one in the modest setting. I think children would enjoy listening too and I would love to share this with my grandchildren.

A cute story of Finn and his efforts to relocate a family of mice from his small cottage. I kept thinking about Goldielocks and the Three Bears as each suggestion was never quite right. I think this would be a great addition to a K-1st grade classroom. The narrator was pleasant to listen to.

I found this to be a cute children book. It’s about a man who listens to a professors advice and writes letters to his unwanted house guest’s some fussy mice that have come to expect certain luxuries from his house. He leaves letters at midnight with different suggestions of different places to live where they might be happier. Will they take his advice?

Absolutely delightful! If only writing letters would work in real life. I laughed out loud several times thanks to both the writing and excellent narration.

Out, Mouse! is a short and humorously appealing children's story by Valerie L. Egar. Released 6th April 2021 by Whistle Oak, it's 78 pages and is available in paperback, ebook, and audio formats. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references throughout. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately.

This is such a whimsical story with imagination and heart. There are very few characters and a simple story format which builds up to a funny ending with an ironic twist. It would make a superlative read-along book with lots of opportunities for funny voices and sound effects.

The audiobook version is expertly narrated by Paul Collins. The narrator has a pleasant and warm voice for narration and is easy to understand and listen to. The narration runs just over 35 minutes.

Five stars for both the audio and print versions. Well done and fun for all ages.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

This audiobook was a delight--the narrator is super entertaining, and I think children will love listening to his funny dictation and acting. This story is a super cute tale of a man writing letters to the mice living in his house because he wants them to leave. It's a silly tale that pairs great with the comedic narration from the audiobook.

Finn isn’t pleased when a pair of mice have move into his humble abode. In an attempt to persuade them to move, he leaves them a series of letters suggesting other places to live, explaining why each location would be better for them, along with everything that is wrong with his house. As the mice couple checks out each location, they always find something wrong. A barn has no fireplace or variety of food. A beach house is too far away from town. A castle is haunted. Eventually, as Finn writes his latest attempt, he realizes that the new location really is so much better and decides to move himself. If only he hadn’t left the letter behind for the mice to read!

Valerie L. Egar’s Out, Mouse! is a short book that will appeal to young children just beginning to listen to read aloud chapter books. You can sit down and read it in one 30-45 minute session. While simple, the story line has an expected cuteness that appeals to young children. The audio version of the book, read by Paul Collins, has a light Irish brogue, adding to the atmosphere of the storyline.
