Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher/author for providing me with an ALC in exchange for my honest review.

OMG!!! This book was exactly what I wanted it to be! I loved it. I will make sure to check out other books by this author. When I requested this I was just intrigued by the concept of it and I loved how it turned out. This story had a great plot and if you have read this and enjoyed it, This was so much. It was such a great story. I would say give this one a try. I will continue to follow this author. Way to go to this author for not letting me down.

I highly enjoyed the narrator of the audiobook. Kept me listening.

The Magic Storm gives Phoebe, Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, and their supporting cast the opportunity to shine again. These books make me laugh aloud. I often share their antics with my friends.

I loved that the audiobook had multiple narrators.

I thought the story was cute, but not really good for an audiobook. The reader did a good job with ALL the characters

Phoebe and Her Unicorn in the Magic Storm has a fairy-tale feel with a humorous and modern twist. Phoebe and her friends (and frenemies) decide to investigate when a freak storm comes rolling in. They learn of a tale from goblin lore that might hold some clues, and they set out to solve the mystery! This is the first graphic novel in audiobook form I’ve listened to, and it was an interesting experience. Since this is a full-cast recording, complete with sound effects, it sounds a lot like an episode of a cartoon. The voices are super fun (and cartoony), and the story is entertaining, but I did have a little trouble following what was happening in the beginning. Once I got used to the style, though, the story really started to flow. It’s interesting to hear how certain visual elements of the graphic novel are portrayed through dialogue. I think kids might really enjoy having the graphic novel in-hand while listening. My favorite aspect of the book is the ending and the way the mystery plays out—there are so many little funny moments that had me laughing!

This is the first book I read in the comic series of Phoebe and Her Unicorn. I did not like the book but then I am also not the target audience :)

Cute, cute book! The audio version was fantastic. The narration was on spot and kept me interested. Granddaughter loved it!

I love Phoebe and Her Unicorn and was curious to see how it translated to an audio medium. Sadly, it didn’t. There is no good description of what the art is showing in the panels and the story feels flat because of it. I’ll just keep reading it the old fashioned way.

This was rather cute, and I listened to the audio because I was curious how it would translate from a graphic novel to audio and it was pretty fun. I could imagine kids listening to it and either just enjoying the story or reading along. The voicing was decent, although Dakota's voice was a bit on the annoying side. However, the voicing of Dakota totally fits her personality, so I suppose I'll let that pass. The rest of the voices were pretty well done, and I especially liked Marigold's soothing voice. The story is reasonably interesting and I can picture elementary school children, especially girls, enjoying the story. I wouldn't say that this is a book for all ages necessarily, but I can see adults reading this to their kids at bedtime.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This 45 minute story was a quick listen and an interesting new way to consume a Phoebe and Her Unicorn series book. I had read the graphic novel so I'm not sure whether this would have been more confusing if you didn't have that background. I am very sure that you will have want to read at least one of the comic collections so you can keep a hold on some of the names. The narrators were adorable and I really loved the interpretations of each of the characters. Especially the narration of the goblins. It was really fun to see how many different ways "blart!" could be interpreted.
Phoebe and her unicorn are back (in what I believe is their first audio outing) and the story is as fun as the graphic novel. This time Phoebe and Marigold not only have to deal with Dakota and her goblins but with a serious cold spell and a sudden lack of magic. Marigold and the goblins are able to figure out most of the story but they still have work to do to clear everything up. Through their explorations, they manage to charm the reader as well as help facilitate another human/magical creature pairing.

The Phoebe and Her Unicorn Series is so popular in my Media Center. I listened to the audio version of this book and the characters came alive for me. Yet, I wonder if I had no previous knowledge of the book and characters if it would have been as much fun. The books are magical, the illustrations are so vibrant and the characters so lively. I almost wish that this book could have been in front of me as I was listening.
It's interesting to imagine how the written version matched up to the reader's perception of the audio. I will say that I prefer the book form of Phoebe. However, I also feel that some of my student readers will enjoy the audio version more.

This is the sixth book in the Phoebe and Her Unicorn series. It follows Phoebe and Marigold as they team up with Max to find out what is happening to the electrical grid during this huge storm! A very fun read! I definitely recommend it as I plan to read more in this series. Thanks to #netgalley for the advanced reader copy.

This is a really cute children's book about a girl called Phoebe and her magical unicorn Marigold. The book is quite funny and I enjoyed all the character's voices and the special sound effects which made the book come to life.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and Net Galley for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

The Magic Storm

Ugh! Horrible sound effects that distract from the story, hideous narrators with voices so annoying that I kept skipping forward (Dakota was so bad it was offensive). The only redeeming factor was the Goblins ... BLART!
I wondered if this was something that would only appeal to kids, so I played clips to students from grade 1 to 6 and not one said they wanted to listen to more than a couple of seconds. One even asked “why is a grownup trying to sound like an elf” for the voice of Phoebe.
I’ve never read the comics nor have I seen this in graphic novel form, but this certainly didn’t inspire me to look further, nor consider it for a classroom. Yuk.

Unlike the usual collection of comic strips, this book has one storyline. It is adorable. The audiobook executed it well. The goblins part is hilarious. Blart! I just wish the frenemy Dakota had some redemption arc. It'll be hard to explain the meanness to kids.

This is my first read of the comic series adventure of Phoebe and her unicorn Marigold. I listened to the audiobook. Although the narrators were very good, interesting, and funny, I like to see graphic novels, too.
Marigold has magical power and receives magical text messages. She understands that something unusual is about the storm. Phoebe, Marigold, and Max (Phoebe’s friend) go to finding the mystery of the storm; based on the goblin's story which belongs to the past, about 300 years ago or last week!
Well, I should mention the funniest part. I don't know if the little green creatures, goblins are in the other books or not (I hope they were be), but they were awesome and talk with one word, "BLART".
This was a 3F story (fine, funny, and friendly). I loved it and going to read more of the series.
Thanks to Netgalley, I have given an honest review of Phoebe and Her Unicorn in the Magic Storm (Phoebe and Her Unicorn #6) by Dana Simpson.
