This book is a great addition to the AP Government and Politics class that I teach. It is a great way to showcase different aspects of government in a great, illustrated way.
I’ve read several books on the US Constitution. This was a great addition and I think one of the best. I learned quite a bit, especially the histories of the amendments as we try to progress toward a more perfect union.
The full title is The People’s Constitution: 200 Years, 27 Amendments, and the Promise of a More Perfect Union by John F. Kowal; Wilfred U. Codrington III.
I thank Netgalley and The New Press for the chance to read a review copy. If you are thinking that you might want to read this, check out.
I enjoyed this book. It was well written and well-organized. Importantly, it was written so that th grneral reader should have no trouble gollowing this history. But it was also an important work of history that should appeal to both the historian and the authors’ fellow legal scholars.
Those with a interest in the American Revolution and the Constitution may be interested in the website of the American Revolution Institute. An internet search will probably find an abundance of resources.
