This is a fast paced, suspenseful story that is so hard to put down, I read it in 24 hours! Filled with family drama and intriguing secrets, I didn’t know who to trust or what was real until the shocking reveal at the end. This is my second book by this author and won’t be my last. I love how she spins a tale, taking my on a mysterious journey with surprising twists every single time! Thank you Netgalley, Möbius Books and the author for this eARC in exchange for my honest review. Available now

Jessica comes home after having an issue in Madrid. Is she crazy, mental? She’s trying to get back to normal life… the lady next door dies and Jessica suspects the husband, Ajay, and then other people of killing her. Could it be Sean? Then her mom dies. So there’s a second whodunnit…

This isn’t really a psychological thriller, in my opinion. It did have a mystery component and the is-she-crazy narrator… it was a decent story that I would recommend if you like this kind.

I didn’t like the epilogue at all. Served zero purpose in my mind. 3 stars

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy.

I really enjoyed Karen Cole's Deceive Me, Deliver Me, and Destroy Me, so I was excited to read Deny Me...and it did not disappoint! This book was full of twists and secrets, and I didn't see the ending coming at all. I highly recommend this novel, and I can't wait to see what Karen Cole comes up with next. Thanks to NetGalley and Mobius Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this amazing thriller. : )

I have loved all of Karen Cole's books. Deny Me is an intense thriller that will take you on a ride. You are not sure which character to trust and the author keeps you guessing until the end. It was an enjoyable read!!

Jessica lived in Spain with her partner until their recent breakup. She has had mental problems for years, and they reached a point that sent her back home to her parents. There, she learns that her mother, Jean, is sinking into early-onset Alzheimers. Her father, Brian is doing all he can to care for her.

Her mother tells her that her neighbor was pushed from an upstairs window and died. But, she is told that it was an accident and that her mother is confused.

The husband of the woman who died is a vet named Ajay and knew, as did many others, that his wife had been having an affair with, it turns out, a man that Jessica had loved at one time. Now, she finds him cocky and distasteful.

One day, her mother insists Jessica take her jewelry box because there are secrets there that she must learn about. Not long after, Jean dies from an overdose and it’s unknown if it was accidental of intentional.

It’s at her mother’s funeral that she learns a devastating secret that had been withheld from her all her life. How will she be able to deal with it?

This book started out slowly in an almost “woe is me” manner. But it finally picked up to end in a stunning manner. Plow through the first part and you will be rewarded later in the book.

Deny Me by Karen Cole

Newly divorced, thirty-two year old Jessica, moves back in with her parents, Jean and Brian, as she gets her life back on track. Jessica isn’t the only one with problems, her mom was just diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Jean swears she witnessed her neighbor, Ajay, pushing his wife, Kate, from their top-floor house window to her death. But he says it was an accident. Ajay says she was only trying to clean the gutter out! Accident? Or did he have something to do with it?

Their marriage wasn’t as perfect as it seemed.

Jessica feels like her world is crashing down around her. Paranoid thoughts.

But she’s still determined to figure out the truth behind Kate’s death.

In searching for answers she upturns many lies in her life. What can she believe.

I enjoy reading Karen’s books! This book grabbed my attention right at the start, but lost me a little in the middle, but then grabbed my attention again with 10% to go. The middle to me just seemed a little slow. I guessed one of the twists, but still I enjoyed the book!

Thank you Karen Cole, Mobius Books and NetGalley for the advance copy to read in return for my honest review!

I loved how short this book was because it kept the suspense at an all time high and didn’t drag the story out! I found it consuming, suspenseful and a real page turner. Will be on the lookout for more Karen Cole books!

This is my third book by Karen Cole and it was such a disappointment. I found the main character utterly pathetic, you can have mental health issues and still be strong, kind, smart and loveable. I really hate when authors give their characters mental health issues without any real research about it. It did not read true to me at all. It seems common now a days to portray mental health sufferers with feelings of "is this real or am I going crazy again?" Add in all the boozing she does and you have a the typical "crazy person" storyline.

As I said before this is my third book by this author and I loved the first two. She knows how to write well thought out family psychological thrillers. Even authors are allowed to have a miss every now and again. I will still give her other books a try. I suggest to new readers that they give these other two a go...Deceive Me and/or Deliver Me.

Coming home after your world falls apart. It’s not always what you expect. It’s often not what you hope either. Do you believe the one no one else does? Where do you place your faith?

Jessica left a bad relationship and is staying with her parents until she gets herself in a position to find her own place. Her mom has been diagnosed with dementia ..leaving her confused a lot of the time.

One night at dinner, Jessica's mom comes out with a statement that unnerves her. She states she saw her next door neighbor killing his wife by pushing her out of the upstairs window. True ... the neighbor's wife did die exactly like that, but it was investigated and found to be an accident.

Her mom now fears for her own life. Did she really see a murder ... or is this just confusion associated with dementia?

Jessica wants to know the truth, but she can't possibly prepare herself for what she'll find...

Solidly woven plot with skillfully drawn characters makes this psychological thriller a real page turner. There are twists and turns that lead to a terrifying unexpected ending. This was the first I've read of this author ... it won't be the last.

Many thanks to the author / Mobius Books / Netgalley for the digital copy of this captivating psychological thriller. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I read all of Karen Cole books as soon as I can cos I know I’m in for a rollercoaster of a psychological thriller. Deny Me is no different and delivers a dark, uncomfortable story of mental health, lies and secrets as Jessica and her mother strive for the truth in a fog of uncertainty. As I was reading this, I deeply felt the tension and trauma building to a completely soul destroying unexpected, and debilitating ending. Another great addition to the ME series!
