Bring together rivals of different high school choirs brings an intriguing group of suspects. The storyline allowed for many well-placed red herrings to keep readers, like me, entertained and engrossed in the mystery. The main protagonist, Amy, is a likable, intelligent, and complex character. I recommend this book to cozy mystery fans,

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of RENEWED FOR MURDER (Book 6 of the Blue Ridge Library mysteries) by Victoria Gilbert in exchange for an honest review. Librarian Amy Webber’s settling into wedded life with her new husband, dancer Richard Muir. There’s an event in town featuring a high school state champion choral reunion. When one of the singers is murdered in the backyard of Zelda Shoemaker, who is a friend of Amy’s Aunt Lydia, local law enforcement focuses on Zelda as their primary suspect. In order to exonerate Zelda, Amy will have to research and uncover dark secrets from the past. However, no one involved wants to talk, so Amy will have to research everything to find the small threads that will unravel the entire mystery.

I enjoyed this book. I recommend this book to fans of the series and to fans of cozy mysteries featuring murder, small towns, libraries, dancing, faculty socials, secrets, and high school drama.

Normally I really enjoy the Blue Ridge Library books. I was particularly excited to see that Amy and Richard were finally getting married. However, because the formatting kept leaving a letter or two out of words, it was very hard to follow. At times it was like trying to read a book in a foreign language where you get the gist of it and that is enough and at other times the missing parts are too important for meaning that you have no idea what was meant. It got frustrating after two chapters.

Virginia, murder, murder-investigation, amateur-sleuth, librarian, cats, family, framed, friendship, secrets*****

I was hooked at Zelda (my sister)! This Zelda has a long history in the area, is a dear friend of the head librarian's aunt, and is fingered for the murder of a woman she had loathed in high school in the 1970s. Amy is the head librarian, has a new husband who is a well known dance instructor, and has a nose for sleuthing. There are lots of very interesting characters, more secrets, unusual connections, plot twists, and some sneaky red herrings. Although the latest in a series, it easily stands alone. Well done!
I requested and received a free ebook copy from Crooked Lane Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

Once again I am in Taylorsford, Virginia visiting with Amy, Richard and Aunt Lydia as Amy once again must do research into a murder that may have resulted from an incident that happened fifty years ago.

A quickly paced plot with limited suspects and enough twists and turns that I was completely engaged from page one to the end. These characters are so well developed now that I feel like I could be friends with all of them as I visit Taylorsford. Even Kurt has become a more engaging character and less mysterious as he has grown through each book. This was simply a delight to read from beginning to end.

Well plotted and character driven story that moves quickly and has items for everyone. It is also a deftly crafted mystery buffs delight by a genuine master within this genre. A great tale with plenty of crooks .

I really wanted to enjoy this book as I've read others in the series and thought they were good but my kindle version that downloaded had so many words missing and typos and full on letters just not there in the sentence that it made it incredibly hard to read and I had to stop after the first couple of chapters as I couldn't guess what the word was meant to be and it was so hard to read.

Such a shame.

Amy Webber library director and new husband dancerRichard Muir live in Taylorsford, Virginia. Richard and his dance partner Karla are choreographing a suite based on folk music and folktales. Amy is busy checking the library’s resources to supply background information on the dances source material. The music comes to a halt when an unknown woman’s body turns up in Zelda Shoemakers backyard gazebo. Chief Deputy Brad Tucker puts Zelda at the top of the suspect list, thanks to a blackmail letter found in the dead woman’s pocket. Amy’s aunt Lydia Talbot begs Amy to use her research skills to clear Zelda’s name. But Zelda refuses to reveal why the victim might have blackmailed her. Meanwhile the killer is still out there. Amy needs to step up because death is on her dance card and her number maybe up. Very enjoyable story the author did a great job.

This is a mystery truly in the style of Agatha Christie. Plenty of suspects keep you guessing right to the very end as to who the killer is. The plot is dialogue driven, with clues being parsed out through conversations among characters, with the only actual action taking part in the final three chapters.
I came to this book ARC having never read this author before and for the most part it stood alone just fine. However, there is one area that could have stood to lean less heavily on what had come before. I found I was not invested much at all in whether the lead suspect was guilty or not. The characters state in conversation what a wonderful, warm, and incapable of murder person she is, but as a first time reader I saw no evidence of that at all. It would have been nice to be at least a tiny bit as invested in her beating the murder charge as her friends were.
I am also disappointed to see this author jump on the bandwagon of putting pets on a cover and inserting them into the book when they make absolutely no difference to the story, just so pet lovers see them on the cover and buy the book.
However, the book is well-written and -edited, which is a relief in the overflowing market that is cozy mysteries.

The sixth book in the series, Renewed for Murder, was another great read! Amy sets out to clear Zelda's name in the latest murder. The story brings up fifty year old secrets of Amy's friends. An easy read with lots of action and fun. I really enjoy reading this series and look forward to the next book.

I have read the other 5 books in this series. In this book the main character, Amy is now married to Richard Muir. who is a contemporary dancer and choreographer. The other main characters are all quite diverse. They live in the town of Taylorsford at the foot of the blue ridge mountains. Amy works in the town library. An art festival is bringing people in town for the choral demonstration. Three woman who sang in the chorus in high school years ago are all preforming in the event. A murder in a gazbo at her Aunt Lydia's friend, Zelda's garden. The other characters are all introduced throughout the story.. There is a mystery relating to the high school choral competition of two high school years ago which is throughout the story. There are many twists and turns in this story that brings a surprise ending. I enjoyed this book very much and look forward to the next one.

Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for this ARC.

Could animosity live for over 50 years??
.
I loved how intriguing and hooking that book was, it was simple yet so powerful at the same time.
Amy Muir, the main character, was really well written, the author created a normal woman with a loving husband, and above average intelligence that helps her in her hobby, which is sleuthing, i loved how you could relate to her and feel intrigued by her way of thinking.
The plot was really rich with details, considering that all the drama happened more than 50 years ago, uncovering the layers and secrets of every character was thrilling to say the least.
The writing style was awesome, it was fast-paced and i liked how the author wrote nice small talk in the dialogues to give a cozy feeling to the book, but didn't over do it that it shadowed the thrilling aspect.
Highly recommend it.

This is the first book I have read by Victoria Gilbert and I really enjoyed it. It is a great addition to the cozy mystery genre; I look forward to reading more books by this author. The characters are well drawn and I always enjoy books with a librarian as a main character. I don’t read a lot of cozy mysteries because they tend to be cloying but this one is not. This is part of a series and even though I have not written the previous books, I could follow the story without feeling I was missing something. Amy is trying to clear a friend from a possible murder charge - I like that she isn’t so annoyingly nosy as she researched and follows leads.

Although this is book #6 in the series, it can be read as a stand alone easily.

Local library director Amy Webber Muir and her new husband Richard Muir are settling into newlywed life when Amy's Aunt Lydia, who is also their next door neighbor, comes to Amy for help with her best friend Zelda who has found a dead body in her garden gazebo.

Fifty year old secrets, reunions, artistic temperaments and a cast of colorful characters and suspects make this fast moving mystery very entertaining.

They mystery part of the story had me guessing to the end.

I was given of copy of this book in return for an honest review.
