I received an ARC of, Heartcross Castle, by Christie Barlow. This was an ok story, I like the characters of Grace and Andrew. I did not like the 3 boys, they were brats.
Another stunning book in the Love Heart Lane series. Full of warmth, cheerfulness and with some new characters. Loved it!
Firstly I didnt realise that this was part of a series, although that was completely my fault. However, I dont think that I was hindered by that and I was able to read it as a standalone without thinking that I had missed much.
This was a quick, easy and adorable read with some relatable and likeable characters and some not so much, but they still add a level to the narrative. I really enjoyed it.
Another in the Love Heart Lane series and it has been a real joy to read this. It can be read as a standalone but the whole series makes for a wonderful read. There is another book coming out later as well, can't wait. Well worth 5 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this e ARC
I was captivated by this story from the beginning. Loved the characters, the journey each took, and the plot that flowed so easily.
Grace made a poor decision as a teen that led to years of no communication. But, Grace did not have an easy life. She is in desperate need to escape her circumstances with her three children when she learns her Grandfather has passed and has left her Heartcross Castle. With no where else to go, they scrape together money and travel to where Grace grew up. Grace and the boys have a lot of work to make the castle a home, but they are determined to do it.
Grace does a lot of self reflecting, learns to live with her regrets, and embraces the community she once fled from. Beautiful, heartfelt story about life choices, and learning to forgive oneself.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Another fabulous book by Christie Barlow in the Love Heart Lane series, I have enjoyed all the books but particularly loved this one. Grace has put up with a toxic relationship and it has affected the youngest of her three boys so much that he doesn't speak. When Grace receives a letter from her grandfather’s solicitor saying her grandfather has died and she has inherited the castle it is a lifeline enabling her to take her three boys and start a new life.
I liked Grace and loved her three mischievous boys, Andrew Glossop, the famous chef renting the servants part of the castle (together with his visiting mother) is much harder to like. Hector, the old gardener, added so much to the story, what a lovely grandfather figure he was who helped Grace and the boys so much. For me this book is definitely five stars, the setting, the characters and the friendships amounted to a book I couldn’t put down
I was so delighted to be invited to review Christie Barlow's latest. Couldn't wait to get started and I wasn't disappointed!
If you've read other books in this series you'll be familiar with Heartcross Castle. Dive on in because here we learn more about the castle itself and especially about its new owner.
Devoured this in 24 hours - highly recommended!
What a truly lovely read this was! It’s the 7th book in the Love Heart Lane series, but can easily be read as a standalone book. We reconnect briefly with some of the residents of Heartcross, who we have met in the other books, but this book does focus on Grace, grand-daughter of Marley Power who owns the Heartcross Castle estate, and her three children. Grace has returned to Heartcross, following the death of her grandfather, after many years away. He’s left Heartcross Castle to her, but it’s certainly not the grand majestic castle that she remembers it was!
I read that the author really struggled with writing this book. However, whatever struggles she went through, by the time I’ve got to the last page it’s obvious that she got through them and a fabulous feel-good romantic story had emerged!! I have read all of the previous books, and have loved them all! This though has to be my favourite of the series so far and I loved being within the Castle walls with Grace and her three beautiful boys! Celebrity chef, Andrew Glossop took a bit of warming to, but I couldn’t help but smile and giggle as Grace’s boys played their pranks on him!
I loved Grace’s character and sympathised with her situation. It was heart-warming to see her return to her childhood home and friends, but very sad that she never got to make amends with her grandfather. The location of the book was perfect and I could picture the Castle and its grounds as I read. The spot of my favourite character though has to be reserved for one of the feathered ones, by the name of Delia, who always seemed to be causing just as much mischief as Grace’s boys did!
The book flowed along at a lovely pace, and it was filled with lots of love, laughter, friends and family. It was an absolutely wonderful read which captured my interest (and heart!) right from the very beginning. I was genuinely sorry to finish the book and I’m really looking forward to my next visit to Heartcross! Would definitely recommend!!
This was a very cute romantic story. I always love when stories focus on beautiful settings of hotels/cottages and have the hate to lovers type vibe and this book was a similar troupe but still unique and beautiful. Highly recommend

Love Heart Lane – where friends are there for you no matter what
A second chance…
When her grandfather Marley passes away Grace Power discovers she’s been left the beautiful but crumbling estate of Heartcross Castle. As a single mum of three, Grace has no idea what she’s going to do with it – but who can say no to a roof over their kids’ heads and a chance to get away from past hurts?
And a forever home
Heartcross Castle is full of secrets – especially a lost security deposit box that holds the truth to everything… But when celebrity chef Andrew Glossop sets his eyes on the castle and, to make matters worse, mistakes Grace as the new housekeeper, Grace tells him there is absolutely NO CHANCE he is getting his hands on her home.
Devastated to have got it so wrong, Andrew will do anything to make it up to her – but is she willing to listen?
Another fab read in the Love Heart Lane series, where the main focus is Grace going home to Heartcross after running away at sixteen.
With characters you will love a few annoying ones this a joyful read.
I absolutely adore this series and think this particular story would make a perfect Hallmark movie.
Heartcross always sounds wonderful with a great community, a place I would certainly love to visit if it was real.
I highly recommend you pick up this little delight.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love the Love Heart Lane series and this adds to the collection! The castle and to have it inherited and return to a former life. Grace and her three boys return home and this where there adventure begins. Like the love interest Andrew and the bond they share from the beginning. Loved to read the other places part of the Lane too!
How exciting to inherit a castle. The surprise is true condition of that castle and no money. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Family dynamics...grudges...little children with a mom...exhusband or is he an ex? Where is he? Neighbors...new love...it is all on this book with characters who adjust to a new way of living. A quick read...just needed a little more about the main character and her ex.
This was such a welcome return to Heartcross and also for our main character Grace it was exactly what she needed the most.
Grace left Heartcross 10 years ago following a heated argument with her Grandad. Over the last decade Grace's life has changed drastically and she is still carrying the physical and emotional scars of a disastrous relationship. Even though she's now the mother of three boys she has never felt so alone. When she hears of the sad passing of her grandad she understands that this is the escape she needs for her and her boys and it's now time to go home.
Grace has inherited her late grandad's castle and she feels a glimmer of hope for the future. The castle in the past was her home and held many good memories but was overshadowed by the last conversation with her grandad. Arriving at the castle Grace is dismayed to find it in need of some serious tlc bringing further worries and hurdles for her to overcome.
Grace was a wonderful character to read about, she had spirit as a child but sadly a toxic relationship made her lose her zest for life. The best thing to come out of this disastrous ten years were her 3 boys. The boys were such fun and added another dimension to the storyline bringing lightness to dark times.
Not only has she ben left the castle but she also was left a tenant, non other than celebrity chef Andrew Glover. Andrew Glover's life couldn't be any different to Grace's and they soon clash but slowly as time goes on Andrew can see that this young family bring a certain energy back to the castle and grounds.
I loved this story. Seeing the castle through the eyes of Grace and her boys was charming and nostalgic but i also felt pangs of poignancy.
Christie Barlow has created a story of new beginnings bringing much hope for the future. There's that wonderful community spirit that we've enjoyed from the residents of Heartcross leaving a comforting ambiance. I didn't want the story to end but for Grace and her boys this is the beginning of a brand new adventure were life can be enjoyed again.
I would classify "Heartcross Castle" as chick-lit. I hadn't realised until I finished the book that it is one of a series about the fictional small town of Heartcross. The place names are rather twee but the story has a bit of guts to it. It is very romantic and obvious as soon as they meet that the main characters will fall in love. The story is a bit far fetched but OK for some escapism on a cold/wet day.
Thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this book.
Oh my days this book is amazing.
I love the back story of how graces grandfather got the castle.
It is one amazing story just wish it hadn't ended I loved it so much.
I don't want to give spoilers so it is hard to say what I loved about the story but let's just say the last chapter gave me a warm tingle and a smile 😃 all over my face.
Thank you Christie Barlow for this book.
Can't wait to buy it.
Having not read any of the previous books in the series I had no expectations of this however I had no issues with keeping up with the characters despite not knowing their backgrounds. The main characters in this are bereaved Grace who has inherited a castle from her estranged grandfather which provides a much needed safe home for her and her three sons and her celebrity chef tenant Andrew. I loved the location and the warmth of the characters, Grace is a wonderful mum and despite mischievous moments her kids are exceptionally well trained, Andrew has never wanted for anything material and has no concept of real life especially when it comes to budgeting which provided a good contrast to cash strapped Grace. I personally didn’t think there was that much animosity between the two but otherwise to a delightful read, 7/10
I was so excited to read Heartcross castle as I have loved all the love heart lane series and this has to be my new favourite!
A real heartwarming feel good read with a fantastic diverse range of new characters blended with many familiar faces from previous books made this a truly great read that I didn’t want to finish,it enthralled me from start to finish and really epitomises that you shouldn’t put off what you can do today as tomorrow is never guaranteed!
Grace a single mum of three boys is a victim of domestic abuse and very much down on her luck, when an important letter from her estranged grandfathers solicitor arrives, this letter provides the opportunity for change but Grace is wary of returning home to Heartcross castle due to the way she left many years ago!
Grace and her boys discover real happiness as friends rally around to help them, a new acquaintance provides a necessary diversion and family secrets are revealed!
Such a feel good read full of community spirit, second chances, honesty and happiness!
Thank you netgalley for this early read
I really enjoy this series from Christie Barlow. The writing flows easily and reading about the locals is enjoyable. This book had a slightly darker theme than the rest of the series, but the focus wasn’t on that so it worked out in the end.
I’m not a mom but Grace’s attitude towards her kids ruining a tv crew filming was a bit strange. Time is honestly money there and someone had to pick up the tab to reshoot that whole segment her kids ruined. She just laughs and walks off. Gave me a distaste for her to be honest.
I read this in one evening and it was a decent read to curl up with.
Wow!!!! What another fantastic instalment in this series. Loved the new characters and the old in this nee book about Heartcross., Can’t wait for the next instalment
I devoured this book in one sitting it’s good to see all the old characters interact with the new.
Heartcross is a viklisge that I would love to live in.
Fantastic series by a very talented author
Highly recommend
This was a wonderful and a truly fun read!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Heartcross Castle. It's a highly compelling, heart warming and light hearted story about relationships, making choices, secrets, change, family, new beginnings and friendships.
Grace and Andrew were interesting characters, I really liked that the reader got to understand both points of view in regards to their thought process and decisions.
These characters you will wished you knew in real life. That's how these characters made me feel.
I enjoyed the friendship between the characters, a real close-knit community, always there for each other, no matter what. I was amazing.
Christie Barlow keeps her readers intrigued with the romance aspect but over all it is way more than a romance novel. Friendship and community play a big part and this books is full of it.
A heartfelt and warming story that stole heart.
A total warm and cosy story, I couldn't stop reading.... I need more of this.
One More Chapter,
Thank You so much for this ebook!
