Ahhhh the wait was worth it. Nico and Violet are my new favorite magical couple. I loved this lovers to friends to lovers couple. This book has everything: humor, steam and magic. An absolute summer must-read
This series, oh this series! I love love love the Savoie sisters so much, and this latest installment with Violet is *chef's kiss.*
What's not to love? Witches, werewolves, a rooster in a bowtie, enchanted tattoos, New Orleans and so much more.
Plus, the chemistry & steam between Nico & Violet is 🔥🔥🔥.
If you haven't read this series yet what's stopping you? There's witty banter, there's mystery, there's supernatural fun and there's lots of steam. Always steam.
When Nico and Violet meet at a bar, they hit it off right away but Violet leaves town right after they hook up and she figures she'll never see him again. She knows that her one true guy is out there and she's waiting for him to show up. Her relationships don't last long, she moves on pretty fast after she hooks up with someone. She thinks she'll know when she meets the one guy for her.
So when Nico turns up in New Orleans, Violet is surprised but after doing a tarot reading on herself she's sure that Nico isn't the true love that she's been waiting for even though she lusts after him and is completely infatuated with him. She likes him and doesn't want to chance hurting him if they hook up and she ultimately dumps him a short time later. So she chooses to keep him at an arms distance away and keep her feelings to herself. Or so she thinks because he knows that she has feelings for him and pushes her buttons more than once. But when she spies him flirting with another girl, she can't stop the surge of jealousy that goes through her. Nico and Violet end up seeing where their relationship will go after they finally stop ignoring their feelings for each other.
Some members of Nico's old pack end up coming into town and barge into Violet's tattoo shop because she's a witch and is working on something that might help them. Nico and his old pack are werewloves so Nico gets all territorial and a little blood thirsty because he wants to keep the other members of his old pack away from Violet. Nico and Violet are working on getting to know one another better and on their relationship. Nico already knows that Violet is his mate but he hasn't brought that up to Violet yet. So when Violet goes missing, it's all he can do to keep it together and make sure he doesn't lose control and kill all of them when he finds out who has kidnapped her.
One of my favorite parts of this book is the Grims helping to find Violet and helping again towards the end of the book. We don't know much about the family of Grims but they are very interesting and I hope we see a lot more of them in the future.
Violet wants to use her magic to help all werewolves but she's going to need help in order to do that.
Disclosure: I was given an e-ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
4.5 stars-- WITCHES GET STITCHES is the third instalment in Juliette Cross’ contemporary, adult STAY A SPELL paranormal, romance series focusing on the Savoie sisters of New Orleans, Louisiana. This is witch /seer/tattoo artist Violet Savoie, and werewolf shifter/musician/business owner Nico Cruz’s story line. WITCHES GET STITCHES can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order.
SOME BACKGROUND: Hundreds of years earlier, a witch placed a curse on a man who would become the first werewolf. Fast forward to present day, wherein most of the supernatural community believes the werewolves are the lowest of the low, discriminating against an entire species.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Nico and Violet) WITCHES GET STITCHES follows the building romance and relationship between one-hundred and three year old werewolf Nico Cruz, and witch /seer Violet Savoie. Nico Cruz’s inner wolf knows Violet Savoie is their mate but Violet is a Tarot reader, and her cards revealed nothing but death and darkness for our story line couple, so our heroine kept Nico in the friend zone for a couple more years. Moving to New Orleans, and investing in Violet’s tattoo business brought Nico up close and personal with the woman that called to his heart but Nico’s former wolf pack, The Blood Moon Pack, needs something from our story line heroine, and Nico’s wolf is about to lose his control. What ensues is the slow building romance and relationship between Nico and Violet, and the potential fall-out as the history between the werewolves, and the other supernatural creatures is about to take center stage.
Violet Savoie believes she and Nico are destined to die. Her Tarot readings reveal nothing but darkness and doom for our storyline couple, therefore Violet keeps her distance from the man that stirs something deep within but Nico’s former Pack wants something from our heroine, something she has yet to develop or use. Nico Cruz wants nothing more than to claim Violet as his fated mate but Violet keeps her heart walled to the man with whom she will fall in love.
The relationship between Violet and Nico is a friends to lovers, workplace romance between two people fated by DNA and time. Violet and Nico’s jealousy of others proves that each wants what the other one is offering but Nico has yet to prove that he is worthy of our heroine’s love. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and intense but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word.
Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of supernatural, magical and colorful secondary and supporting characters including Isadora’s sisters Evie and Mateo (Wolf Gone Wild #1), Devraj and Isadora (Don’t Hex and Drive #1) Jules, Clara, Livvy, Tia; grim reapers alka Grims Henry, Gareth, and Sean Blackwater; tattooists Lindsey Farmer, warlock Tom Bounyasang, and Zaire; ancient vampire and New Orleans’ overlord Ruben Dubois; Blood Moon Pack wolves Shane, Rhett and Ty; and humans and bartenders JJ and Charlie, who work for Violet at the family owned bar, The Cauldron.
WITCHES GET STITCHES is another story of family, friendships, relationships and love; of desperation and power, magic and control. The premise is exciting and entertaining; the romance is provocative and seductive- the sexual chemistry is palpable; the characters are sassy, energetic and often fun. WITCHES GET STITCHES is a wonderful, quirky, and delightful addition to Juliette Cross’ STAY A SPELL paranormal series.

Another great story in this series! I read all 3 books back to back and loved them all. Can't wait to see what the future brings for this bunch of paranormals.
Thank you to the author and to NetGalley for providing me with an eArc in exchange for an honest review!
This book was addictive!!
Take the Brown sister trilogy and mix it with magic and you have this series and I love it! You fall in love with the characters from the start and the sexual tension is unmatched!
Violet and Nico meet at a party one night and instantly connect. However Violet is a Seer and has the ability to find her soul mate. She doesnt think Nico is such and therefore runs away. Years later Nico hasnt forgotten about Violet and will do everything in his power to win her over.
Violet doesnt take and shit and is everything you could want in a main character. Nico is the take no shit male character that is secretly the biggest softie!
Its offical, I'm in love with this series and cant wait for the next installment!!
This was the first book I have read by this author, and I have to say that I was incredibly impressed. The paranormal genre has always been a favorite, but the last few years I have really found it hard to find an author that could pull me in. Not only did Juliette Cross succeed in pulling me in and keeping my attention, but she also told a story that kept me completely riveted throughout. It was a bonus that the story was set in New Orleans, a city that I am familiar with and miss very much. This book is easily one of my top ten favorite reads so far this year!
The author created a truly remarkable cast of characters! I found Violet to be extremely likeable. Her stubbornness with regards to her relationship Nico kept just the right amount of friction in the story to make it interesting but was not overdone in a way that would start to frustrate the reader. I liked that Nico ignored Violet’s stubbornness and ingrained himself in her life in a way that she could not ignore. The chemistry between these two characters was off the charts!
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good paranormal romance with a lot of steam. The storyline was interesting without being over-the-top, so it was easy to imagine I was right there watching the back and forth between Violet and Nico. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I absolutely love this series, and was so happy to head back to New Orleans with the Savoy witches ~ along with werewolves, vampires, and grim ~ for Nico and Violet's story.
This book drew me in right away with the flashback to Nico and Violet's first meeting, and then the slow burn had me dying for them to finally get together! All of you friends to lovers fans definitely need to add this one to your list. Violet and Nico had such a solid foundation of friendship for their relationship, which just made it that much better when they finally crossed that line.
The Savoy sisters are as funny as ever in this one. I love their constant meddling and teasing, but under it all they're fiercely loyal. All of the side characters brought so much to the story as well, and I'm already dying to get my hands on the next book.
Juliette Cross continues to amaze me with each new book in this series. This one features another swoonworthy alpha, as well as an independent heroine. In addition to the love story between Violet and Nico, I liked seeing them open their tattoo shop and Violet work her magic with tattoos. I seriously can't wait to see what Juliette has in store for us with the rest of this series.
If you love rom-coms, paranormal romance, or a bit of both, definitely get your hands on Witches Get Stitches asap!
Thank you Juliette Cross for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
We're back again in New Orleans and this time it's our favourite sassy tattoo artist witch Violet whose romantic entanglements become front and centre. This series continues to be a whole lot of fun, although I found that the plot errs on the side of "slice of life" kind of content instead of the action packed, fast paced arcs that are more common in the genre. So while I keep expecting something big to happen almost all the time and usually fall short with these expectations, in the end I'm never too bothered because I enjoy the everyday supernatural shenanigans of this group of characters way too much to be bored.
If you like pining, this is the witchy book for you. Nico and Violet has had a considerable setting up to their romance in previous books, so we didn't start from zero and still, there was SO. MUCH. PINING. No complaints though, I do love a good mutual pining based story when it comes to my romances and these two had a whole lot of chemistry together. I also greatly appreciated the complete lack of slut shaming and "not like other girls" syndrome. Violet unashamedly likes sex and takes no prisoners, and it never becomes an issue or a point of contention either with Nico or with anyone else. It was refreshing to see.
What really surprised me is how sweet this book ended up being. I was expecting a lot more swiping at each other and fighting and a lot less cute factor. Underneath the leather and tattoos, both of these silly gooses are giant marshmallows at heart and they were kind of adorable.
I CANNOT wait for the holiday novella short story collection, this series has become such a great source of escapism for me and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible. Happy pub day to Witches Get Stiches and thank you Netgalley and Juliette Cross for the advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review!
Major happenings in this installment of Juliette Cross' Stay a Spell series. The werewolves have a major role in this one starting with Savoie sister Violet and musician werewolf Nico Cruz. Talk about hot scenes! I loved everything about this story. This is a great series and I can't wait to see what the Savoie sisters have in store for our reading pleasure next.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
CW: violence
While the series are standalones they are interconneted and I do think the best experience would be reading them in order.
I would recommend if you're looking for (SPOILERS)
-m/f friends to lovers
-second chance romance
-fated mates
-paranormal romance
- a rowdy rooster
-so much mutual pining
This book had so much pining and sexual tension. It was so much fun to revisit this world that I've been truly enjoying and watching each sister find love. I loved how both Violet and Nico supported the other whole heartedly with their dreams and desires.
The build up to them finally get together was excellent and really paid off. Nico really respected Violet's process and was infinitely patient with her. All of the little signs of his pining, his music, the statute, were just so sweet. I really enjoyed how independent Violet was yet they complimented each other very well.
I am excited to see which sister is next in the series.
Rating: 4
Steam: 3.5
I really love this series so much. Each couple has been wonderful in their own ways and each story has had its own plot line but it’s so lovely to see the threads to the other couples in past books.
Nico and Violet were absolutely fire in this book. Their chemistry was off the charts and I loved how well they complimented each other. How Violet held away from him for so long, I’ll never know… but sure amped up the burn.
Can’t wait for the next book!
Another good read in the series from the author. Violet’s character was a hoot to read and her pairing with Nico provided some entertaining moments. The likeable characters in this great series succeed in keeping readers returning for more shenanigans from the Savoie sisters and their wonderful friends. The secondary characters keep the eyebrows raising and the interest piqued of readers. Each great story in the Stay a Spell series makes one wait eagerly for the next instalment from author Juliette Cross.

Witches Get Stitches is the third book in the Stay a Spell series that centers around the Savoie sisters and the magical creatures of New Orleans. We have witches, vampires, werewolves and even grim reapers, who are super mysterious even in this world of supernatural creatures. I haven’t read the other two books in this series, so it’s possible to in to the series without doing so, but I think readers will definitely get more out of the experience if they read in order.
Violet is a powerful witch who dreams of opening her own tattoo parlor someday and during an apprenticeship in Austin she meets the enigmatic werewolf Nico. They’re immediately drawn to each other, but their paths won’t cross again until a few months later.
This book was a great blend of sweet and sexy. We get a pretty steamy scene at the beginning of the book, but then the switch seems to flip at the halfway point and 🔥. Violet and Nico both feel drawn to each other in a way that feels like they were fated, but neither is bold enough to put the words into action. It’s very satisfying when it finally happens. I love that Violet makes it her passion to use her magic and tattoo prowess to help fight the prejudices werewolves face in the supernatural world. I also thought the werewolf origin story was an interesting one and I enjoyed the backstory
This was such a fun book! I will definitely be reading the other two books in this series - and have already recommended it to a friend with similar interests. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy.
Witches Get Stitches is the third book in the Stay a Spell companion series that follows the Savoie sisters. Each book focuses on one of the sisters and their romance/story. This is the second book I've read in the series (I still have to go back and read the first). I was luke warm towards Don't Hex and Drive but that was not the case with Witches Get Stitches!
This book focuses on Violet. A fiery girl who is a seer with a big dream. To open up a tattoo shop that tattoos permanent spells into the supernaturals. Like to give werewolves better control over their beast side. This she feels is especially right for Nico, her business partner. A business partner with ulterior motives. Being getting Violet to fall in love with him.
This third book was definetely a step up from book 2 for me. Maybe it was because I knew what I was getting into. I knew the sisters and the world a lot better than I did when I started reading book 2. While you can read them as standalones I would suggest reading them in order because you just get a better feel for the dynamics of the family and those surrounding them.
It was addictive to read and I steamed through it in one evening. The sexual tension between Violet and Nico steamed of the pages and I wanted nothing more than for them to get together. Violet however has her reasons for keeping her distance and it takes her some time to work through them.
But there are other elements besides the romance that made me like this book. I really liked the idea of casting spells into tattoos that could help supernatural beings. Combining magic with something that is nowadays very normal to have is a great idea. Ink and magic do always work great together.
There is also just the whole family portion that feels very heart warming. The relationships Violet has with her sisters, their partners and just about everyone around them feels like one big community. A supernatural community. One with problems as Violet points out. They discriminate against werewolves, always thinking they are up to bad things. That they are wild and out of control. When in reality, they want nothing more than control over their lives again.
A great third book in a series that you should really be starting!
I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. Witches Get Stitches is the third book in Juliet Cross’s delightful Stay A Spell series. I think you will enjoy this book more if you have read the first two. The series is about a family of witches, and characters from the previous books strongly feature this one. Violet Savoie plans to open her own tattoo shop, and she wants to use spelled tattoos to help witches focus. Vampires control their blood lust and give werewolves more control over their wolf side. Those pesky feelings for Nico Cruz are something she’s keeping buried because she’s convinced that a relationship with the handsome werewolf could only lead to heartbreak for them both. Besides, she doesn’t do relationships anyways. Nico knew Violet was the one for him the first time he saw her, and he’s willing to be patient and play the long game to win her heart, but damn, it’s hard, especially when his wolf wants to claim what he sees as his. This was a fun book to read, the perfect balance of angst, humour and steam. I enjoyed it very much and am looking forward to reading more about the Savoie sisters. Steam Level: Medium. I didn’t know if I would like violets story, but I absolutely am In love with Violet and Nico. I love that Violet does tattoos,(as a lover of tattoos) and I love getting the gang vibe off of Nico throughout the book
I adore this whole series! Werewolves, witches, vampires, and grims.. Oh my!! While its not necessary to read the first two books in the series before this one, I highly recommend reading them in order, as getting to know the characters in previous books makes this couples HEA so much better! Witches Get Stitches (and before I continue, does this series not have the GREATEST titles??!) follows Nico, a werewolf, and Violet the smart sassy witch he is in business with, and also hopelessly in love with. While Nico uses his charm and his *ahem* other skills to get Violet to realize she wants to be with him as well, a werewolf gang with seemingly nefarious plans for Violet, shows up in town and starts to cause some serious trouble for our couple.
This book is equal parts fun, sexy, romantic, and A+ swoon worthy! The series keeps getting better and better and also nicely sets up future books. I CANT WAIT for a book about those mysterious Grims!
Violet Savoie and Nico super cute and I was thrilled to see that they were the next couple in the Stay a Spell series. After we met Mateo, another werewolf, in the first book, I was eager to learn more about the curse on werewolves and how they fit (or don't fit) into the supernatural society. This book is definitely spicy, but it has a good balance of plot development and spice. I would highly recommend this book to fans of romance/fantasy authors like Darynda Jones, Abigail Owen, and MaryJanice Davidson.
Witches Get Stitches may be the sexiest story yet in the Stay a Spell series. That's saying something, as the prior books were plenty steamy. This story was crazy sexual tension for the first half, and then plenty of wild sexy times thereafter. One story line delves into the issue of racism, framed within the author's supernatural world and characters. Really well done. I'm impressed by the world building and character development in this series. So many teasers for future books woven in too. I'm enjoying this series and look forward to more.
