When New York City brings together an East German girl and an American boy—anything can happen—maybe even love.
Brigitte Muller revels in the glamor and intrigue of her new life as a successful banking analyst, but when her boyfriend moves out and in with another girl, Brigitte realizes she needs a roommate, and fast.
The moment want-to-be screenwriter Connor Duncan arrives in the city, his ex who he thought he would move in with refuses to reconcile, and thus he’s left homeless.

Luckily, fate intervenes bringing together Brigitte and Connor, who find themselves fascinated with the fast-paced, ever-present wonders of the city… and each other.

A Sweet and Endearing read about two people who have bigger dreams & even bigger hearts.
NYC backdrop just adds more charm to the book.

Multiple POV little love story.Brigette and Connor couldn't be more different but when circumstances lead them to become roommates they form a friendship that could blossom into something much more and so special. Pretty good quick read though the changing POV was hard to follow sometimes.

Set in the dazzling city of New York, this story follows Bridget and Conner on their journey to their happy ever after. Sadly, I found the book extremely over written and unnecessarily wordy. This made it come across as confusing, and hard to get through. If your looking for forced proximity trope, and a little sizzle but mostly fade to black closed door romance, you’ll like this. This story is lighter, slightly predictable, and almost hallmark like read.

This story follows Brigitte Muller and Connor Duncan who are both recently single and in need of a roommate.

The story was a really beautiful and magical romance and I really liked it.

In the start I wasn't happy with the characters, Brigitte seemed very superficial and even though it's understandable, Connor being hooked up on his ex. But I ended up rooting for both the characters, they grew on me and that's great!

Overall I had fun reading this book!

Thank you Netgalley and Monty C. Floyd for sending me a free ARC copy of Female Preferred in exchange for an honest review. Female Preferred was a sweet romcom story with two very likable characters, Brigitte and Connor. A stroke of fate brings them into each other lives and they become roommates in New York City. Romantic feelings begin to grow and the story unfolds from there. I enjoyed this book and was rooting for a happy ending for these characters. The writing was quite choppy which disrupted the flow of the story at times. I enjoyed the changing POVs throughout the chapters and the overall story kept me hooked until the end.

Thank you to Netgalley and Monty C. Floyd for this Arc.

The thing that first stood out to me was the cover, it’s beautiful and was the reason I requested this book.

I loved the story and the characters, but the best part for me was the writing style, I enjoyed how it flicked between first and third person narrative, at first it took me by surprise but as the story went on I loved it, it was different and really held my attention

This was slightly hard to get into due to the writing. It was a little choppy but the story overall was ok and sweet.

I had a hard time reading this one. I LOVE rom coms, even the most cheesy and predictable. However, this one wasn’t cheesy, and even though it was a predictable plot - the writing was so all over the place it made it unpredictable; but not in a great way.

I also found a few things problematic - most notably is that often people are described by their race first (even if their race has nothing to do with advancing the plot), to the point that it makes you think the main characters are quite shallow and the first thing they notice about someone is their race (they live in NYC … how is it surprising?). Or, they are ONLY described by their race….

But then, other aspects of the book are so detailed. Too detailed maybe. There are so many names - within the first two chapters I couldn’t keep people and places straight. Even place the characters went to had a street address - 59th and 6th, 27th and 8th etc. Never just “a few blocks away” or “adjacent to Central Park”. I felt I needed a map; as someone who has travelled to NY many times, my mind was constantly reverting to trying to figure out where these places were on a map … and there are SO many addresses given, it completely distracts you from the reading.

Perhaps this one just wasn’t for me. As a lover of NYC based rom coms, maybe I’ve just read too many and this one just strays too far from my favourites. But unfortunately, while straying from my norm, it did not excite me, it fell flat.

The writing was so playful, also enjoyable to read. Both these characters were so relatable.
If you're looking for something to kick a reading slump or if you just want a fun, romantic book to sweep you off your feet this summer: look no further. Beautiful cover too!

Such a sweet book! The cover is absolutely gorgeous! It was impossible not to be curious about the story after seeing it. At first, I wasn't so sure if I was enjoying it, but later on the characters grew on me. Sometimes it may seem like things are happening too slowly, and sometimes too rushed. But still, a great read for romance fans.

This was a Hallmark-like romance based in New York City. I found the characters to be well-rounded and well-developed. I enjoyed the two different character POVs. I found this book hard to get into and the writing was a bit choppy.

The chemistry falls off the pages with the characters in Female Preferred. Quaint, quirky and Judy endearing enough to give you a toothache … in a positive way.

This is such a sweet love story. Romance is one of my favourite genres and I can say that this was a well done romance. The characters were well developed and they had a very special connection. Their chemistry was off the charts, and the steaminess was a perfect amount. They had instant chemistry, and it was maintained throughout the book.

This book always focuses on other themes, like focusing and careers and balancing personal life with that. It's focuses on friendships, and how they can impact you.

[SPOILER AHEAD] And yes, I love a good happy ending, wrapped up with a bow on top. I love a big gesture moment, and steamy kiss at the end and a time gap to show the happy ending. And we got that.

If you're a fan of Jane The Virgin (especially Jane and Raphael) , you might like this too. And all the Ross and Rachel stans are gonna adore this one. I'd personally love to see this as a movie one day because this is gonna be a perfect rom com

Overall, the book was good. The plot was a great concept. However, there were times I skipped pages.

This was the perfect hallmark live story in NYC! This story is told from multiple point of views which really made it come alive. This story follows Bridgett who needs a roommate and Conner who just found out his long distance girlfriend is no longer interested in him doesn’t want him to move in anymore. This brings these two together for this adorable roommates to lovers perfect storm of a romance.

Thank you @netgalley for the book for an honest review. I love any story that takes place in New York. It is so fun when the characters go to places that you have been so you get more into the story. I loved the way the story was told from two different characters and how they would come out and talk to you like you were listening to a story from someone. It was a good story and I liked seeing the characters from where they started and to where they ended up. I could see this book easily turned into a movie..

Brigitte, a German girl finding a way for herself the big city of New York, when Connor, an American aspiring writer, moves in when Brigitte is looking for a roommate. A love story between roommates overcoming the competing priorities of careers and aspirations and moving past exes and past loves.

It seems to be set in the early 2000s, with references to Nokia phones , CDs and memories shared of East Germany before the wall fell is described by Brigitte, but it is largely a story out of time. It is a story of love in New York, and the city with all its glittering lights, striving workers and opportunity is definitely a bit of a character.

I enjoyed the way the chapters were named after characters or places rather than simply numbered. I am also a fan of only having a single character depicted as the first person narrator - in this book while there are several chapters in the third person, only Connor have first person narration.

This book was unfortunately difficult to get into, the flow of the characters, particularly early on in the story was stilted. Each character is consistent and believable, but the flow of conversation and scene setting was slightly irregular. The pacing of the story was variable and I found that too many supporting characters made it difficult at times to focus on the central romance.

I love romcoms and Female Preffered is a cute romcom that reminds me somewhat of New Girl/Jane The Virgin.

Floyd’s characters were well developed and it was a HEA, however, the writing/story didn’t flow well for me.

Bridgette and Connor meet when she is looking for a flatmate, she lists that it’s a “female preferred” situation, but my guy Connor ends up renting.

Rating 2.5
This book looked very promising and I was quite excited to read it. Romance is one of my favourite genres and I'm a sucker for rom-com and happy endings, exactly what this book has.
The story started the right way but I have to say the writing was very confusing. The narrator's voice changed so drastically that I had no idea what perspective I was reading from. Also, I'm not sure if it was the format in which I read it or what, but there were many disarranged sentences and misplaced quotations marks making the dialogues even more confusing. This made it really hard for me to connect with the story.
The characters had chemistry but their love story lacked development for me. It seemed that they met and they were already in love, but we don't really get to see the process. It felt a bit shallow.
Even though the narrator's voice makes more sense at the end, it was still a tad weird to read most part of the book.
That said, I really liked the ending, it was very round and the kind of happy ending I love.
