There are times in life when things just don't turn out the way you thought they would. For Lottie Jones, this has become a reality - no boy, no job and a future that is as confusing as it is blank. Enter an unexpected career field, a cute, relationship adverse co-worker, plenty of glitz glamour and you have all the makings for an interesting story. Without a Hitch by Mary Hollis Huddleston and Asher Fogle Paul will make readers laugh and cheer for Lottie as she works to achieve goals she never knew she had. Entertaining and worth the read.
If you are obsessed with you own wedding but it never goes through is your fault? Of course its your fault if you haven't told the groom that you were planning to get married. With this outcome of heartbreak why would Lottie take this a sign from god that she must be a wedding facilitator. At first it is the flowers and now she is an event an wedding organiser.
This book follows Lottie all over the US and Mexico with her fine details for wedding magic, both with wedding mishaps and wedding triumphs Lottie seems to be making friends, dating guys and trying not to fall in love with her closest male friend and part-time colleague.
The author crafted a good book here that added some mystery towards the end to show all hope was not lost for our main character's career and love life. But I wanted more romance or more comedy, there were genuinely comedic scenes but the author did not play into the hilarity apart from the creepy scene of a bride spending time with the ghost of her dad.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from #netgalley , thank you. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
"Without a Hitch": 3⭐
(Unpaid Review: thank you to @netgalley, @maryhollishuddleston, @asherpaul and the publishers for allowing me to read this eArc copy in exchange for a review.)
What intrigued me most about this book was its description: "Sweet Home Alabama meets Crazy Rich Asians meets The Devil Wears Prada", I mean, hello? How can it not be fun?
And it was fun. Super enjoyable with loads of #laughoutloud moments. As a fan of wedding planning shows, I knew I'd enjoy this one. But, it just felt really short for me.

This was so cute! I loved the crazy antics and the stories from the weddings. To think that there are actually weddings like that.. it's hilarious! I liked the character growth from all of the characters. It had a feel-good ending, but I honestly wanted more! I still have so many questions! Such a good read, you won't regret it.
At first, I would like to thank Netgalley and Harper Muse for allowing me to review this book. Keep in mind that my review, however, is my true opinion on this book.
"Without a hitch" is a lovely and cute story by Mary Hollis Huddleston and Asher Fogle Paul!
Planning your wedding before even being proposed to? Well, I guess you can do that. At least that is what Lottie did. And then Brody and she broke up. Who would have thought that Lottie would end up as a wedding planner just seven years later? But it does not always go as planned. Or it nearly never does. Sometimes it can be a true mess, but it can be an enjoyable story and a fun read.
This book caught me by the first page. And I was kept interested all the way to the end.
I really enjoyed reading about the different weddings and all of the crazy ideas. I mean, no idea is too crazy for a wedding, apparently.
Also, Lottie is an enjoyable character. I loved getting to explore her as a character and to see her grow. Also, to experience how she becomes more confident and comfortable with herself. She is indeed an inspiring character even though she does not always take the best of the best choices.
Also, this book covers a lot of different aspects of life and furthermore teaches all of us a lesson or two about life.
Give this one a chance! You will not regret it! It is such a fun and enjoyable book!
I was so super excited to read this book. The genre and description are exactly the kind of books I love. It started out strong enough, I felt for poor Lottie. Unfortunately, I started to get a little annoyed as the book progressed. It was dragging a little bit, and Griffin just seemed way too complicated, and a lot of the time without reasoning. I found I wasn’t rooting for them, which is problematic with a romcom! It also seemed like the resolution was just slapped on the end, it didn’t really tie everything together in regards to how things had been going before.
Without a Hitch is such a fun look into the world of high-end weddings and all the craziness that ensues. The hi-jinks are sure to make you laugh out loud more than once. Even more importantly, it is a wonderful look into the importance of changing our personal goals and growing as a person. We don't always have to follow the plans we laid out at 20! There are a few places where to book dragged a bit, and I did have trouble keeping all of the secondary characters straight at times. Nevertheless, Without a Hitch is an enjoyable read about finding yourself.
I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.
I was so excited when I saw this book on #NetGalley and I got an #arc of Without a Hitch. It looked straight up my alley. They description was right up my alley. I used to be an event planner and helped plan weddings at my former job. I'm sorry to say this fell super short for me.
Lottie is devastated over her wedding that never was. The story opens on what would be her wedding day but insta because Brody, her college sweetheart/star quarterback heading to the NFL, ended their relationship a week prior. Heartless, right? Well, it may have been more so if they were actually engaged, but they weren't. Lottie reserved the TCU chapel two years in advance, assuming and hoping that was the direction they were headed. She spent her time losing herself in epic wedding Pinterest boards, rather than living her life and studying for the LSATs. Fast forward about five years later and Lottie has given up on becoming a lawyer, but is enjoying being an event planner with the biggest firm in the country. She enjoys the work that ties her up and leaves her with little to no time for a social life, and when she meets a handsome photographer it seems like a great fit, but he is anti marriage and only wants to be friends. A LOT of mixed signals later and they discuss being more than just friends, but every chance he has to doubt Lottie, Griffin does just that. Can they make it work?
It was overly detailed in areas where I didn't need so much detail and lacking in places where I would've liked a bit more. I never understood the appeal of Griffin aside from the physical. He was constantly spewing anti-marriage jargon and at every single turn, doubted and questioned Lottie - especially when he had no right to do so. I understand having trust issues, but when you're not even dating? I didn't get why Lottie would keep explaining herself to this friend who kept giving up on her. Then it just seemed like things were better relatively quickly and threw me for a loop.
This one comes out in December!
Well paced, interesting characters and a fun storyline. The description originally grabbed me, the writing held my attention.
This is a very enjoyable book!
This book was described as “ Sweet Home Alabama meets Crazy Rich Asians meets Devil wears Prada “— it was catchy enough for me to want to read it!
Set in Texas and I totally get that “everything in Texas is big”! My! Big spenders helloooo!!
Through Lottie’s eyes , as part of sought after event planning team, I experienced how these big spenders ... really do SPEND big time from birthdays to weddings. I love how Lottie did the “damage control” — I was like, “Good call, Lottie!” Of course, with the help of photographer cutie, Griffin!
There are also a lot of fun and laugh out loud moments. I really had fun!
The writing is pretty good though I get lost who’s talking ( in a conversation ) sometimes but it can easily be ignored as this is a first person POV.
I love the message this book conveys , personally — When everything seems not to go in a way that you planned, you moved on. “You pivot. On all fronts.”
Overall, loved everything!
This book is like talking to a long winding relative. I enjoyed the book but around midway through it began to feel as though it was rambling. She was focused on marrying her college sweetheart and put her studies on hold to plan her imaginary wedding that he never proposed for. She falls into event and wedding planning where she ends up having to plan her ex who is now a well known athletes wedding. She has two guys one who has no Interest in relationship or marriage and one that does but after 60% of reading I got fed up DNS.
*I received an ARC for my honest opinion,*
Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced copy!
Lottie thought she had her life all figured out and planned in college, enough so that she even booked a wedding venue before even being proposed to. Unfortunately, as we all know, things don't always go the way we plan. Instead Lottie is now planning other peoples weddings. She gets a job at an exclusive event planning company where she keeps herself busy while trying to figure out what she wants to do in life. During thsi time, she meets many people who become friends and ends up planning some very unique weddings...
A very fun book for the summer. It's an easy read and very entertaining. I loved all the wedding shenanigans! Lottie is definitely a character I loved. I totally recommend the book!
This was a fun, lighthearted read that kept a great pace. It was a great look into the wedding planning industry.
If you loved The Devil Wears Prada, you’ll live Without A Hitch!
Loved this book! It was so much fun. It is great to read a book that the author has actually "lived" in many ways.
The protagonist, Lottie, becomes a wedding planner at her high-end events planning corporation.
She is jaded, her own wedding having been cancelled, and the last thing she wants is to plan happily ever afters for others. But as time goes on, and she works at her boss'ss new office, she finds she excels at the job and even starts to enjoy it. And she eventually finds love isn't so bad after all.
If you've seen the series "Southern Charm" you'll be all over this well written story.
I was provided with a copy of this book in return for an unpaid, honest review.
This was definitely a romp through wedding planning that makes me glad that I took the shortcut and skipped the hassle when I tied the knot.
There is evidently so many things that go into planning a wedding. Sheesh. I really had no idea. I looked at basic things, many moons ago, got overwhelmed and then voted against it. I cannot imagine some of the lavish choices in this one.
But.
I really did enjoy the characters, and the storyline, I just got a little bogged down in so,e of the wedding things.
Other people will probably enjoy that part honestly.
A good read, easy to enjoy over summer break.
Overall a fun and easy summer read. The cut-throat world of organizing rich people's weddings got tiresome for me after awhile, but I did like the characters and the story enough to continue reading. Would recommend, as it is an easy pick up story for the beach.
Fans of The Devil Wears Prada and Crazy Rich Asians will love this. It's very well-written. The wedding shenanigans were fun.
However, I think this book is not for me. It comes down to personal taste. When it comes to these kinds of books (CRA, TDWP, ..), I definitely prefer the movie.
If you love TDWP and CRA, you'll love this one!

Thank you Netgalley and Harper Muse for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book it was heartfelt and fun. Lottie was a very relatable character. She wasn’t sure what she wanted in her life after collage and had to try a few different jobs before finding her niche. Her relationships also felt very natural. Being unsure as a young adult about what you want in relationships was refreshing. I appreciated Lottie and Griffin’s friendship. They were upfront and knew they didn’t want to be married and didn’t lead each other on. There was actual growth and communication between characters. The extravagant weddings and the shenanigans that ensued were such fun parts. Each wedding seemed bigger and better. I also enjoyed the subtle mystery surrounding some of the mishaps. It made the book more exciting and the ending wrapped up nicely. Overall it was a fun quick lighthearted read.
