Loved this book! An excellent tale of survival that will keep you guessing all the way to the end! I was hooked from the beginning and it never let me go, Loved the multiple POVs.
With a dramatic start, SAFEKEEPING sets the reader up for a binge read. What seems to be a straight forward plunge into a revenge thriller quickly becomes a quest to figure out why the main character remains quiet after all of the abuse she absorbs. Almost without your knowledge, Eva MacKenzie suddenly opens a door that you hadn't seen and the story changes pace and direction. It's definitely a thriller lover's kind of story.

I got to be honest, the only thing that it doesn’t have a stars as much as I like to is the genre. It doesn’t have thriller into it but yet it’s a good story if you love stories about the democrat or government. To be honest I’m lost at some point .
This book is not for me I’m afraid ☺️

Wonderful thriller that will keep you entertained the whole way throughout the story. Loved the main character in this one. Great writing.
This book is told by multiple points of view and with a timeline of both past and present. I loved the plot and characters. I really connected with the characters and that is important for me. Its the second book in the series and can be easily read as a standalone.
Wow, what a ride! The twists and turns continued throughout the entire book; the unpredictability was perfectly strewn around, right up until the end. Who killed Emma? Will Sonia live to avenge her stepsister? Will Jenna and Mason be found? This is a fantastic thriller, with just the right amount of mystery.
Thanks to Eva MacKenzie and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an Arc of Safekeeping. This book starts with a bang...or more accurately a car crash, and when emergency personal arrive on the scene, our heroine Sonia admits she's on the run and wanted for murder. Consider me hooked. From there Ms. Mackenzie continue to weave an intricate and intriguing story of a woman with a secret she is desperate to keep. This was the first book I've read by Ms. MacKenzie, but I already consider myself a fan.

Eva Mackenzie is another author i discovered on NetGalley. Her novels are always thrilling. "Safekeeping" is such a suspenseful novel. It will keep you guessing until the end. If you like stories that keep you reading all night long this is one for you.
When a woman is involved in a major car accident, the first she says is ... I'm Sophia Rossi and I'm wanted for murder. She is later convicted of killing her stepsister, Emma, the only child of Sophia' stepfather, a powerful, wealthy man.
Even in prison, he is not content because she's still breathing while his daughter is not. Almost on a weekly basis, other inmates target her with beatings, severe beatings. She's been in the clinicl ward more times than she can count. And each time, they get closer to killing her.
Until one day, news of an unidentified man's death confirms her worst fear, and Sonia must get out of prison, at all cost. What did the dead man say, and who heard him say it?
From there the mystery and suspense escalates and maintains a high level of intensity throughout. The story is told from multiple points of view .. both in the past and present. This is well-written with an intriguing plot and a story line filled with characters who are all solidly drawn. There are twists and turns that keep the reader riveted to this thriller. Although this is 2nd in a series, it is easily read as a stand alone. However, I do recommend reading in order.
Many thanks to the author / Craven Ink Press / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. A twisty tension filled read. I was hooked from the start. My first time reading Eva Mackenzie and it won't be my last. Sonia is in prison for murdering her step sister Emma. Sonia is getting bashed frequently and us convinced her step father is behind the beatings and wants her dead to avenge his daughters murder.. A fast paced addictive read. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ #evamackenzie #safekeeping #goodreads #netgalley #litsy #thestorygraph #tea_sipping_bookworm #thriller #bookqueen #bookstagram #amazonkindle #kindle
Sonia is sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her friend Emma. The people paid for ensuring her safety in prison turning a blind eye to the fact that her life is in constant danger. I really hope that most of this story is fictional. It’s scary to think that it could be even remotely true. It’s a bumpy ride through the story. Fast paced, action filled and impossible to guess.
I'm so sorry, but this gets the dreaded 'okay' rating.
The truth is, just a few days after reading it, I'd realized I'd already kind of forgotten it. Reading the plot summary did bring it back a bit.
A few points:
* Good Start, but after a while it gets a little tedious.
* Scenes inside the prison were my favorite.
* The Stepfather was kind of...almost comical in his villain attitude.
* The truth behind everything was uninteresting.
So there you have it. Now that I've written this, I may forget the book again. Not bad. Not great. Not memorable.

Holy Guacamole!!! This book!!! It hooked me in from the first chapter and I couldn't put it down!! Such a good mystery, kept me turning the page to find out what on earth was going to happen next! I need to go back and read the first book in this series now!
My first novel by Eva MacKenzie and I enjoyed it loads.
Told from different characters points of view, this novel is a real twisty ride that will easily capture your attention and keep you hooked until the very last word.
We mainly follow Sonia who is charged with killing her stepsibling Emma. Sonia is a very mixed up character and all becomes clear later in the novel. There is elements to this book that seemed slow in places but it sure picks up the pace really quick.
I really enjoy Eva MacKenzie's descriptive writing and her characters are brilliantly put together. This is actually a second book in a series of novels but I did not read the first novel and I feel that you can read this as a stand alone novel. If you love mysteries with and element of thrills then do read this book, it will not disappoint.
Thanks to NetGalley, Eva MacKenzie and the publisher for allowing me a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
I didn't realize this was a second in a series when I requested it, but no matter, I didn't feel I really needed the first (though I do plan to read it now). This was a fun read, thrilling and edge of your seat with some great shoks and twists! Thank you!
I had to DNF this one at 30%, I found it hard to read due to its density and over-written descriptions. While the first chapter was a captivating action thrill scene which immediately got my attention, the following chapters seem to focus on an agonizingly dry process of survival and injustice in prison. This side of thrillers isn't really interesting to me, so perhaps it might suit somebody else. In my opinion, the multiple POVs that kept being introduced without much of a stark introduction against other characters made the characters all blend together in my head. Jenni, Jamie, Joey, Ali, Sonia...I couldn't really imagine them, they were just thrust into the scene with thoughts and feelings. Perhaps some more character development with visual context (appearance/role) could have made them stand out, and made it easier to follow along.
Thanks to Netgalley, Craven Ink and Eva MacKenzie for this advanced readers copy, in exchange for an honest review.
This was a satisfying mystery/crime read with enough to keep me guessing. I did figure out some secrets early on but it wasn't totally predictable. Without giving any spoilers, I felt there were a few pieces of the puzzle that we did not get closure to by the end of the novel.
I received this arc from netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
Safekeeping by Eva MacKenzie is a thriller that has you guessing until the end. Sonia is in a terrible car accident and admits to officers that she is wanted for murder. She goes to prison for the next 5 years where she is continually brutally attacked by other inmates. What is Sonia really guilty of? She does have many secrets though and how many are coming out to haunt her?
Amazingly written! The book gets you hooked from the beginning and keeps you turning pages. The plot, the characters, the twists... all of it play a very cohesive role in keeping the reader interested. Excellent read!
The story exploded from the first page and the action didn’t let up. Fast paced and left you on the edge of your seat through every turn of the page. A quick afternoon gone, fully immersed in the quest for justice. Can’t wait to read for from Eva MacKenzie.
Thank you NetGalley for this arc
