What a sweet Christmas book! There’s an adorable dog, sweet children, and Christmas wishes.
While recovering from a bad breakup, Lindy returns to her small Washington hometown for a Christmas vacation. She reconnects with old friends and finds she misses her hometown. Billy was an old elementary schoolmate and is struggling with past mistakes. They connect Lindy has to decide to stick with what’s safe or take a risk on love again.
This book is a closed-door romance with lots of sweet moments between Lindy and Billy as well as Lindy and her friends and family. I could totally see this being made into a Hallmark Christmas movie and I’d be all over that! It’s a quick read that’ll warm up the heart and bring the Christmas magic!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy!
Her parents sound wonderful.
Jerk is too tame a word. I have a feeling he pursued Celeste.
Small world.
Man bun, blech.
Poor Peggy.
Oof, no good deed goes unpunished, I guess.
This is making me hungry.
Aw, Peter is so cute.
Yay!
Many years ago I read several of Debbie Macomber’s books and truly enjoyed them, so I was excited to read her latest Christmas novel. Dear Santa was a sweet story, that will put you in the Christmas spirit, about love, loss, and renewing old relationships. Unfortunately, I did find it very predictable and cliche. For example, in one chapter as the two main characters exit their vehicle, it just happens to begin to snow.
Thank you, NetGalley, for the digital ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed above are my own.

This was a magical walk down memory lane, the one in my childhood where I wrote letters to Santa and got my wishes answered. Lindy is a graphic designer, living alone in Seattle and focused on her career. Then she takes the holidays off and returns home to the little town of Wenatchee. There, she decides to write a letter to Santa. She needs a friend, wants a love interest and it would be great if her proposal at work gets accepted. Through a series of coincidences, Lindy finds herself fact to face with a Santa who promises to answer her wish list. The plot was so well written that it was like being in the middle of the story. And, of course, the characters were well-developed, with all of the qualities that one would expect in people raised in a sweet small town. I loved the extra details, like the Christmas Eve service and a party with cookies for everyone. The sled rides with her nephew Peter were as exhilarating for me as they seemed to be for the young boy. I lived each scene as the author wrote it because she has a magnificent flair for telling a story and enlisting the readers to participate in its magic. The book was a fast read and worth every minute that I spent reading it. Family, wholesome love, choosing priorities wisely and counting on a future with your loved ones were all themes that make this book memorable and a real Christmas reading delight.

I always enjoy Debbie Macomber’s books. I thought the decision that needed to be made in Dear Santa was handled well and was not sappy. I look forward to more of Macomber’s books.
What a way to lead into the holiday spirit and as always Debbie Macomber does it right! Letters have the perfect reminiscent quality to bring family and friends together with ties that bind and heal. A real feel good snuggle, Thank you netgalley for this thoughtful time!

Contemporary Holiday Romance
Web-design expert Lindy Carmichael is trying hard to prove herself with a project assigned at her company Media Blast. This job was tailor-made for her, though she is uncomfortable around her colleagues because a younger coworker believes she should have gotten the position.
Lindy heads from her apartment in Seattle to her childhood home in Wenatchee, Washington, for a two-week vacation. She cannot wait to be welcomed with open arms by her family. Wearing her heart on her sleeve, she doesn't want to ruin the Christmas holidays by sharing her sorrows of the past months. She caught the guy she was dating and hoped to build a future with cheating on her and with Celeste, her best friend, no less. Lindy doesn't know what hurts more—his betrayal or Celeste's. They've been close since college, but now the relationship is irreparably damaged. Lindy realizes when her mom sees her, she'll realize she's upset, and she wants to settle in before disclosing her heartache.
Ellen, Lindy's mother, welcomes Lindy with coffee and still warm cookies:
"Sitting across from her, Lindy smiled at her mother. This was what she'd held in her mind for the last several months while she weathered the storms life had tossed at her. Home and Christmas. This was the perfect combination to help her out of this deep emotional slump.
"Her position at Media Blast was on the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Not wanting her mother to fret, Lindy had kept the majority of her various troubles since summer to herself. Nor was she looking to share them the minute she arrived home. Maybe in a few days, after she'd soaked in the serenity of being home, she would feel inclined to explain."
A short time later, at lunch, Ellen confronts her, stating she senses something is wrong, so Lindy confirms it by giving her the details of her life since the summer.
Sobbing, she says she's a loser, having lost her boyfriend and best friend, while also talking about her concerns with her job. Sad for her daughter, Ellen leaves only to return with a shoebox containing letters Lindy wrote to Santa when she was a child.
Lindy wonders what these can do to assuage her broken heart, but Ellen insists she read them. The first letter she had written at age five said:
Dear Santa,
Please bring me a daddy.
Lindy
Ellen raised Lindy as a single mom and was always busy working to support them. Lindy wanted to have a "regular family" like her friends, so she wrote this. Surprising both Lindy and Ellen, the doorbell rang that Christmas Eve. It was the UPS delivery guy, and Ellen was surprised to see he was an old high school friend. Because he was single, he offered to make deliveries so his colleagues could be with their families. Ellen invited him to dinner, and before long, they became a couple, got married, and he adopted Lindy—an answer to her letter.
Lindy continued to pen letters to Santa—the following year asking for a sister, but when Chad arrives, she is overjoyed.
This is what she wrote at age seven:
Dear Santa,
I'm glad I got a brother instead of a sister. Chad is cute when he isn't crying. I like my Rollerblades, too. I go out every day when it doesn't rain. I want a Magic Marker pen set and a fashion Barbie this year. Oh, and you should give Billy Kincade coal. He's mean. He pulls my hair at school and chases me at recess.
Lindy
That Christmas, Lindy received the gifts she asked for and found out Billy Kincade had moved away.
Her mother's point? She suggests Lindy write to Santa. Laughing, Lindy says she's too old to believe in Santa, to which Ellen replies, "The word you need to seriously consider is believe."
Lindy thinks this suggestion is silly, but what does she have to lose? No one will see it, and she will not give it to one of the Santa's around town. But maybe it will help to pour out her heart and purge all the negative feelings she's withholding.
Being home with her parents is the balm Lindy needs. When she runs into Peggy, an old friend from grammar school, learning she lives in town, she is excited to reconnect. They pick up as if they've never been apart, and they meet at the Wine Press, a relatively new restaurant. Imagine Lindy's surprise when she learns out the owner is none other than Billy Kincade, though now he goes by Will.
Tongue-tied upon seeing him, Lindy notices he has grown up to be handsome and charming. They talk a while, and she discloses how she didn't like him as a child, feeling guilty writing about him, only to learn he moved away soon after Christmas. He confided he had a crush on her, and they were kids. What else could he do to get her attention?
Lindy spends her vacation with Peggy and friends, and Billy—which she still calls him—invites her to the restaurant for dinner. While there, he mentions his problems getting a website designed to target a more extensive clientele. As that's right up her alley, Lindy offers to help him and devises a top-notch site. She refuses payment for her work, so Billy insists on taking her out.
This Christmas novel is all about faith, love of family, and new beginnings. In true Debbie Macomber style, "Christmas Santa" is a quick and fun tale offering surprises and blessings and an all-around feel-good read.
Dear Santa is the latest Christmas story by Debbie Macomber. Lindy goes home for Christmas with her family. She loves her job at Media Blast but feels she still has to prove herself to her team. She has pitched a large account and if they get it she thinks things will change. While she is home her mother pulls out the old letters she sent to Santa as a child. One year she tells Santa that Billy deserves coal for picking on her. As an adult she learns what really happened to him that year and feels a bit guilty. She decides to bake him cookies to apologize for her mean thoughts but will it also lead to a Christmas romance?
I really enjoyed this sweet story and recommend it to everyone. It would make a nice Christmas gift for the romantic or Debbie Macomber fan in your life.

I'm a sucker for love stories set at Christmas but Debbie Macomber has created such a fun and lighthearted holiday story.
Lindy returns home for a vacation around Christmas with a broken heart, a friendship gone and a proposal for work up in the air. Her mom tries to remind her of the joy she had in Christmas's past by bringing out her letters to Santa. Stirring memories, her mom encourages her to write one now. Lindy obliges but little does she know how one letter may potentially change her life.
Debbie does an amazing job with building characters and telling a story that is not only relatable but heartwarming. When you read about Lindy's hometown and her family, as a reader, you wish you could go visit for the day!

Debbie Macomber has done it again. This is a great book. It is one that you can’t put down. The two main characters are Lindy and Billy. They have known each other all their lives. When Lindy was little she would write Santa letters. Everything she asked for she got. She comes home for a two week vacation at Christmas. She writes Santa a letter asking for three things. As the story unfolds she receives all three things. Then she has to make the decision if she wants to return to her old life or quit and start a new life.
I live Debbie's books. They are so heartwarming and thoughtful. She makes you think about what's important in life with every book she writes.
