Lindy is not anxious to return home for the holidays after an embarrassing breakup during the previous year's festivities. But she has grit and returns to celebrate with her family in the the small town where she grew up. Sensing Lindy's unhappiness, her mother gives her a box of letters to Santa that Lindy had written over the years. Reading them, with the benefit of hindsight, Lindy decides Santa did all right by her. When her mother suggests she write another letter to Santa she does and the story begins.
This is a sweet, warm Christmas story, with a bit of romance and good descriptions of food.
Who knew that a letter to Santa Claus could change your life? Debbie Macomber does and she shows us just how that can happen in Dear Santa, a story about family, friendship, love and…Christmas.
Lindy Carmichael comes home for Christmas after a double loss. Her boyfriend and her best friend have moved in together and she hopes that her two weeks vacation will cheer her up. After reading her girlhood letters to Santa (thoughtfully saved by her mother), Lindy composes this year’s letter. And it comes true. Not in the way she planned but, after all, Santa is full of surprises, isn’t he?
Dear Santa is a snow globe, Hallmark movie of a book. It’s a delightful, quick read that will leave you with a smile. It’s exactly what you expect from Debbie Macomber! 5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group and Debbie Macomber for this ARC.
The Spirit of Christmas is the underlying theme in this heartwarming book. The reader will definitely be immersed into a wonderful story full of love, friendship and Christmas Spirit. Believe in the Spirit and it will grant your wishes.
Lindy heads home for the holidays after a trying and disappointing year. Her best friend and boyfriend betray her and she is struggling to prove herself in her position at work. As she arrives home her mother realizes her struggles and brings in something from Lindy's childhood that her mother found while cleaning the garage, it is her letters to Santa from her young years. Setting the theme for the story Lindy finds herself in one of the most wonderful Christmas vacation.
If the reader is looking for a break from today's negativity this is the book for you. I enjoyed the lightness of the story and the way the story flowed well. An easy read to put you in the Christmas spirit and gives the reader hope of easier and kinder times.
Thank you to Random House and Ballantine Books, Netgalley and the author for the ARC in exchange for a review. This has provided me a wonderful outlook for the upcoming seaons!

Debbie Macomber has done it again. A Christmas story with so much heart. The whole story is feel good family loving. If you need a good Christmas story that will warm your heart this, just like Debbie's other Christmas stories, will do it. I loved it!
I just reviewed Dear Santa by Debbie Macomber. #DearSanta #NetGalley
When I think of Christmas novels, the name that truly rings the loudest to me is Debbie Macomber! I also make sure to read one (or seven) in December! You could feel the magic and joy coming through the pages! It will be a much loved book to many this year!
Another fantastic Debbie Macomber Christmas book. Love this one!
Lindy and Billy, the main characters, are relatable and great to follow. The plot had everything you hope for in a Christmas book - friendship, family, love, second chances, and of course some Santa fun! Quick, delightful read from start to finish.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Dear Santa is a cute story in happy holiday, Debbie Macomber style. I enjoyed the Letters to Santa theme and the fun Macomber used to write a sweet holiday romance. This will be a great addition to her many Christmas novels. Perfect to grab and put your feet up during the busy holiday or read to get ready for the season. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I enjoyed this book. It held my interest from start to finish. A quick, easy read perfect for the holiday season.
I look forward to Debbie Macomber’s Christmas books every year. They never disappoint and Dear Santa was no exception. I loved it. The whole adult writing a letter to Santa is an unique concept, but it was fun. I loved Lindy and Billy. The whole story was fun. Typical Hallmark movie stuff and it just made me happy. Thank you to Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.
I really loved Dear Santa! It’s the type of book you read in front of a fire, with a blanket on your lap, and a glass of wine in hand.. The story is so uplifting, and filled with Christmas spirit….you may begin to believe in the Santa again. I thoroughly enjoyed the story of reclaimed friendship, new love and career goals- and the difficult choices the main character makes that allows her to find her happily ever after. A solid 4 star read.
The weather today was warm and sunny. Exactly how it should be the first week of August. So why not dive into a Christmas book. And to make it even more Christmasy it has to be a Debbie Macomber Christmas book! Dear Santa is a story of Christmas magic. And I really mean magic. Lindy has come home for a two week vacation and she definitely needs it! An all-consuming job leaves no time for friends or a social life. Returning home for the holidays contradicts the old saying you can't go home again. Lindy's childhood letters to Santa somehow seemed to have come true. But that's only a coincidence, right? It couldn't hurt to write Santa a letter as an adult. Will Santa come through with more Christmas magic? And, if he does, is Lindy prepared for the results?
Any time of year is perfect for a Debbie Macomber Christmas book and Dear Santa does not disappoint.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book from NetGalley.
"Dear Santa" is a holiday romance. Lindy asks Santa to bring her a new best friend, a perfect boyfriend, and success at work. Santa (who was an actual character) tells her that she'll get her wishes. Much of the story was watching a romance unfold alongside Christmas fun with family and friends. The only problem was that Lindy discovered that she couldn't have all three wishes at once and must choose what she wanted most.
The characters were sweet and kind. Except for The Choice at the end, there wasn't really any set-backs or points of conflict to create suspense. Just a fun read about a "perfect" Christmas. My main problem was that Santa had God-like abilities. I kept expecting God to be thanked for the blessings, but Santa got the credit and even appeared in person to help Lindy make the right choices. I know the title says it's a Santa story, but the book description said the letter was to herself and an "exercise in gratitude." It's not. It's a wish list written to Santa. Anyway, there was no sex or bad language.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers, and the author for giving me the opportunity to review this book. This books was such a fun lighthearted read. I can always count on Debbie Macomber for a heartwarming story. There’s something about her Christmas books that make me feel all the feels!
I look forward to Debbie Macomber's Christmas books every year so I was thrilled when I was approved for a copy of this book. Dear Santa was short but sweet and pretty much everything one is looking for in a romance novel. Lindy Carmichael is nursing a broken heart, home for the holidays in Wenatchee, Washington. Her mom asks her to read her old letters to Santa and upon realizing she got everything she asked Santa for all those years ago, encourages her to write a new letter to Santa. In it Lindy asks for a friend (she recently lost her best friend when she took up with Lindy's ex-boyfriend) and a new beau. Santa sends her Peggy (Lindy's old pal from grade school) and Billy (her old nemesis). This was a fun book. It was completely predictable, but that's what I love about Debbie's books: they always have a happy ending. The only thing that bothered me that is that Lindy decided to uproot her entire life (quitting her job and moving back to Wenatchee from Seattle) after only ONE WEEK of dating Billy. Ridiculous. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Perfect book to get you in the holiday spirit: As always Debbie Macomber writes a clean story that appeals to all ages: Characters are like able and even though you know what outcome will be it is a sweet story.
Lindy takes two weeks off and goes to her Mom's for Christmas. Her Mom shows her this little box of letters that Lindy had written to Santa when she was kid. Lindy has had a rough year and her Mom tells her to write a letter to Santa to make her feel better. She finally does and then the things she asks Santa for start to happen.
It's a really fun book that I just could not put down. Another awesome read by Debbie Macomber.
A holiday story should be sweet, charming, and filled with goodies. This book fits the bill, but I found it entirely too predictable for it to be much fun. There has to be a bit more intrigue than we saw here, but the premise is cute and it should appeal to anyone looking for a Christmas read.
I really enjoyed this book. It was fun to read. it also reminded me of all the letters I written to Santa as a child and was heart broken to find out he wasn't real. This book not only gives you a chance to remember Santa, but also it gives you hope to believe in Christmas again, especially now during these hard times. I am grateful that netgalley let me read this in exchange for an honest review.
I was so excited to be approved to read an advance copy of Dear Santa by Debbie Macomber through NetGalley and her publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinions. I've read several books by Debbie Macomber and I think this one might just be my favorite. It truly read like a Hallmark movie and put me in the holiday spirit (and it's only July!). THANK YOU so much for such a heart warming read! Keep on writing your wonderful books!
I always enjoy reading a holiday romance from Debbie Macomber. This was a perfect, sweet romance for the Christmas season.
