Debbie delivers another sweet holiday romance. Traditions are a big part of Christmas for me and reading one of Ms. Macomber’s is certainly a part of that. In the hectic hustle of the season, it’s comforting to hunker down and visit a time honored treasure. The story has all the elements one loves about her books. Lindy is at a crossroads and decides to head home for the holidays. At her mother’s encouragement she rereads her childhood letters to Santa and is inspired to write a new letter. Will Santa grant her wishes? She meets up with her childhood “tormentor” and sparks fly. Fate and the magic of Christmas fill Lindy’s soul. In the end she discovers home is where the heart is. Thank you for the ARC #DearSanta #NetGalley
A sweet yearly book from Debbie Macomber that I look forward to every year. This story is about Lindy Carmichael who just broke up with a man and is not in the Christmas spirit. Her mom reminds her that she used to write a letter to Santa so she decides to continue the tradition. Exciting situations happen and help make the season truly magical.
Dear Santa is a wonderful Christmas read - full of love, hope, and second chances. I enjoyed the story from start to finish. Lindy opened her heart to the magic of Christmas - with a little help from Santa. This would make a wonderful movie!
It isn’t Christmas without a new Debbie Macomber novel. Dear Santa, is a sweet story. Lindy Carmichael has returned to her hometown for Christmas. She doesn’t have the Christmas spirit after finding out that her boyfriend was cheating on her with her best friend. Her mother tries to lift her spirits by showing her old letters she had written to Santa as a youth. As a lark, Lindy writes an adult version to Santa asking for a new best friend and boyfriend. She soon rediscovers her old childhood best friend Peggy and her nemesis Billy. Will Lindy be able to put her life back together and rediscover the magic of Christmas?
I loved this shorty and cozy story. It was filled with the spirit of Christmas. I really loved this premise with the letters to Santa. It made me wonder what I wrote to Santa about as a kid. I loved Billy’s story as well. Isn’t it interesting as an adult to really learn about others that you grew up with and discover that there was a lot going on that you didn’t know about? This book is a clean read and does have a magical Santa in it as well. I liked the reconnection with family and friends, and the rethinking of life after it falls apart.
I read Dear Santa as the December pick for the Brenda Novak Book Group. Brenda Novak had a fun Christmas party with Debbie Macomber which can still be viewed on her Facebook page. Debbie Macomber talks about her inspiration for this novel. It was a lot of fun!
Overall, Dear Santa is an enjoyable Christmas novel.
Book Source: Review copy from Netgalley. Thank-you! I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Dear Santa is Debbie Macomber's newest Christmas story and it is oh so sweet. Lindy Carmichael is home for the holidays and has alot on her mind. Her job has made her feel completely void of creativity and her heart has been broken by her ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend. So when she arrives home, she's not the in mood for celebrating. Her mom is determined to improve her attitude and reminds her of a favorite childhood tradition: writing a letter to Santa. Feeling inspired Lindy writes a new letter to Santa asking for three things near and dear to her heart.
Shortly after Lindy writes the letter to Santa, she runs into two former classmates. The first is a woman named Peggy who had been really good friends with as a young girl. When these two see each other, it is as if nothing has changed. The friendship and connection is still there stronger than ever. The second person Lindy runs into a man named William, who Lindy knew as Billy when they were in elementary school. Billy picked on Lindy constantly and it drove her crazy. She even wrote to Santa asking him to give Billy a lump of coal. This is the first time she has seen him in years and she can't help but notice that he is all grown up.
I really liked the reconnection that Lindy had with Peggy. Together, they reminisced about all the shenanigans of their childhood friendship which was full of laughter. Peggy is quick to introduce Lindy to her other friends in town who are very welcoming. I loved the whole restaurant game and think that it would be fun to try in person with a group of friends. This group felt authentic to me.
Lindy's relationship with Billy was enjoyable. Although I did not fully like the fact that alot of their dynamic was centered around him being mean to her when they were little because he liked her. Just...no. We need to stop accepting explanations for poor behaviors. Their dynamic does evolve the more time they spend together. And the more time Lindy spends with him, she starts wondering what is exactly is keeping her away from her home town.
Dear Santa has all the elements that make for a sweet Christmas story. I loved the way Santa was used throughout the story as like a helpful guardian. He obviously has what is best in mind for Lindy, she just needs to accept it. If you're a fan of Debbie Macomber's holiday reasons, I would easily recommend this one to you.
This was a fun little book for the holidays. There are no surprises when it comes to Debbie M., but isn't that kind of why people like her books. A soothing sense of knowing what's coming, Recommend for those readers who are looking for a light holiday romance.
Lindy is a young woman who left it all behind when she left home for the big city and a bright future. Life isn't always what we dream it to be while we are making plans for the future. Sometimes it is even better. It all started with a letter to Santa to turn this discouraged young woman's life into a roller coaster ride of events that will change her life forever.
Skip the movie and read the book to get you into the Christmas spirit! Set with believable characters in the beautiful state of Washington, it doesn't get any better than a little holiday fun.
Another sweet and enjoyed able Christmas read from Macomber I loved this one more than the one from last year. As an adult who as a kid at a young age stopped believing in Santa on her own I never had childhood letters to Santa let alone a whole box. So to me that alone was enough of a twist on the normal Christmas rom coms.
This was another Debbie Macomber miss for me and I'm so sad. Every year I look forward to her hoilday book, but I no longer find them enjoyable. The humor is missing!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC for an honest review.
Dear Santa was a great read by Debbie Macomber. Lindy Carmichael returns home to Wenatchee, Washington and isn't feeing very joyful. The man she was with, cheated on her with her best friend. She reads through a box of childhood letters to Santa and finds herself reminiscing about what she's wished for as a young girl. She decides to write a new letter to Santa with encouragement from her mom. She never expected to see her wishes unfold before her eyes. She also makes a connection with a handsome former classmate. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.
This story was such a sweet read! I really enjoyed this one and felt like it got me even more into the Christmas spirit! The story really shows you the magic of the season and the true definition to believe! I thought this one was a hit out of the park and *chef's kiss*! This was my first Debbie Macomber book and I can not wait to check out some more of her work. The character development was excellent, story line was hooking, and it was written beautifully! Excellent overall book!
Thank you Debbie Macomber for creating another wonderful holiday story. Dear Santa will get you in the holiday spirits. Happy Reading!
I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and the publisher ~ Thank you ~ !! This is my honest and personal review.
5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I am reading all Christmas/Holiday books in December and this is my second book of the month! It was so good that I flew through it in 2 days. There is so much that I loved about it and I seriously have zero negative comments to make! I literally had a smile on my face from beginning to end! I connected with each character in the book and I absolutely adored how the love story played out in this joyous Christmas novel. My favorite line of this book was “What you don’t understand, Lindy, is that you wrote your name on my heart when I was nine years old”. Love, love, LOVE this book so much and HIGHLY RECOMMEND it for anyone who is a fan of Christmas romance novels. It is sure to put a smile on your face and make your heart happy!

Oh this book is a wonderful Christmas story that everyone should read. I love Debbie’s books and I have to say this one just might be my most favorite one of all! You have put the icing on the cake with this one Debbie, thank you for such a great book!
As one has come to expect from author Debbie Macomber, Dear Santa is a heartwarming story filled with hope. Light, entertaining, and yes… predictable, it was filled with Christmas cheer. The story was built on the idea of looking back at the main character’s letters to Santa. I think the idea worked quite well (but I would have liked the letters to be spaced out just a bit more.) This sweet romance brought back a lot of memories including a bit of Santa “magic” from my own childhood and traveling home for a family Christmas as an adult.
Recommended for fans of the author and anyone looking for a relaxing read to help them unwind during the hectic holiday season.
FYI - I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
My Review: I was a little behind in getting this book read, so I picked up the audio book for myself, I will always be re-reading it anyway. If you have been following me for any amount of time, Christmas is not Christmas without Macomber's annual holiday book. Last year was a bit of an eh book for everyone, but Dear Santa has Christmas in spades! I absolutely adore the idea behind this book, revisiting old Santa letters and writing new ones as an adult. Who wouldn't love to have some grown up Christmas wishes answered?! I love how this story comes around and not all is as it seems from Lindy's perspective, at least at first. It was a shorter story, so it is easy to fit into your holiday schedule and oh so sweet! It has a touch of nostalgia with old letters and memories, some old friends and even an enemy, reminds us all of our trips home.
My Rating: This was such a great book, it gave me the warm fuzzies and had me wanting a trip down memory lane. It wasn't quite to the level of Starry Night, my favorite of her holiday romances, but it comes pretty darn close. I give it a rating of Four Paws!
This book was just like drinking a warm cup of hot chocolate on a cold day! It was so sweet and comforting- the perfect holiday read!
Debbie Macomber always hits the mark with her books and her latest, Dear Santa, is no exception. It is a perfect Christmas read complete with romance and a touch of magic. The characters are easy to like and the book reads quickly. Fans of Macomber are going to love this one! Highly recommend.
Dear Santa is everything I want in a Christmas book! The characters were all wholesome and loveable, it read like a cheesy Hallmark movie and it was so full of Christmas cheer (and a little bit of drama and heartbreak, becuase what's a Christmas book without a little of that!)
This was such a feel good Christmas story. Pursue your dreams, but know that depending on your situation, your dreams may change!
