It's an entertaining cozy mystery, liked the characters both human and pets.
My issues are with the pace which is very slow and the solution that seemed a bit rushed and forced.
I want to read other books in this series.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

My first in this series although it is the second instalment, animal rescuer Liz Denton, along with her daughter, Amelia, makes a great amateur sleuth. The two get involved when Liz finds a home for Sheamus, her latest cat needing a new owner. Sheamus, a Maine Coon cat is being taken to Joe Hitchcock, but on arrival, Liz discovers him in his study, dead. She soon discovers the murder is connected to a 30-year-old cold case.

Dangerous secrets surface in this charming mix of mystery and furry friends set in Grey Falls, Ohio. Liz is married to Manny, who has his own vets practice. Liz is a great, caring, down-to-earth, driven protagonist and her loving family is one of her main focuses. Witty and endearing, I shall be continuing with this series and hope to read more about Liz's Furever Pets business.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Kensington Books via NetGalley and this review is my unbiased opinion.

Dial 'M' for Maine Coon by Alex Erickson (Furever Pets Mystery #2) 3 stars

This is a sequel, to "The Pomeranian Barks Twice", Liz Denton, operator of Furever Pets, (Animal Rescue) is shocked when she goes to deliver a Maine Coon cat and find the body of the adopter. The dead man had a mystery surrounding his past and Liz Denton is determined to help find the killer. With the help of her family, she delves into the dead man's past and discovers more mysterious facts.

The premise for this series sounded like fun, Liz Denton, an animal lover and rescuer, her husband Manny, a vet and other family members including dogs and cats. But the book got a little slow in parts and some of the supporting characters fell a little flat. I like Mr. Erickson;s other series about the coffee house owner and thought to give this one a go. I will say that I was surprised by who the murderer was and ending was exciting. If another book comes out, I might give it another try.

Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for this ARC.

This is a new author for me and I look forward to reading more by him. Liz is taking a rescue cat to his new owner. There she finds the man dead. This starts a quest to find out who killed him. Lots of twists and turns. Very enjoyable read.

A good continuation to a pleasant and charming series. The animals always add interest. This is quite a convoluted mystery. Murder, no body, dead body, why, who. Clever and kept me guessing but the clues are there, so you may be able to figure it out.

Somehow I missed the first book in the series. However, I don't feel that impacts the enjoyment for this book. I liked Liz and her family, I didn't like Courtney. The mystery was entertaining and kept me guessing with a lot of stuff going on..

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Liz didn't expect to find an adopter dead when she went to deliver him his new pet. Nope. Nor did she expect that he would have a complicated back story that he's kept hidden by changing his name. Luckily, Liz's daughter Amelia is studying to be a private investigator so the two of them set off in search of answers. It's a classic cozy specially made for animal fans- there's a cat with a cart, a chihuahua, and so on. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I missed the first one but this was a fine entry to what looks like it will be a nice series.

Dial M for Maine Coon is a fun mystery involving the owner of an animal rescue, Furever Pets. Liz Denton’s passion in life is to find furever homes for abandoned pets. Her latest is Sheamus, an 18-pound Maine Coon cat. She has a new owner lined up, only to find he has been murdered when she arrives to drop off Sheamus. And now, she can’t help looking into the murder herself even though she knows the police have the investigation under control. She soon discovers the murder is connected to a 30-year-old cold case. With the help of her daughter, a budding private investigator, Liz works to solve the mystery. There are some interesting twists and turns in the book, told in first person by Liz. Will she succeed to solve the crime? And what will happen to Sheamus? Will he get his furever home? I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from the series.

Dial M for Maine Coon is the second installment in the A Furever Pets Mystery series set in Grey Falls, Ohio and featuring Liz Denton, pet rescuer. Liz is looking forward to dropping Sheamus, the huge, fluffy Maine Coon cat off at his new home with Joe Hitchcock, feeling the man and cat will be the perfect match. However, Liz arrives at the house and discovers Joe's dead body.

It doesn't take long to discover that Joe is really Joe Danvers, a man accused of killing his wife Christine thirty years ago. What doesn't make sense is why the man had come back to the town and was hiding behind a new identity. With the help of her daughter Amelia, who is training to become a private eye, the women set out to solve the mystery.

Dangerous secrets that have been hidden for years come to light in a delightful blend of mystery and furry friends. A great afternoon read with well developed characters.

I received an advanced copy of Dial M for Maine Coon from NetGalley via Kensington Books. While not required to write a review I am happy to offer my honest opinion.

The owner of an animal rescue program, Liz, tries to drop off a Maine Coon cat to his new owner. Unfortunately, he has been murdered. There's a long history that unravels and Liz ends up in the middle, mostly due to her curiosity. I'm new to this series and found myself intrigued. It will keep you guessing!

Great nail biter, edge of your seat mystery. The storyline was fantastic. I could hardly put it down. I loved how Liz and her daughter and her friend Maya got together to solve the murder mystery and loved how her husband and her son worked together at the vet office.. Also enjoyed the way how Liz took care of all the animals that were rescued by finding them good homes. Highly recommend to all animal lovers and cozy mystery lovers.

Dial ‘M’ For Maine Coon is the second book in a cozy mystery series written by Alex Erickson and works well as a standalone novel.

Alex Erickson is an accomplished writer and is able to draw readers into the world of Grey Falls, Ohio from the start. The main character and first-person narrator is Liz Denton, the owner and operator of a local pet rescue named Furever Pets. While delivering her latest rescue, Sheamus, a Maine Coon cat, she walks right into the murder of Joe Hitchcock who is in reality Joe Danvers whose wife went missing thirty years ago.

Besides the main plot line of Joe’s murder there are minor plot lines, such as her son Ben’s new girlfriend, and a conflict with the character’s ongoing rival in the rescue community. Both of these drop off and are resolved too quickly to seem realistic.

About halfway through the story, I started to wonder about Furever Pets. There seems to be no building that lodges the animals, nor any list of foster families for pets waiting to be adopted. She never takes time for fund raising, but I suppose she wouldn’t if the only animal she is rescuing is Sheamus. All of Liz’s time is spent investigating the murder despite the fact she has no legal authority to do so. Three animals are mentioned, Liz’s own cat Wheels, Sheamus, and Pirana aka Chico who shows up briefly. related to one of the sub-plots.

There appear to be multiple clues to follow for the diehard mystery buff but certain lines of inquiry are lacking only to be revealed too easily and quickly during the concluding scenes. Liz succeeds, not by cunning, but by dumb luck. I found some of the characters and their motivations unbelievable.

Alex Erickson does write a good story, however near the end of this one as the realism dwindled, I started mumbling, “Oh, come on now, you have to be kidding me!” Dial “M” for Maine Coon is a fun cozy, but not a great one. I give it 3 stars.

This is my first time to read a book by this author. I thought it was a good mystery that kept me guessing. There definitely was edge of seat reading as the main character and her daughter put themselves in a very dangerous situation in order to gather much needed evidence against a murder suspect. The book was witty, entertaining and at times gripping. I will be sure to read more books by this author.
Liz Denton is the owner of Furever Pets. Her business is rescuing lost and abandoned pets and finding them forever homes. Liz is married to Manny Denton, who has his own Veterinarian practice in Grey Falls Ohio. They have two grown children, Ben and Amelia. When Liz takes Sheamus, a beautiful Maine Coon she has rescued, to his new forever home she finds the new owner dead in his home. He has been shot and it is ruled as murder.
Liz being of a curious nature can't let it go and leave it with Detective Emmitt Cavanaugh of the Grey Falls Police Department. The burning questions on her mind is who and why. Since she discovered Joe Hitchcock's body someone has been following her and she has been receiving anonymous phone calls where no one speaks but hangs up. Does someone mean to harm her or her family?
I recommend this book to readers of Cozy Mystery and fans of Alex Erickson.

Liz Denton's life is pretty much dominated by animals. Husband Manny is a vet, son Ben works with his dad and Liz runs an animal rescue service for those unwanted pets who maybe aren't quite as easy to love as others. Only daughter Amelia has a different type of job and her working for a private investigator is about to come in handy!

Taking a Maine Coon cat to his new owner wasn't supposed to be the hard part! A big, fluffy, loving moggy, he has a problem with allergies amongst other things and it had taken a while to find him his forever home. Unfortunately when Liz arrives she finds new owner Joe Hitchcock dead, and Sheamus in need of her care for a while longer.

This is the second in Alex Erickson's Furever Pets series and although I hadn't read the first felt at no disadvantage. Liz is a great main protagonist and her loving family is obviously her main focus. The animals are a close second however, and then her curiosity and need to finish everything she starts complete her reason for being.

I enjoyed this very much but there were a few parts which, to me at least, seemed quite obvious and I wasn't suprised by the outcomes which was a shame. It was however an easy read that I found relaxing and distracting which is always good.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. This is a good animal based mystery which is recommended to fans of the cosy crime genre.

I mostly enjoyed this book. I thought it was slow, The main characters are likeable enough although I didn't feel like I got to know Liz enough. The killers aren't a surprise although the ending is exciting enough. #DialMforMaineCoon #NetGalley

Liz Denton always seems to find trouble when she investigates a murder. In this book by Alex Erickson, Dial "M" for Main Coon which is the second book in the Furever Pets Mystery series, Liz finds a dead body. The body belongs to the man Liz was delivering a Maine Coon cat to when she discovered his body. I liked how Liz went about investigating and how this time she had some assistance from a local PI, his coworker and his intern who happens to be Liz's daughter. This was a fun read! I can't wait to see what Liz gets into next.
