Funny, light read
Entertaining take on moving through life’s challenges. Unfamiliar with the author, this was an enjoyable change of pace from my normal genres. While I wasn’t rolling on the floor, some essays gave me a good giggle, and some instigated second hand embarrassment. Great book to take along if you spend time waiting in doctors offices, kids pickup lines or practices, etc.
Thanks to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson Publishing and Anna Lind Thomas for the arc.
This book was a quick read and had a funny, conversational tone to it. Some stories were more interesting than others - the cover is what grabbed my attention. Thanks to NetGalley for the free copy in exchange for my honest review!
The cover of this book attracted my eye, and I thought I would read this book of essays on life. I thought the author was older based on her picture, but I enjoyed most of her stories even though it was not what I was expecting. This is a tongue in cheek collection of things that happen in life and looking at the humorous side of them. I thought some of the female issues were a little too frank, but overall, this book made me laugh, snicker, and wince at times. The essays run the gamut of life from her experience with Whole Foods, her period, dance cardio, incidents and moments with her children and husband, and the stomach incident that launched her career and changed her destiny.
I will admit, I had never heard of Anna Lind Thomas, but I will look for more of her essays and books. She writes about things that many of us deal with or have dealt with on a regular basis. As this book was written shortly after the pandemic and the lockdowns, there is some mention of those times in the book. In the book Anna is tells of a conversation with her mother:
"This morning over coffee, I chatted with my mom and said, a little sarcastically, 'I wonder what my girls will remember about a pandemic.'
"'You', she said, pausing to take a sip, 'They'll mostly remember you.'"
Although she was referring to the time during the pandemic, I think it fits everything we do in life. Anna Lind Thomas' children will remember a mother who is able to laugh, have fun and not get down on things that could derail you and life. I laughed, spit out my coffee at times and even snorted while reading this book. I think we all need to learn to laugh at ourselves and we would be happier and healthier for it. I recommend this fun book. I listened to this book and the author reads it, which added even more authenticity to the essays. It was like sitting and having coffee with her while she regaled me with her life's experiences.
This book had me laughing throughout. The stories through Anna's life were a treasure to read through her telling. I would recommend to anyone that needs a little boost in life.
I was unfamiliar with this author but wanted to read it because it looked funny. It's a story about her life, focused on her family, and I did laugh out loud a few times. She has a way of relating what goes on at home in a sweet but realistic way. I especially loved how she talks about her girls.

This was a collection of essays or observations on the author’s everyday life. They were written in a friendly, chatty tone and most were quite humorous. The lifestyle of the author was very different from mine, so there were certain themes that didn’t resonate with me much. But all in all, a fun and entertaining read.

Anna Lind Thomas is hilarious. Throughout the book I found myself sharing her crazy stories with friends and family. I told my family her Lady Gaga story and a co-worker and I cracked up about her young girls watching her work out and one asking "aren't you supposed to do what the lady on the TV is doing". You know, this happens when the girls are supposed to be with Dad so Anna can have some time to herself. I'm not even a mom but found this book to be hilarious and didn't want to put it down. It's a fun, refreshing book.
This is a compilation of essays about everyday life moments from Anna Lindt Thomas, reminding us not to take life too seriously.
I enjoyed her humor and writing. While some stories kept my attention and got a laugh out of me (the infamous fart essay), some fell short (motherly stories - I cant relate).
I would give 3.5 stars if I could and would read her second book.
Thank you, Netgalley, publisher, and author.

Is this a fun read? Yes, I would say so. Very humorous. I did not really know, what kind of book I was about to read when I started. I had no expectations. Therefore, I was caught by a surprise. This is a very fun read.
I would say, however, that it takes a little while to get fully caught in the book. Nonetheless, midway through, the book is so much fun that you do not want to lay it down.
The writing style is very personal, which I really liked. Anna Lind Thomas truly writes in a catching language.
Hilarious. It's been a long time (think early Jen Lancaster; and Jenny Lawson) since I've been laughing in bed, trying to contain it and not wake my husband (or 100 lb dog who shares the bed.) I'd never heard of Anna Lind Thomas, so this was a great surprise. These essays will make you laugh out loud. The last bit of the book was a little slower than the beginning, but I was still quite invested. I also admire that she is Christian, but didn't hit the reader over the head with that. She mentions God, and her faith a couple of times, but it's in passing. Kudos to the author for that. I'll give this book 5 starts, which isn't common for me. Thanks to NetGalley and Nelson Books for the eARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
I was really excited to read this book but sadly it wasn't for me. I didnt like the format and I couldn't relate to the author at all.
Thank you for the arc.

So far I have loved both of the Anna Lind Thomas books I have read! They have kept me laughing and wanting more. She has a great casual writing style. Love the stories about her pregancy and eating ribs in bed in the hospital. Also love the whole foods essay and wish I could pop in on Saturday to get a read!
First off: the infamous fart story was truly hilarious! The rest of the book was pretty good as well. I had never heard of the author prior to this book so I didn't know what to expect.
Ms. Thomas has written a collection of vignettes about her daily life that range from amusing to laugh out loud funny. This was a fun, light-hearted book that was quite enjoyable. I didn't give it 5 stars because it did get a little slow in certain places, but then would get back on track within the next page or chapter. Overall, a good read.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC.
I enjoyed this book because of it's writing style, unique topic, and the fact that it really provided a thought-provoking experience. Recommended for readers who want to read slowly so as to take time to process.
Not a very great book. Boring, rambly and uninspiring. Felt like the author slapped some random things together.
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle by Thomas Books and #NetGalley for my honest opinion. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
Funny, enjoyable and entertaining.
Some good doses of humor, including some laugh out loud scenes. Enjoyable, but some essays felt too long or the jokes felt too repetitive.
The second half of the book is largely about childbirth and motherhood. I expected some stories to be about family life, but this was the bulk of the book. I don't think the book's description accurately portrayed how much of the book would target motherhood. As a childfree individual, I just don't think I was the intended audience. Others may love it and feel seen.

This is a pick-me-up book you are sure to enjoy.
Anna Lind Thomas recounts her joys, sorrows, and mishaps along life's roads. Make sure you use the bathroom before you pick up the book each time.
This is a laugh until you pee type of story. Anna is raw, transparent, vulnerable, and relatable. I felt like I was listening to a friend tell me about those embarrassing moments that, in retrospect, can be laughed at later on down the road.
I was riveted to my seat and cried as I read about her sorrows and hardships. I laughed until tears came as I read about those you had to be there moments. Moments with a friend where you might say, remember the time we?
I recommend this book as it is sure to delight you. Joy will bubble up within you. Anna's stories are fresh, witty, and identifiable. Anna hilariously poses the argument of taking life a bit less seriously. The lighter side of life.
