I first read "The Hiding Place" when I was in high school. It is such an inspirational story and has stuck with me my whole life. I really enjoyed this collection of experiences, scriptures, and prayers. I read one or two each day, and they were perfect to read when I had a few free minutes in my day.

I highly recommend this to anyone who has read any books by Corrie ten Boom, or who enjoys inspirational stories.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bethany House, and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinions.

I have loved Corrie ten Boom for a very long time. To read her writing is to come to love her. The incredible life she had, (including being a prisoner during the Nazi holocaust) the faith she lived on, is nothing short of remarkable.
For forty days I have read her 40 devotions and closing prayers. This is a wonderful devotional that reminds me of my life verse, "I can do all things through Christ which (who) strengtheneth me". Philippians 4:13
One day she highlights the fact that we often pray and give our burdens to God who promises the Holy Spirit will take them. Later, we are apt to take the burdens back, even continually pray about them. As one of these people who has done this I am prompted to question, am I talking (asking) so much that I am not listening for His answer? This book, these devotions, make me think. 1 Peter 5:7
These forty devotionals share an experience she has gone through including Scripture and each closes with a prayer. On day 31, for example, a portion of the prayer says, " Help me to see each person through Your eyes." This is an amazing show of a faith lived during the best and absolute worst of times.
I highly recommend this book. Special thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for my copy of the book. I have already been telling others about it.
Two more powerful quotes.
"I won't base my worth on anything other than the price You (Jesus Christ) paid to make me yours."
"There is only one force more powerful than fear, and that is faith."

A moving devotional that touches on the very heart of Christianity: faith in a ever-faithful God, peace in the most adverse circumstances, and steadfast hope in the face of trials.

To say I was encouraged by this devotional is an understatement. In every sense, I really enjoyed reading it. Growing up, I knew about Corrie Ten Boom and her 'Hiding Place', but nothing has brought me closer to her heart as this devotional. Every day I read it, I learnt something new and was more built up and encouraged in my faith. From the lessons learnt from the life of ever-faithful Betsie, to the times when Corrie herself was tempted to doubt but encouraged and strengthened in her faith, the tales and lessons from this devotional will not leave you the same.

I received an advanced reader’s copy from the publishers of God is My Hiding Place in exchange for an honest review. All things stated in this review are my own opinions.

A wonderful devotional full of encouragement and conviction! Definitely a must-read to add to your daily routine or to read aloud with your children.

Corrie Ten Boom’s life and writings continue to influence long after her death. Trained as a clockmaker, her family secretly sheltered Jews in Nazi occupied Europe. Sent to a concentration camp, her stories of faith and forgiveness are inspiring. These devotions are short and I enjoyed reading them at bedtime. I found the stories encouraging and each one ends with a short prayer.

This was an excellent little book. Corrie Ten Boom’s faithfulness to God is always encouraging and edifying to read. This book is structured into 40 brief, but richly worded chapters covering different topics concerning the life of Christians. I highly recommend reading it. Corrie’s words are a source of strength and courage in times of discouragement, and she knows exactly how to point people back to Christ. Please give this book a read.

I received an advance readers copy of this book from the publisher, but the opinions in this review are all my own.

40 devotionals that address many aspects of being a human being on this fallen world. From the perspective of a phenomenal woman and model Christian, very humble and down to earth, we are graced with historical snippets of Ms. Corrie's (and Ms. Betsie's) life at Ravensbrück and abroad. Talk about being thrown into the furnace, so to speak, Ms. Corrie and her sister Ms. Betsie, join the ranks of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, as warriors of the faith, holding on to God's Word in times of peril. Women of true grit. As an imperfect man, and a struggling Christian, I am always open to finding practical ways to apply God's Word in my life. Trust me, when I say, I perk up when someone makes scripture, that much more accessible. Ms. Corrie's "God Is My Hiding Place" - brings that possibility closer and within reach. Highly recommended, for individual and group review/study.

I felt privileged to read this book, as I grew up reading Corrie ten Boom’s books and seeing her on Billy Graham. Of course, she did not write this in 2021, as she has been gone since 1983 on her 91st birthday. But at the same time, these are her writings. They were compiled to make this 40-day devotional. With that said, I remember some of these from her books, but some I did not. Even thought I grew up reading her books, I still learn things from here. I highly recommend this. I read this before I go to bed each night, which ends my day on a good note.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this ebook from NetGalley for my honest review.

God is My Hiding Place became available October 19, 2021 from Chosen Books.

Very nice spiritual devotional book. This book is set up in 40 devotions, headed as Day 1, Day 2, etc., so for those who like to read something spiritual daily, this is a great set-up for that. Each day is very fast, with a topic for the day, an example from Corrie ten Boom's life, and then a prayer to pray at the end of each. I am not one for pre-written, pre-designed prayers, preferring instead to pray for what I need daily, but the topics and ideas to focus on one spiritual item daily are very nice. I also chose to read several chapters/days at a time instead of focusing on only one a day. For greater channeling of the concepts, it is probably best to read one daily to give it to the greatest attention and care needed, although I still felt I gained quite a bit of insight from this little book reading it the way I chose to. It is also helpful to be already familiar with ten Boom's history and writings/books before reading this book. I have not read her books previously, so I feel like I was missing a lot of background/context for a lot of her examples used in the book. The book is not actually written by ten Boom but compiled by someone else using her previous writings and then that person or people also (I'm assuming) wrote each of the accompanying prayers. Again, the chapters are short, broken up into a daily worship concept, with great examples from ten Boom's life to help the reader with the context and how to implement the prayers into their daily life.

This devotional is one of the best I’ve ever read, I highly recommend it! I typically don’t recommend devotionals because they usually don’t go very deep, but it’s Corrie ten Boom…of course there’s much more substance than you’d normally find. This is one I’ll return to over and over again!

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. I really enjoyed every daily reading throughout this book. Corrie Ten Boom is a treasure and her words are timeless. As bad as things have been for many of us these past couple of years, we can overcome and find hope and promise in our Christian faith; Corrie proves this by sharing her experiences and her faith. I will be purchasing this book for my family and friends.

"If you look at the world, you'll be distressed. If you look within, you'll be depressed. But if you look at Christ, you'll be at rest."--Corrie ten Boom.
Corrie Ten Boom’s books and writings are replete with such quotes as these. Inspiring indeed. More so, because she “practiced what she preached” in the truest sense.

God Is My Hiding Place is a 40 day devotional based on Corrie Ten Boom’s writings in which she shares dynamic, personal encounters with God during her imprisonment at concentration camps during World War II as well as lessons she learned “doing life” in general There are forty daily devotional entries through which she shares profound personal spiritual insights. Each short devotional reading is followed by a prayer for the reader’s consideration/mediation.

Corrie’s simple faith during complex trials is inspiring and causes us to aspire to be strong in our faith during our daily life circumstances or if faced with dire circumstances. Corrie shares her stories through these devotionals to encourage readers that God is alive and available to ALL of us. Her stories demonstrate how to embrace God and His promises, thereby exercising faith. Readers get a glimpse of how Corrie gained courage and comfort from the Holy Spirit as she exercised faith in God’s promises and principles. This devotional book will increase one’s faith in God, deepen one’s peace through God, and encourage one’s spiritual walk with God.

While we may not suffer such horrors as Nazi death camps, we all will experience deep and dark tribulations. Through Corrie Ten Boom’s writings, we are assured that God is with us and will support and comfort us during the worse of times in this world if we turn to Him, run to Him and trust Him in ALL things. She encourages us to find our solace and shelter in Him. When there is nowhere else to go, she reminds us that God alone is our hiding place.

I appreciated her honest transparency and vulnerability in sharing so many excruciating experiences. This book is not a a remote, doctrinal or theological account. Instead, it is a deeply personal, experiential account of her relationship with a living God who sustained her during the bleakest, darkest days one can’t even imagine. It’s uplifting and inspiring to read her stories, knowing such faith and encounters with God can be ours, too!

My thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

My Thoughts: I absolutely loved The Hiding Place, so I jumped at the chance to read more from Corrie ten Boom. God is My Hiding Place is a great introduction to her writings and the various lessons that she had learned. She's so inspiring and dedicated to our Lord. The one thing that I found a bit odd was the version of the Bible the publisher chose to use with each devotion. I'm not a NKJV only type of person, but given the author's era, I felt like the modern translation didn't blend well with Corrie's writings.
But the devotional was a blessing to read, and I think it would make a great gift to seasoned or new believers.
I received a copy from the publisher. I was not compensated for this review or required to give a favorable one.

I read this book years ago, so his comes as a refresher. It gives an excellent perspective of past events in Corrie's life, plus ways to let her experiences and lessons teach and guide us. This is solid and practical advice that will never go out of use. Highly recommended.

5 comforting stars
Corrie ten Boom is a woman whose “wisdom, compassion and genuine love for God and his people span generations.” In this devotional book we “read accounts of her imprisonment, where the Lord met her and her sister (arrested for hiding Jews in the Netherlands) in profound ways. You will glean from the 33 years of ministry that followed. But most importantly, we believe you will encounter the One who became Corrie’s closest Friend – Jesus.”

The short, two page devotions have a bible verse and Corrie’s writing, concluding with a tender prayer. The verses are often familiar, but Corrie’s writing shines new light on them. All the writing shared loving, kind biblical truths. I loved her witness, with simple yet touching personal stories. The book ends with helpful Christian resources and affirmation statements. I often read more than one devotional a day – and wish there had been more of them! It would make a great gift for a friend or family member – or oneself!

The love of God is the answer to every problem, every fear and all of our insufficiencies. When we
trust Him with our lives and do what he says to do, we are safe.

It is not what I feel that counts, but what I believe. God has not forgotten me.

Each devotion touches on the love of God when Corrie was at her worst, suffering in isolation (Jewish Camps), and experiencing the forgiveness that only God can give when we give it to others. I would highly encourage all Christians to read Corrie ten Boom. She puts faith into perspective with the powerful word of God like no other. I love her teaching and her transparencies. She does not claim to have it all together but she does claim that God keeps her together. Something we need to be reminded of! We have a hiding place! Glory

A special thank you to Bethany House Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review

Corrie ten Boom is renowned for her book, The Hiding Place. After being imprisoned in Ravensbrück during WWII for hiding Jews, Corrie took shelter under her Savior’s wings, holding tightly to the promises of His Word. Through incredible loss and hardship, Corrie survived and dedicated the rest of her life to writing and sharing the Gospel with the world.

Are you feeling defeated? Maybe you’re longing to draw closer to God but aren’t sure where to begin?

God is My Hiding Place: 40 Devotions of Refuge and Strength takes a deep look into Corrie’s writings, sharing wisdom that will open your eyes to the love and faithfulness of God, renewing your strength to persevere another day! Filled with the Holy Spirit, Corrie’s writings will touch your heart, and the power and truth of God’s presence will feed your soul!

I have always been reserved when it comes to reading devotionals. They are either a hit or miss; however, God is My Hiding Place is a home run! Every day, I looked forward to uncovering more of Corrie’s life story — her time in Ravensbrück, ministering worldwide, and personal testimony. With great insight and encouragement, Corrie’s life reminds us that no matter how alone, helpless, weak, or lost we feel, God IS watching over us and covering us with His wings!

Corrie ten Boom went through struggles most of us will never know; yet, she was not broken. The Lord sustained her, and He wants to do the same for you! Touching on topics that affect all of us, this devotional will not only be the ladder out of the pit of darkness you might have fallen into but provide light to show you the way forward.

God is My Hiding Place is a 40 day devotional about Corrie Ten Boom’s life. Corrie Ten Boom is a Christian who was arrested and put into a concentration camp because her and her family were found hiding Jews. She survived the horrors of the camp and went on to become a voice and a champion of spreading her story around the world as well as the gospel message. Each day in this devotion highlights a specific verse and then has Corrie highlighting a part of her life that connects to the verse. At the end of each day there is a prayer that connects the verse to personal application. Overall, I enjoyed the relevance of this devotional and the verses highlighted.

The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom is a beloved book that has inspired thousands of people! This 40-day devotional based on her writings will uplift, and strengthen your faith.
These devotionals come from her writing's based on her experience during the Holocaust, in the concentration camps, and as the only survivor of her family. After her release from the camp, she went on to travel across the world, spreading the Gospel.
These devotionals are somewhat short but very powerful and insightful. They start out with a Bible verse and end with a prayer. I cannot recommend this book enough as a companion to your Bible reading!
I was so excited to receive a copy from the publisher and Netgalley in return for an honest review.
