I loved reading through these devotionals by Corrie Ten Boom. They are inspirational and very insightful to what she, her sister, and others had to endure while they were held by the Nazis'. Corrie was a brave soul to stand up for herself and others throughout her life as a Christian woman. I believe that we can learn a lot from her and I hope to read her other books about her life as well!

Like everything from Corrie Ten Boom, this little devotional is full of her wisdom and simple, yet profound insight. The devotionals are short, about four clicks (pages) and end with a prayers. Covered topics include thankfulness, anxiety, healing for the brokenhearted, forgiveness, etc. A lot of biblical wisdom for the everyday tasks of life.
the book comes in electronic format so it's easy to download and access from your device. Thank you Net Galley and publisher!
This has been one of the best devotional books I have read in a long time. Corrie talks about God in a fresh way. Her stories about being in consentration camps were very interesting and eye opening, she had such a strong and deep relationship with God. It was so inspiring. I've already recommended this book to friends. I'm planning on buying it for myself. Everyone should read this. The way God worked through her and her sister was incredible. God is so good!
Corrie ten Boom is a well known Holocaust survivor who put into concentration camps because of her help with the underground movement to help Jews in the Netherlands during WWII.
This devotion collects 40 short autobiographical stories and examples of God's faithfulness and power in her life. Each devotion has an added prayer and includes a Bible verse that connects to the lesson that is illustrated. These stories were so powerful. They range in topic from learning to obey God's voice, to placing trust in God, to casting cares and worries on the Lord, to forgiveness, honesty, hope, and many others. This book made me even more excited to pick up Corrie ten Boom's full autobiography to learn of all the inspirational ways that God walked with her. This was inspirational and a great devotional to remind me of many important themes.

God is My Hiding Place is a forty day devotional based on The Hiding Place, by Corrie Ten Boom.
This small book is packed full of hope and wisdom. Much of it is Corrie’s experiences, including her imprisonment during WW2, her sister Betsie's wise words, her adventures preaching the Gospel and her daily walk with the Lord.
I found myself reading more than one a day because I enjoyed it so much!
What an inspiration. I knew of Corrie ten Boom but never read her. This was a neat devotional type book of a woman with string faith.
I never got to hear Corrie ten Boom in person but I've heard many of her stories. When I saw this devotional, I quickly grabbed it up to read. True to my expectations, Corrie used stories from her life to inspire us to live the Christian life. No matter how dark the situation, we can hold on to God and find something to be grateful for. Sometimes, these things are surprising, like having flies in the room. What could possibly be good about that? Well, you'll need to read God is my Hiding Place for yourself.
These devotions are quick reads (only two or three pages) will definitely leave you with the thought, "If she can get through that, I can get through this!"

I really enjoyed this book! Each devotion starts with a theme, a scripture verse, then Ms. ten Boom shares a story from her life that pertains to the theme, and each devotion ends with a prayer.
Even though Ms. ten Boom died many years ago, her stories remain pertinent in today's world. I really enjoyed this book!

This is a book I come back often. Sprinkled with bible verses and author’s own experience, this 40 days devotional is a wonderful companion to anyone going through hard times. I’ve read it mostly at night and found the writings very encouraging and comforting.
Really worth it!
It is a wonderful compelling devotional and it has me reading it and pondering the words of Corrie.
She lived a life that is full of following Christ and seeking to do His will.
It is compelling to read because of what she lived through and experienced in the WW2.
Real life stories from her and what God has shown her in the darkest places, God was her hiding place and it was a firsthand experience proclaiming of who God is.
God is My Hiding Place is a 40 day devotional by Corrie Ten Boom. She was a prisoner of war during WWII. Her whole family were prisoners because they housed and protected Jews in their home in Holland. She was the only survivor of her family from that prison camp.
This devotional shares stories of Corrie and her family as they trusted God and relied on Him. My mind is blown away by her forgiveness towards her captors. She truly is a hero of faith. With all that is going on in this world right now, this devotional is very much needed. I am blessed to have gotten a copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.
I read Corrie ten Boom's The Hiding Place for the first time about two years ago. I found it to be a touching memoire filled with pain, sadness and triumph. Ten Boom's story is one that speaks to James 1:2-4. Ten Boom faced numerous troubles, but those troubles forced her into the arms of Christ. She clung to him with all her strength. I am re-reading it with my kids now as we work through this devotional together.
I preface my review this way for a bit of background. God Is My Hiding Place is an amazing devotional. I love how it doesn't just focus on ten Boom's time in Haarlem and the concentration camps. While The Hiding Place is an incredible story, it doesn't speak to all of ten Boom's life. She dedicated her later years to Christ. While she had a solid upbringing in Christ, it wasn't until her she was older that her adventures began.
I think these two books show that God can use us at any age. Don't let age stop you from being a light for him.
God Is My Hiding Place offers only snippets of her story. These snippets provide much wisdom to us readers, particularly for those who might be struggling. And, it doesn't matter what we struggle with. Ten Boom's words are a balm to the heart and a soul. Devotions speak to anxiety, worry, trusting in God's time, relying on him, loving him and serving him.
Reading God Is My Hiding Place wants me to read more books by Ten Boom to learn about her life story.
All Christians should read this devotional. I think the most important thing to note is that an understanding of who Corrie ten Boom is essential. I don't know that someone who hasn't been exposed to her writing or to her story will get the most out of it.
Ten Boom's message is consistent: she points us back to God's word and how he has proved himself faithful time and again. While I say all Christians should read this, I want to draw particular attention again to those people who might be struggling with worry, or anxiety, or mistrust or not understanding their purpose.
Lovers of Corrie Ten Bloom will love this devotional of God is my Hiding Place as Corrie gives you verses and encouragement for each day when you need them
I really loved reading this book and i was encouraged to dig deeper into God's word.
Corrie ten Boom wrote of her family’s part in the Dutch resistance movement during World War II in her book, “The Hiding Place” that was later made into two movie adaptations. Her family and others with the resistance helped hide their Jewish neighbors in her father’s watch shop from the Nazi forces. Despite their arrest, the ten Booms had hidden six Jews in their home who were not discovered.
Corrie and her sister Betsie were first taken to Scheveningen prison and then to the worst concentration camp, Ravensbrück. Betsie lifted Corrie up by showing her where God was intervening on their behalf even there. She showed Corrie how to live with a kingdom focus. She pointed out: 1. The sisters were together in the camp. 2. No one searched them and found their Bible when they were taken into the camp. And 3. Thanks to lice, the guards stayed out of their work and sleep area. Betsie and Corrie would read to the other women from the Bible and minister to them. Betsie taught Corrie what it looked like to live out 2 Corinthians 4:16-18:
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
I remember reading "The Hiding Place" sometime during my high school years and watching the movie. I would return to the story in my mid-20s when I created a course for first-year college writing around the theme “The Self as Other” at Kent State University. At 51, my admiration increased all the more. What a resilient woman of faith. She survived horrific circumstances and her faith grew and thrived despite trauma. God used these older women just like He used Paul while he was imprisoned. What prison had been for Paul, the concentration camp became for the sisters: a ripe field for ministry. They were modern-day disciples for Jesus Christ.
Corrie’s sister and father died while imprisoned in the concentration camp. She survived to continue the ministry she started with Betsie. She wrote "The Hiding Place" and other works to share truth from God’s word, His faithful promises, by drawing from the deep well of painful memories from her time alongside Betsie. She shared timeless truths with her readers while thrilling this believer’s heart with memories of God's provision, protection, peace, and strength that sustained her at the camp and beyond in her missionary work.
Those editing the devotional pulled from various passages in Corrie's writing to supply daily food for thought to meditate on throughout the day. Her stories reminded me of a theme that's resonated in other nonfiction works I read in the last few years of this pandemic: God wastes nothing. He uses everything to grow us into who He made us to be, to give us victory and Him all the glory.
A prayer was included at the end of each day that could have been written by Corrie herself. This book would make a great gift to give friends and family. It belongs alongside Charles Spurgeon, D.L. Moody, and other Christian philosophers and writers as a resource. I had the thought: Susan, you might want to buy this to leave in a waiting room. It's daily food for the soul. Corrie’s words will continue to reach the next generation of people God has in mind to become transformed by His word into the person He created them to be. I adore historical books, and this is such a beautiful classic. I recommend because of the story itself, writing style, and its ability to transport you into a different world/time period.
As a Corrie Ten Boom fan, I couldn't pass up God is My Hiding Place, a collection of 40 of her devotions that focus on the Lord as refuge and strength. I was not disappointed. Each devotion pointed me back to God and His character, and reminding me again that He is my refuge and strength. Ten Boom's candid and simple, yet profound reflections on God's Word and His faithfulness in her life and the lives of others encourage the faint of heart to cling to the Most High as their refuge. I appreciate that Ten Boom takes you straight to the Lord and His Word rather than offering up religious platitudes. Not only that, but Ten Boom shows you how even in difficult times, she and others like her sister Betsy clung to the Lord as their refuge. This is one I'll pull out again and again when I feel I'm barely hanging on.
Note: I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for this honest review. However, the opinions expressed are my own.
God is My Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom is a collection of the author’s short writings in the form of a devotional. In this crazy world, I found her words soothing to my soul. She speaks with the wisdom of someone who has survived unspeakable horrors and pain and lived to tell the faithfulness of her Father. So good and so needed. I’m so glad this collection was produced. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
As a fan of Corrie Ten Boom books and testimonies I really enjoy this 40-day devotional based on Corrie's writings. It's a beautiful collection of her writing that will encourage and strengthen your faith and prayer life.
Corrie Ten Boom's "The Hiding Place' is such a well known book. I had the good fortunate to visit her old home in Holland a few years ago. This book, even though short, is full of power and faith.
Each devotion is a little more than a page long having started with a verse and ended with a short prayer. But there is much to learn from each lesson in faith. Corrie and Betsie, her sister, have remarkable faith and one we can all learn from. They simply believed in God being the Shepherd and we lack nothing. It is both inspiring and convicting.
Some of the stories are based on her experience in the concentration camps but also there are many from her life post that horrible season and they are equally convicting.
I think everyone will gain some benefit from this devotional whatever the season you might find yourself in. It's very hard not to be stirred and one's spirit grow in wonder and hope in our wonderful Saviour and Lord.
I was very fortunate to receive an early ebook copy from the publisher via NetGalley with no expectation of a positive review.
