What a wonderful dose of Corrie Ten Boom's impactful writings on the Lord. Perfect for today's time of tribulation and unrest. Highly recommend. #godismyhidingplace #corrietenboom #netgalley #goodreads
This is a marvelous 40 day devotional of excerpts from the writings of Corrie ten Boom, mostly from The Hiding Place: The Triumphant True Story of Corrie Ten Boom, her best selling book that tells of her family's arrest and imprisonment in a Nazi concentration camp for hiding Jews.
She uses her experiences to highlight truths from the bible and ends each day with a prayer.
A heart-stirring devotional.
This is a wonderful devotion book that I am continuing to read. I would recommend it to anyone. Corrie teaches many lessons through her and he sister's examples in this book. It is a book that stirs the heart to trust God more and expect him to show up.
While I often look for spiritual books to supplement this didn’t click for me at this time. I hope to give it a chance again in the future.
Beautifully written book.
It encouraged and convicted me in my ways.
I have watched a movie about Corrie ten Boom and have imagined all the things that has happened to her in this book.
Definitely would recommend it to others.
The Hiding Place is one of my favourite books of all time, so I loved this collection of excerpts form Corrie Ten Boom's writing together with Bible verses and prayers. Her stories are inspiring and her faith shines through. The devotions in this book are helpful little bite-sized pieces of encouragement to trust in God, whatever challenges we may face. Whether or not you are familiar with Corrie Ten Boom's writing I'm sure this book will provide encouragement.

Thank you NetGalley and Bethany House for the opportunity to read and review this book.
God Is My Hiding Place: 40 Devotions for Refuge and Strength is just what I needed in my life right now. Corrie ten Boom is such an inspiration. Highly recommended. Five plus stars.
Love, love, loved this devotional. Very moving and touching. I definitely recommend this devotional and adding it to your daily routine and scripture reading.
God is My Hiding Place is South a beautiful and touching collection of daily devotional. The length and content of the devotions are inspirational and perfect, as are the included prayers. Knowing Corrie Ten Boom’s background and testimony really help to put in perspective the devotions. This book is so inspiring and the perfect start or end to each day.
For the last month or so I have been reading up on Corrie ten Boom. There are several reasons for this. First, I feel like ten Boom’s era and our modern times are very similar. I have been reading the writing on the wall for a while and it is pretty clear that the abhorrent mistakes of the past will be repeated again in one way or another … and most likely very soon. Second, I am in awe of ten Boom’s unwavering faith even through seriously evil circumstances. God was no doubt her hiding place. I am hopeful that if I can learn about ten Boom and her faith, perhaps my courage and strength in troubling times will grow a little stronger.
I believe with all my heart that God is my hiding place. I trust that His Word is real and true, and more relevant today than perhaps in any other time in history. But I still have stupid, stupid fear that I battle on the daily. I hate that I still battle fear, but I do. So, I’m hopeful for a little extra encouragement from a wonderful woman who really illustrated a life centered on Jesus no matter what.
In my reading up on ten Boom I discovered a new devotional that released just this past October. It’s called God is My Hiding Place: 40 Devotions for Refuge and Strength. Then I discovered that I could get a copy of this devotional on NetGalley — was God giving me a sign to read this book, or what?!
I really love this devotional and I highly recommend it, which is saying a lot because I am not normally a devotional kind of gal.
So, what do I love? I like the set-up. Each devotional is broken down in the same way. There is a topic, followed by a related topical Biblical verse, then a fabulous story from Corrie ten Boom, and finally a prayer to wrap-up the topic. The topics are varied, but include things like happiness, healing for the brokenhearted, forgiveness, and being in the center of God’s will. I really love the flow of each devotion, too. And ten Boom’s stories are simply amazing. I appreciate how encouraged I’ve become from reading about all the things she went through and overcame. Her faith that God would see her through is evident throughout ten Boom’s stories, and her love for Jesus is infectious. I appreciate the reminders that God is our Hiding Place. No matter what scary thing we go through, God will be there with us every step of the way.
If you are struggling with discouragement or fear or any other kind of issue, I highly recommend checking out a copy of God is My Hiding Place: 40 Devotions for Refuge and Strength. Added to your daily Bible Studies, this little devotional could be the thing to help remind you that God is here for you right this very second. He will always be your Hiding Place. I don’t know about you, but I am super grateful God is available to me for this purpose.
I received a review copy of this novel in eBook form from the publisher, Bethany House Publishing, via NetGalley. In no way has this influenced my review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I loved this devotional! Some of the 40 entries are super rich, full of biblical truth. I felt like I was being washed in grace. Others focused more on a spiritual principle and contained a story from Corrie's life to illustrate it. Knowing her history makes you sit up and take notice when she talks about God's provision and protection and forgiveness. She knows what she's talking about. She had to rely on God in incredibly difficult circumstances.
One of my favorite entries focused on prayer. She writes, "When I was a little girl, I was sure that Jesus was a member of the ten Boom family. It was just as easy to talk to Him as it was to carry on a conversation with my mother and father" (location 451). How compelling! I wish it were this way for me and my family. She went on to share many helpful insights. "Any concern that is too small to be turned into a prayer is too insignificant to be made into a burden."
This book is helpful, biblical, rich, poignant, and full of wisdom. I would highly recommend it. Thank you to Bethany House for providing me with a free e-copy. All opinions are my own.
What can one say about anything that is written by Corrie ten Boom that hasn't already been written? You can feel the very essence of God in her words - the Holy Spirit speaking to you through her experience and wisdom.
I was actually surprised at how deeply each day's devotion touched me. I didn't realize each day would be so profound as well as timely. Funny how God can use devotions on just the right day and this happened to me time and time again with this book.
I'm not one to write in books or to highlight, but this one just begs to be written in. To go back to later and touch upon different pieces. I love that Corrie often highlights her sister Betsie's faith and trust in God because the words she said to Corrie are words I need to hear as well! Yes, even today. Her father, through Corrie's memories were a strong reminder of how I want to turn my children's hearts to God. I would've love to have known her father!
Any reader will see how God moved in mighty ways in their lives and be highly encouraged. I had days where one sentence was a reminder of how God has cared for me through his provision for them. Sometimes it was a challenge to forgive or a balm for my weary mind or heart. Again, the timing of each devotion was incredibly perfect!
If you're looking for a devotion that would lift your eyes to the Savior and encourage your faith, don't miss this one! It's a beautiful piece of work.
When I first became a Christian over 40 years ago, Corrie ten Boom's story The Hiding Place made me realize how much God loved us and what it means to be willing to lose our lives for His sake. I often listened to her on the radio and missed her insights into faith and living for Jesus. In God is my Hiding Place, Corrie's words again bring comfort and inspiration to a weary soul.
I found many nuggets of wisdom to ponder:
"Worry is carrying tomorrow’s load with today’s strength—carrying two days at once. It is moving into tomorrow ahead of time. Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows— it empties today of its strength."
"We must not worry about what we do not understand in the Bible. Instead, we should be concerned about what we do understand but do not live by."
"When the worst happens in the life of a child of God, the best remains and the very best is yet to be."
With prayer at the end of each day, this 40-Day Devotional is so inspiring that I ordered my own hardcover copy of it so that I can read it again and again. I highly recommend it!
This is a wonderful daily devotional to add to your morning routine if you want a mixture of real life inspiration mixed in with scripture. I have always found Corrie ten Boom to be one of the most inspiring women alive after reading her book The Hiding Place, and this story does cover similar topics to that original book. It was a very uplifting way to start the morning and I really found myself improving from reading it.
God is My Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom is a collection of 40 devotions of refuge and strength. You will be so encouraged as you read through these devotions. Each day has a scripture, usually just one verse, followed by a short devotion from the life of Corrie Ten Boom. Each devotion then ends with a prayer.
As I read through this devotion one thing I kept thinking is how easy my life really is. If you look at the struggles Corrie Ten Boom faced and how she kept the faith and pressed on you can't help but be encouraged. One thing I really like is that it's not all fluff. She doesn't just share how she had this great faith, she shares the struggles, the times that she didn't want to think positive or maybe couldn't see the best of the situation in the moment, and at times even struggled with forgiveness. But throughout all the struggles she knows that it is prayer and God will help her through. She shares with us, her readers, of the lessons she learned and she shares of how great God really is.
I felt so uplifted and can't recommend this devotional enough. I will soon be reading The Hiding Place again.
Thanks to Bethany House Publishing for providing me with a copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.
In God Is My Hiding Place, readers will find 40 devotions based on Corrie ten Boom's writings. These devotions will help in times of trouble or in times where we need more strength in our faith. I will refer to this inspirational book often as I experience my own religious journey.
Sometimes you just need to spend some one on one time with God, and the stories in this book was amazing and very touching. I finished this one in 1 day and it was totally worth it. If you are looking for something to lift you up, and give you some major motivation to keep going and that God has some big plans for you,. This is the book for you!
This was such an insightful devotional book. I find myself thinking of the lessons long after I read them and find practical application in my life. One of the first ones stood out for days after I read it. The lesson was on giving thanks for everything, even the fleas.
The thing about this is the perspective of Corrie Ten Boom having survived a prison camp in WWII. I feel that if you can find faith and inspiration from God in the most dire circumstances, you can find it anywhere. I truly appreciate this devotional book and the stories therein. It gives perspective to my problems and makes them feel less insurmountable.
This is insightful and faith building and I couldn't recommend it more.
I received an eARC through NetGalley and this is my honest review.
