I did not love this one. The main characters were not very likable and the story was very predictable.
I love Elle Kennedy but this book did not hit me the same as her others! The pace of their relationship felt rushed and I just didn't feel the connection between them.
I really like Elle Kennedy's writing style. She is great at telling a story and even when it isn't my favorite, I still have a lot of fun. This one was enjoyable but not my favorite from Elle!
Elle Kennedy books are always so hit or miss for me. This one was somewhere in the middle for me. I liked the world building, but it was a little dramatic.
A spicy new adult read. Maybe I'm getting old but I think my real complaint with this book and many like it is that they make these characters too young to be behaving the way they do. She feels so old to be in college at 20 and he owns his own home with his brother at a similar age. Age them up a few years to make it a bit more believable. However, the drama and nonsense they were doing did feel rather childish. It was a stupid plan for him and his friend's to come up with even in anger and of course it backfired. Still an enjoyable read due to the lovely seaside town and the romance.
A fun sweet read! Highly recommend.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for my ARC.
My second book by Elle Kennedy. It follows the story of Mac and Cooper and although it did have a few tropes I was not a fan of, I did enjoy parts of it. The story was predictable and I do wish there was an epilogue to it, which I think could have helped the story, but alas it did not.
"Good Girl Complex" by Elle Kennedy introduces us to Mackenzie "Mac" Cabot, a young woman who has spent her life striving to meet the expectations of others.
Mac's journey takes an unexpected turn when she relocates to Avalon Bay, a beachside town where she encounters Cooper Hartley, the local bad boy. Despite their stark differences, their friendship deepens, challenging Mac to break free from her orderly life and embrace her true desires.
Elle Kennedy weaves a captivating narrative filled with authentic characters and palpable chemistry between Mac and Cooper. As their relationship evolves, readers are drawn into a story of self-discovery and acceptance.
What sets "Good Girl Complex" apart is its exploration of themes like personal growth and the importance of authenticity. Through Mac's journey, the novel highlights the power of embracing one's true self, even in the face of adversity.
Overall, "Good Girl Complex" is a compelling read that blends romance with depth. Elle Kennedy's skillful storytelling keeps readers engaged from beginning to end, making this book a standout in the contemporary romance genre.
This was a great read. I loved this whole series. Great character development. I love the characters in this series and I hope there will be more
Thank you for a review copy of this title. This was a great read! I enjoyed the characters and fell in love with them very quickly. I had a vested interest in watching the two main characters fall in love. This book had a lot of heart poured into it. This book would be perfect for a book club. Overall, an amazing read and can't wait for her next book.
From the beginning I could tell it wasn’t going to be my favorite from this author. For this having tropes that I adore, I was pretty dissatisfied. It felt immature and obnoxious.
Classic cute love story with the perfect amount of witty banter and spice. I loved to coastal town atmosphere which would make it a perfect read for the beach.
The only book that didn't work for me was Good Girl Complex - I love Elle Kennedy because she typically writes wonderful, relatable female leads and this one missed the mark for me.
This was a quick, fun read. I've heard it compared to "After" by Anna Todd, but I haven't read that, so I can't compare. Therefor, it was an enjoyable read for me because I loved the premise.
Elle Kennedy has always been fun reads for me and this was somewhat a let down. This book was full of cheating, bullying, and all around just bad people and characters.
I enjoyed this book and the slow burn, story of opposites attract. I have found a good author whose books I've enjoyed and am reading more and more of as I come across them. The MC's, Mac and Cooper, were a really cute couple that I fell in love with. I always love a snarky character and bantering between two people, and they filled the bill where that's concerned. I am anxious to read the next book and see where their relationship goes. There was a lot of drama in the story, probably too much for my liking, but I still really enjoyed the book overall.
Honestly this book wasn't my favorite! But I did still enjoy it. I know a lot of people don't like the cheating trope but I personally don't mind it. I was getting major outer banks vibes and I love that show so much. This was a quick read!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for giving me a free eARC of this book to read in exchange for my review!
"If your heart's telling you to follow something - go for it. Don't let anyone hold you back, because life is too damn short."
What a wonderful book for the summer weather we've been getting over here🌞 Mac Cabot has always been a people pleaser. She's spent her whole life doing what her loved ones have expected of her. These loved ones included her parents, her friends from prep school, and her picture-perfect boyfriend. These are all people who always expect her to be perfect all the time. Mac's been trying to get her college degree for her parents' happiness, when her heart really wants to focus on her internet business. But of course, she's a people pleaser, so she enters Garnet College. Now, what happens at Garnet College? In comes Cooper Hartley, everyone's favourite bad boy. Cooper hates people like Mac, who have trust funds and are known to be rich snobs. But under not so great circumstances, Mac and Cooper become friends. BUT WE ALL KNOW THEY'RE NOT REALLY GOING TO BE JUST FRIENDS. As Mac and Cooper put their opposite worlds aside and learn more about each other, they realize that there's more than what the casual eye sees. Mac isn't like those other rich kids who cause trouble using their trust funds, while Cooper isn't always a bad boy with bad intentions. The sparks between the two will make your heart swoon😭 A wonderful book about staying true to oneself and learning not to judge a book by its cover.
This was the perfect story for the summer to read, I love this author's writing because you need to just read in one sitting.
