This was such a FUN read! Snarky, sassy, sexy, witch’s lingo swapped for traditional swearing. A paranormal romance that could be for anyone. Sure, there’s politics. But it’s between witches, shifters, vampires, and angels so it’s entertaining as hell. This reads a bit like I Dream of Jeannie met Twilight and gave us a little paranormal romcom offspring. A very light and easy flowing read with extremely entertaining characters. So far it’s a stand-alone but I could easily accept a couple more books to make it a series. Read if you like folklore, paranormal, romcom, steamy little numbers, laugh out loud dialogue or all of the above!

Violet is a witch without any magic - until she reconnects with the boy who broke her heart as a teenager, Lincoln Thorne. Both are being forced to find a mate, and decide that it would be mutually beneficial for people to believe they're dating.

Another book to be added to my easy-breezy list of romances - but make it witchy. I loved the major feminist undertones, even in a world of witches, shifters, vampires, and demons. Just because we're magical doesn't mean we need to be sexist!!

I can see so many spin-offs coming from this book and honestly I would read them all.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin for the review copy!

I devoured this book. I love the paranormal romance genre. This book was no different. I anticipate future novels in this series.

Violet was a strong female lead. She didn't care that she was magicless. She took it in stride. She was a bit of a hot mess. Her passion for the children of the community center showed how she cared for everyone. She had clearly been harboring some feeling for Lincoln Thorne since they were kids. There is a thin line between love and hate.

Lincoln, the North American Pack Alpha, also still held a candle for Violet all these years later. However, he was hexed and thought he couldn't be with her. Upon agreeing to a fake relationship, did they experience their true feelings. Everything snapped into place for the both of them.

It was a fun and engaging read during the Halloween season. It is a shame is not releasing until February. It was enjoyable getting to know some of the Supes in this book. I hope to read plenty of stories surrounding these characters. It is written from third person omniscience point of view, however each chapter is broken into scenes that change between Violet and Lincoln's perspective. It would have been helpful to have their names to introduce these parts, but really that is my only critique.

I was unable to finish this book. Like other reviewers, I found it to be too corny and overall unenjoyable. My apologies to the author.

Thanks for the copy, Netgalley - however, I could not finish this book. It read like a person trying to insert different words and phrases to make their book sound adult. It just didn't feel natural, and I didn't quite understand the world-building. The triplet relationship was way over the top, as well.

I got this book from NetGalley and loved it. Violet is the oldest one in a powerful family of triplet witches. Her grandmother is the prima for the supernatural council. She too is part of a powerful trio of witch sisters. Being the oldest, she is expected to become the next prima….except that she wasn’t born with magic! This is fine with her because her second sister is ready to pick up the gauntlet. Not only will Rose become Prima, she will also be forced to wed an alpha shifter to help anchor her magic. Lincoln and Violet have a bit of a tumultuous past. He is currently the alpha of the north American shifter pack. He has a lot of folk opposing his position, and they are pushing for him to be mated by his fast approaching 33rd birthday. But he only wants his true mate. He is convinced he hasn’t found her yet….as we know, the past always comes back to haunt us. This is a cute romance swirled with destiny and magic!

Bring on the supernatural romances for the spooky season!

Love second chance romance mixed with an enemies to lovers storyline. Not the Witch You Wed is a fun, quick read about two people destined to be together, but they just cannot quite make it work until a little bit of magic enters the picture. It is a cute story that will leave you pining for the next book in the series. Fingers crossed April Asher will continue on with the romances of different characters because I'm in desperate need to find out what happens next.

Hilarious second chance romance? Yes please. Witches and wolves? Uh, duh. This book was adorable and some parts had me rolling! I would definitely recommend to a friend. 4⭐

Not the Witch You Wed is a second chance romance that features Violet a witch with no powers and Lincoln a wolf shifter. Violet and Lincoln became involved with each in high school and now Violet holds a grudge against Lincoln for how things ended when they were younger. Lincoln sees an opportunity to get close to Violet again years later and takes his chance, he feels she is the one who got away. This book contains a lot of humorous scenes that had me laughing out loud. It's the first book that I've read by April Asher and I'll definitely be looking for more books of hers in the future. I really enjoyed the main characters sarcastic bantering and I loved a lot of the secondary characters as well. I'm hoping we'll see more of them in their own books in the future.

Awwww. Such an awesome read. I need more books by this author.

Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This story really sounded more promising from the description unfortunately. The “rom-com/fantasy” aspect was something that really appealed to me and I wanted to like it, but I just wasn’t completely sold.

The fake relationship trope wasn’t working with these two characters. They knew it was real the whole time with a side of “oh Idk it’s a business deal.” Just.. meh.

Now this may be random, but I wanted to point it out: I actually appreciated the fact that the main character was 32 years old. 95% of the time, I’m reading about 18-25 year olds and it was actually nice reading about a MC who is close to my age. Haha

I did enjoy it for what it was, but this isn’t going into a favorites column for me.

I love spooky season and witches and magic and normal bodies and all that jazz... but getting through 2 chapters was brutal for me. This book is super ya with the corny jokes and overused phrases oh hex me, oh hells bells ... there were some funny moments like Roger rabbit but overall it was too corny for me

I found this book so confusing, like maybe there was a prequel that explained all of the different classes of witch, shape shifters, etc. It then made it difficult to get into the entire story. The main character was great but none of the rest were a hit with me. I enjoy cosy mysteries about witches but this one fell flat for me.

I wanted to like this book more, but it was too fluffy, even for the brain candy paranormal romance that I was expecting it to be. The characters seemed very one-dimensional and the writing just seemed a bit lazy. It wasn’t so offensive that it landed on the DNF list, but I probably wouldn’t have liked to pay actual money for it.

WARNING: INCOMING RANT ABOUT LAZY DESCRIPTION VIA BOOB SIZES.
Less than a page into the book we’re treated to an unnecessary bra size description: “As Vi turned at the indoor swimming pool, her cell phone vibrated against her left boob. Going against her better judgment, she tugged it from her DD cup and immediately regretted reading Rose’s message.” It’s literally the first physical description we get of our protagonist beyond the fact that she’s wearing three-inch heels.

By the beginning of chapter 3, we get introduced to Vi’s friend Harper by boob size as well: “A tray clanked down on the counter and one-half of Vi’s best friend brigade sighed, the move pushing out her perfect C-cup boobs.” It also may just be a pet peeve of mine, but cup size doesn’t really mean all that much without a band size to go with it. C-cups on a “redhead with curves to make a pinup envious” may not actually be anything particularly striking.
BOOB SIZE RANT COMPLETE.

I also pulled this quote, which just dumbfounded me: “Council days drained Linc more than when he traveled for weeks on end, taking off from one airport and landing in another.” I think the author was trying to convey the tedium of continuous travel, but taking off from one airport and landing in another is just the way planes work in general.

I received this book free from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I cant believe I have to wait 4 months to get my hands on a physical copy of this book. And oh please to the Goddess above, make this a series.

Right away. I knew this book had me hooked. Violet sparkly additude had me all in.l from the get go. This second-chance with a side of enemies-to lovers and then throw in some sexy paranormal aspects. It was serious 🔥🔥🔥 I loved every minute of it.

4.5
A powerless witch, a progressive alpha, and some meddling besties bring readers a hilarious paranormal rom-com that features a second chance/enemies-to-lovers romance. Centering around a set of triplets, the first in this series focuses around Violet Maxwell. Violet is known as the Maxwell dud, a powerless witch who has spent her life avoiding the supernatural world. When she runs into the man who broke her teenage heart, Lincoln Thrope, her powers manifest and suddenly she finds herself in a fake relationship to avoid being railroaded into marriage.

Deliciously witty and charming with a sexy steamy romance, I look forward to Rose and Olive's stories

Overall, I really loved this book. The relationship between Lincoln and Viv was so interesting to read because of their history together and just seeing how they had to develop a relationship and try to get past those pasts was so heartwarming. I cannot wait for this book to be published so that I can buy the physical copy too!
Overall it was such a great book to read for fall and spooky season and I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys a good witch-y read full of lighthearted romance and thrills.

Not the Witch You Wed is a cute paranormal rom-com. It's a fake-dating second-chance romance with a hint of enemies-to-lovers story. Violet, a sassy witch "dud," and Lincoln, an Alpha wolf shifter, both need to find a mate in order to escape what would basically be an arranged marriage. They somewhat reluctantly agree to date to get everyone off their backs, and of course nothing goes as planned.
I really enjoyed the story, and loved the humor and the sass. The way their relationship evolves and progresses was pretty well done. The main characters were easy to like and root for (maybe not Lincoln at first), and I loved all of the secondary characters. I would love them all to have stories of their own! I would highly recommend this book for anyone who loves romantic comedies and/or paranormal romance, for any time of the year. Comes out February 8th, 2022.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own and are given freely.

This was an adorable romance with witchy characters and some other fun paranormal aspects! I loved that the main character doesn't have her powers. She's so loveable, I felt like I immediately connected with her! Her sisters are pretty awesome in their own ways too. I think the characters were pretty stand-out in this one!

The romance was good. I am not a huge fan of second-chance romance, but this had a good enemies to lovers theme as well that really worked for me!

Not the Witch You Wed by April Asher is the perfect supernatural romance to kick off 2022. After a run in with the werewolf who broke her heart, witch Violet must make a difficult choice. Forced to find a mate, she reluctantly agrees to fake mate with Lincoln. Naturally, chaos ensues, with her magic reappearing along with something else- feelings. Not the Witch You Wed by April Asher was a funny, magical, and swoon worthy romance reminiscent of Wizards of Waverley Place and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
