Boring and draggy tbh. I was annoyed by how long the girl held on to her resentment. Didn't really feel any passion between or leads either. I don't think I want to read any more of this series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this paranormal romance. It has a virgin Succubus, triplet witches, werewolves, shifters, and a hot romance, what more could you want from a book!?! I love that you know where the relationship is heading from the very beginning of Vi and Linc's pact but the journey to get there is fun, flirty, and sexy so you don't mind reading it.

Looking forward to reading more books from April Asher.

Not the Witch You Wed is a cute and fun story of a magicless witch and how she finds her way in her family, community and in love. When she enters a fake relationship with a shifter from her past, she thinks that she is gaining time to solve some pretty big personal struggles. Fake relationships add such a great level of forced proximity and tension that once their story got moving, it was easy to sink into it and stay there. I love the sisters, their friend group and the dynamics at the community center and can't wait to see what comes next for these triplets.

It’s unique plot - magic-less witch Violet that’s part of a witch triad (she and her two triplet sisters) gets thrown into a second chance romance/fake dating/relationship of convenience plot with her ex, Lincoln, a wolf shifter- with some unexpected personal developments.

I started and finished in less than a day because I just didn’t want to put it down. There are were some laugh out loud moments, and I honestly couldn’t stop smiling.

This has to be my favorite 2022 romance release so far, not that I’ve read many but it’s going to the top of this list. I need more of the Maxwell sisters, Lincoln, Edie, and their friends immediately.

I regret not picking this one up closer to Pub Day for sure! It’s also a good listen in audio, so don’t be afraid to pick it up that way.

Unfortunately I'm DNFing this one! It seems like it might get better but it's verrryyy tongue in cheek (or however the saying goes) and I'm not interested in reading that right now. I need more serious romances at the moment!

Not the Witch You Wed is a great paranormal second change at love between Violet, a witch with no powers, and Lincoln, a wolf shifter. Lots of humor and snarky banter made this a fun read. I look forward to the next book in what I hope will be a long series!

I really enjoyed this Not the Witch You Wed and am very much looking forward to the next books in this series. It is not a perfect book, but it was a really fun one for me. So let's talk about it.

Why I Liked This Book: The audiobook was well-narrated, it was engaging and held my attention, and I liked the sisters, found family, and bio family dynamics and how they were explored. I also mostly enjoyed the romance, although I could see how it might not be everyone's favorite.

What I Mean when I Say "It's Not a Perfect Book:" The world building is utterly baffling if you stop and think about it because if paranormals have been out in the open for years then how are there shows like The Vampire Diaries to watch? It just seems very strange. Some aspects of the romance felt like mayyyyyybe slightly underdeveloped. It's a second chance romance, but the first chance aspect felt confusing to me, like I didn't have a good grasp of what it looked like, which meant that the emotional impact was sort of compromised. However, second chance isn't my favorite trope, so I didn't necessarily mind that and chose to mostly think of it as a dislike to love relationship.

But if you like books where you get a lot of family dynamics of different kinds and you don't mind sort of hand-waving world-building, then you may also enjoy this one! Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the e-ARC, although, as mentioned, I read this via an audiobook that I purchased myself.

It all starts with the catchy title and delightful cover. Those two things caught my attention right off the bat. Then I read the blurb and had to read this book. A paranormal rom-com and it's the start of a series! I'm in! The story is as much urban fantasy as paranormal romance, and it is witty and fun from the start. The romance is second chance, enemies to lover, and fake dating all rolled into one. Enemies to lovers is always good for banter, and Violet and Linc are hilarious when they get started. There's a fine line between love and hate, and this couple dances all over it.
There are a lot of characters to keep track of and several are introduced at the beginning. To be honest, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to sort through and remember who's who, but April Asher makes each one distinguishable. It didn't take long and I remembered who was doing what and who belonged to which supernatural group. Asher gives them all to us in this fantastical world - witches, shifters, demons, angels... There's even a succubus! Not the Witch You Wed gives us a witch with no magic (or sleeping magic?) and a wolf shifter, and the chemistry is off the charts whether Violet wants to admit it or not.
So, the story may have started out a little confusing, at least for me, but that didn't last long before I was totally invested in these characters and their world. Now that I've visited, I want to go back, so I'm over the moon that this is a series, and I'll be watching for whatever comes next.

This book is super cute! All kinds of supernaturals can be found between these pages. Violet, one part of a trio of triplet witches, thinks she's a dud. No magic. Until Linoln Thorne shows back up and her nonexistent magic goes haywire. He broke her heart and she hates him, perfect reason for magic to show up and go nuts, right? Oh, if only...

So cute! Super entertaining, just what I needed during this month of February!
There’s the best kind of romance, with a little humor, a little paranormal, a lot of love.
AND it’s the first in a series!! I’m so excited for more! Loved it!

Violet Maxwell is the eldest triplet in a family of witches. However, it seems that she was born without magic, so her younger sister Rose has assumed Vi’s birthright as the next Prima. Living as a Norm hasn’t bothered Vi; she can be around the Supernatural without all the drama, along with her best friends Harper, a succubus, and Bax, a guardian angel. When Vi runs into a ghost from her past at her sister’s Bond Announcement to a French Alpha shifter, things in her life get shaken up a bit. Vi and Lincoln Thorne, or Linc, had history together, and now he’s the Alpha of the North American Pack of shifters. Linc was excited to be reunited with Vi, for whom the years since school have been very kind, but she made her escape as quickly as she could once she recognized the handsome man behind the ski goggles. After their ill-fated encounter, 32-year-old Vi’s magic finally starts to make itself known. Due to some Supe laws in place for the first-born witch of a triad and the Alpha of the pack, Linc and Vi find themselves with little choice other than to fake-date until they can find a more suitable alternative.

Vi and Linc’s fake relationship quickly escalates, but she’s not sure if she can trust him because of their past, and he wants nothing more than to tell her the truth. As Violet learns to navigate her magic with the help of her sisters, she and Linc learn to navigate a life together, until their plan comes crashing down around them. With a little determination and some quick thinking, Vi’s grandmother and the rest of the magical crew work to put the pieces back together.

A werewolf and a witch.urban fantasy. Love? I'm immediately interested!! I was really interested in the magical mix of stuff going on here, but was a little overwhelmed with how it was all presented so quickly (probably because I largely avoid fantasy, I don't always have the attention span). BUT Turns out, I really liked this world and story once I got into it!

It was fun to read, sweet and I actually laughed out loud a few times....and a fat main character, which I LOVE! I hope to see more in this wonderful world of werewolves and witches!!

I really enjoyed this fun read! It's like a romantic comedy had a baby with a sexy paranormal romance and it produced this great (hopefully only first) installment!

Vi is one of three twin sisters and the only one who was born without magic. As (technically) the first born, she should have been heir to a sort-of throne for witches. Her power doesn't manifest until after re-connecting with her boyhood frenemy, Lincoln, who is now the leader of all North American packs. In this world, paranormals are out of the closet and Lincoln is a type of celebrity. He is also obligated to find a mate before his next birthday or one will be assigned to him. Vi is in a similar "mate or be mated" situation herself.

After literally running into one another and feeling a bit of that tingle, they agree to a pact which of course could not go wrong or include misunderstandings. Lincoln, saddled with his own secrets and long standing love for Vi, readily agrees. Chaos and magical romantic storyline ensues. These two were fun to watch, even with the inevitable cringey scenes of miscommunication and misunderstanding. We get a HEA for these two lovebirds, but I am DYING to see where all the other characters end up!

Violet Maxwell is in town for her sister's Witch Bond Announcement weekend celebration (engagement party). Not just her sister, one of her triplet sisters. So when she tries to bow out of some of the celebration with slightly younger sister Olive and they are then caught by Rose, she does feel some guilt. And that compounds the guilt she feels by not picking up her grandmother's place as the Prima Witch. Luckily, Violet was born a dud. No magic whatsoever. She still decides to go skiing with her sisters, even though she's not very good. In fact, she encounters Lincoln Thorne as she's laying in the snow after having fallen over while standing in place (it's not that hard to do, really...) While she doesn't recognize him, he sure as heck recognizes her. He's happy to see her and his Wolf (Lincoln's the Alpha of NAP, the North American Pack) is even more so because he's had a lot of downs in his life recently. He's trying to make it so that all shifters are on more equal footing but there is one particular man, Rose's fiance in fact, who is trying to undo all of his work. He also has a limited time before his thirty-third birthday. If he doesn't have a mate by then, he either has to step down from the Supernatural Council or accept a mate chosen by the Elders. He's also trying to dissolve the Elders but that's a whole other story. He's not quite resigned to fate but the chance of finding a partner who satisfies both he AND his animal are practically nil.
Through mistakes and a lot of accidental relationship building, Violet and and Lincoln do end up together.
There is a LOT of world building and so the first couple of chapters really do read like an info dump and that doesn't really even out but I still enjoyed the read. I'm tracking some of the characters for my own benefit because... there are a lot.
Adrian -- Lincoln's friend, lion shifter
Vi's best friends -- Bax, Guardian Angel -- Harper, succubus coworker at Potion's Up, magic themed bar, Vi brewmaster, virgin, host of radio show Sexy Talk with Savannah They also work together at the Kid Command Center (B&GC for supes?)

I loved this book. My favorite so far of the new year. Supernatural romance, enemies to lovers, fake relationship, and second chance at love... made for a perfect combination. This book is set in the 3rd person which I enjoyed so that we could get both characters points of view.

I found myself laughing a lot while reading this. For starters, Violet, the oldest in a triad of witches turns out to not be able to do magic. She is still so bad ass, witty, funny, and likable. Then there is Linc, the Alpha and head of the wolf shifters. He is the top dog and everyone knows it, finds he is no match for Violet. They dated in high school in which Linc, broke her heart and many years later they find themselves forced to find a mate by the supernatural council. Of course, they form a plan to fake date to keep the council at bay.

I loved the characters, including the secondary ones, and can't wait to see what transpires next between Rose and Damian. Great story line that keeps you interested and just funny. Predictable because yes they need to be together, but predictable here is not a bad thing. I would recommend this book to everyone.

Very, very average. I got tired of hearing the following words: Sparky, “his inner wolf”, true mate, Princess, and Wolf Boy. Felt like it was trying too hard to be young, but it just wasn’t working. I did appreciate having good sister relationships and a good grandma/grandchild relationship, but it was not good enough to outweigh the annoying and cringey.

3.75 Hearts This is a second chance at love with more than magically feelings but actual magic.

Violet is a magic-less witch who dated shifter Lincoln who dumped her when they were teens. But now they are at mating age and the Law says they need to find their mates and settle down. With no one in their lives they decide they will fake date and mate to get everyone off their backs. But as with any fake dating book the old feelings start to come back and then magically (pun intended) Violet’s powers appear too.

I really enjoyed this book. More than I thought I would and as much as I hoped I would. The writing is cute and gives the characters personality that compliment the way they are written. I look forward to the next in the series and hope April Asher can stay at the high bar she set with this story.

Violet is a magicless witch and Lincoln is an Alpha wolf. They have a history where they compete for everything until the moment that they fell for each other and decided to run away together. The night that they were scheduled to run away Lincoln had to make a tough choice and broke Vi's heart. She has not forgotten. Unfortunately, now they both being forced to find a mate because of some old Arcane Law. I love the story plus Vi's grandma is the funniest grandma ever.

I thought this was great. Modern fantasy, sisters who are different, great friends, I'll read Rose and Olive's books as well because I can't wait to see what they're like.
