This book didn't format correctly to my kindle, which made it difficult to read. Most of the words were jumbled and out of order and most of the pictures were either missing or upside down which made reading it a chore. There were several recipes for grilled cheese that I liked and this book was a fun read.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Just because the patrons of Wilcox''Knoxville restaurant love having grilled cheese sandwiches over an inch high and piled with so much other stuff that the cheese is an afterthought does not either make these sandwiches grilled cheese nor does it make them a good idea.

The book is full of gimmicky combinations using a method for making grilled cheese that does not consistently produce a sandwich that hangs together. You probably make better grilled cheese sandwiches than these.

Truly a Great Book of Grilled Cheese! An encyclopedic volume of grilled cheese sandwich recipes and related dishes to round out your meal. I especially loved the international recipes. Delicious sandwiches from simple and hearty to high-end and unique.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.

This is one of the best Grilled Cheese sandwiches in so many ways recipe books I have ever seen. The book starts out with tips and must haves to make the recipes. Then the cookbook goes right into recipes for very creative, never thought of grilled cheese sandwiches, recipes for the perfect sides that pair well with that sandwich and recipes for the special sauces and fillings for that sandwich. Followed by a mess of desserts that are easy to make. Forgot the part about pictures for all recipes are included. One of the best cookbooks I have seen in years.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of the Great Book of Grilled Cheese.

This is.a fun cookbook for anyone who loves cheese and grilled cheese!

The author offers tips on the best tools and cookware to make the best grilled cheese and her recipes are creative and unusual.

I may be a purist but I don't like many add-ins in my grilled cheese; I might go crazy and add tomatoes once in awhile but that's about it.

But, some of the recipes did perk my interest and I'm willing to give it a try.

I once thought the Elvis sandwich was odd but after my first taste, I became hooked so this cookbook offers opportunities to tempt your palate and make something beyond usual grilled cheese sandwich.

I really enjoyed fun facts and wished there had been more.

I know this is an ARC but the photos in the front of the book are upside down or missing and there are plenty of typos.

But, the photos of the grilled cheese came through fine on my Kindle and there were more than I expected. That's that's always a plus.

I was pleased to see the dessert section contained popular recipes because I have a big sweet tooth. In my opinion, a meal isn't over until you have dessert.

This is a great recipe book!

With grilled cheese, sides, and desserts there's a variety of recipes! There are pictures of the recipes that are beautiful. The instructions are also easy to understand. Some of the recipes are time intensive, but others are easy to make. There's a good variety of grilled cheese and other delicious foods, including a sweet grilled cheese.

A fun and delicious book!

The Great Book of Grilled Cheese by Kim Wilcox is full of unusual cheese sandwich combinations - spaghetti, meatloaf, rangoons to name a few. There is also information on the history of the grilled cheese sandwich and the different ways that other countries and cultures make use of cheese and bread.

Wilcox gives a detailed explanation of the kitchen tools and cooking surfaces that are preferred. She also describes the best bread and butter to use.

Some great options if you feel like being experimental in the kitchen.

Please excuse the drool marks on my cookbook. This cookbook made my mouth water with all the delicious looking recipes. I thought I made a mean grilled cheese sandwich but it pales in comparison to these recipes. Who knew you could put spaghetti on a grilled cheese sandwich? Who knew you could have a sausage and gravy grilled cheese sandwich? I do now. I might have to try the spaghetti one. The pictures with all that ooey gooey melted cheese makes you want to run to the kitchen to make one right now.
There's an interesting history at the beginning of the book about how grilled cheese sandwiches started. There is also a picture showing what the outside looks like based on the type of bread used, and what you coat the outside piece with either butter, mayo, butter/margarine blend, or just margarine. I now know that the cheese that oozes out the sides onto the grill is called the cheese skirt. That is always one of my favorite parts.
These grilled cheese sandwiches are not your ordinary Kraft single on white bread grilled cheeses and I think we will all be better for them.

This book starts out with a nice history of the grilled cheese and how it developed into such a tasty, go-to sandwich for many Americans as well as touching on its popularity in other countries.

A good tip in the cookbook is to preheat whatever vessel you are cooking the sandwich (toaster oven, pan, etc) or the bread will get soggy! This tip is something I never knew and know it to work well after having tried out several of the recipes. I also like that it takes you through the pros and cons of different methods to make a grilled cheese (grill pan, cast iron versus nonstick pans, etc) as well as any instruments you might need when cooking.

Not only does it go over the items you need to make the perfect grilled cheese, but this cookbook walks you through the different types of bread and 4 different butter/oil combinations to show which combination makes the best sandwich with the added benefit of photos to show how they all look.

An added bonus to this cookbooks about grilled cheese is all of the delightful, accompanying recipes. I particularly like the recipes for cole slaw, potato salad, and the tomato soup. My children, aged 12 and 14, loved the Pizza Grilled Cheese and the deviled eggs.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review on Netgalley.

I received the Great Book of Grilled Cheese as part of a NetGalley giveaway.

A cold-weather classic, grilled cheese in its various forms has been making kids and adults alike happy for generations. This cookbook features numerous riffs on the original, sweet and savory, vegetarian- and omnivore-friendly alike. I'll say that some of these very much stretch the images of grilled cheese that most people conjure in their heads--in many cases, they're just regular toasted sandwiches that happen to have melted cheese on them, but I can't deny they look delicious. It's such a simple concept for a meal, it's nice to have ideas on how to dress it up with whatever happens to be laying around the kitchen. Not the most glamorous of cookbooks, but one that will undoubtedly get a lot of use with busy people and fussy families.
