Read this in one day - one day! Revenge, perceived revenge, and constant terror - but so mundane you can believe it may happen to you if you meet just the wrong person. No spoilers, but you just have to keep reading and no cheating to see the end, you will want to, but don't!

Ingrid Lewis is a woman on the edge. An accomplished barrister, she successfully defended John Webster, accused of stalking a woman relentlessly, by taking the woman apart on the stand. She did her job, but regrets it once he becomes her stalker. He's both devilishly good at spying on her every move and sociopathically invested in making her feel intimidated and afraid, even to the point of destroying both her home and her marriage.

He has finally stopped his campaign of fear, but the fear is back when a barrister borrows her umbrella and is killed in a freak accident on a busy London street. The police think it was an accident, but Ingrid thinks she was pushed. As other people connected to Ingrid begin to die, John Webster is the only person who can help - unless he's the one responsible. With a police detective assisting her, Ingrid forms an uncomfortable alliance with her wily opponent to find the truth.

This is very definitely a suspenseful thriller that keeps the tension ratcheting up. I particularly enjoyed the details of Ingrid's work as a barrister and the psychological analysis of what it is like for an intelligent woman to be stalked and harassed. The plot is a nicely intricate piece of clockwork. John Webster is one of those evil geniuses that are much more commonly found in fiction than in real life - an entertaining if fundamentally unrealistic mainstay of the story. Over the top? Sure, but lots of fun. I would love to see more of Ingrid Lewis in future.

I kind of went back and forth on this book, this book had suspense, intrigue, and a lot of who done it! I really liked the character of Webster lol he was definitely a bit shady but I did like him! There were parts of the book that had me , I guess not to sure? But all and all it was a good read! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

Attorney Ingrid Lewis defended John Webster and in thanks he became her stalker. After he’s destroyed her life, she finally believes she’s manages to ditch him for good, but then one of her colleagues is killed in a hit and run. Ingrid is sure was the intended target. Then Webster shows up at her door, claiming that she’s in danger and that only he can help. Can she trust him? Or is he the one she should be afraid of?
