An isolated island, a pair of newlyweds, and a stalker......the perfect thriller plot and Sarah Alderson plays the cards perfectly. As their sunny days descend into tense, threatening nights of suspense, this couple will have to set their fears aside to figure out how to survive.
a heart-pounding thriller that will leave readers breathless. The author masterfully builds suspense as newlyweds Liam and Laura find themselves trapped on a remote island with a dark history. Alderson's vivid descriptions transport readers to the eerie atmosphere of the Scottish coast, where the sense of being watched becomes palpable. The tension escalates when they discover a chilling message, revealing that they are not alone and their lives are in grave danger. With its relentless pacing and unexpected twists, "The Stalker" delivers a perfect nightmare that will keep readers guessing until the shocking finale.
I struggled with this in the beginning. It felt like not much happened in the first half of the book. The ending definitely made up for it and I really enjoyed it. They could not have wrapped that up better.
The Stalker by Sarah Alderson was not a favorite book of mine. From the beginning, I struggled to invest in the characters or the plot. While the character development ended up being okay, the plot lacked substance . This was not one I would highly recommend to friends to read, nor did I read this through an educator's lens.
The Stalker is definitely a phycological thriller it has sone excellent twists and turns but sadly it has moments lost in rambling and inconsistent storytelling. I still enjoyed it for the genre which is one of my favorites. This book is so close to the edge of something that could be so good. I am a but disappointed and at the same time glad I decided to read it. If you like a creepy thriller and can overlook a bit of underdevelopment this is still a great read.

The Stalker is a psychological thriller. There were parts of that book that was creepy and then there were super creepy parts. I thought the book was a good read.
The Stalker- Sarah Alderson
”’ This isn’t a honeymoon, it’s a bloody nightmare,’ Liam mumbles under his breath. ‘It was meant to be a romantic getaway but it’s turning into the honeymoon from hell.’”
The premise of The Stalker is a good one, but I was a little disappointed in it. It seemed to drag on forever in some places, and I found the ending dissatisfying
I would love to be able to spend a week in a deserted Scottish isle though. Without the stalker of course.
*Thanks Netgalley for giving me the chance to read this one.

This book was crazy... the ending shocked me. I am still processing. This was such a perfect thriller. It's mysterious, unpredictable, and definitely kept me on the edge of my seat! Would recommend.

I enjoyed the secluded atmosphere of this book but i was so bored i had to hang it up. it takes 100 pages before the ‘stalker’ starts doing anything and i felt like there wasn’t anything going on to make us care about who the stalker even was
The Stalker has everything you could want in a thriller. Atmosphere, thrills, and a plot that will have you guessing till the very end.
I really enjoyed this one. The atmosphere was perfection. The author had me questioning every little thing in this book and I absolutely love that.
I found the ending a little disjointed. I wanted to believe what the author was telling me but I’m still not sure.
Overall I would recommend this one to any thriller lover. Again the setting of the book was so well written I couldn’t get enough.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for giving me an arc in exchange for my honest review.
Amazing book! Loved this story and highly recommend it! I look forward to more books by this author!
Something missing in the story. The entire story just didn't do it, made it unbelievable for me. The stalkers point of view came off very odd. Not much suspense as you would expect in a thriller. Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy.
This book grabbed me from the start. It was so twisty and creepy. Fun and exciting!!! Read it you wont regret it.
Liam and Laura set off on a dream honeymoon on a private island off the coast of Scotland. At first everything seems idyllic and romantic. Laura and Liam appear to be in love with marital bliss in their future. All is not as it seems, when their dream vacation quickly becomes a tragic nightmare. Someone is out to get them and danger is lurking around every corner. Who is behind the mysterious threats? The story was a little slow paced in the beginning, but definitely picked up towards the end. The twisty conclusion was both satisfying and unexpected. Thank you NetGalley and Avon Publishing for my copy.
Liam & Laura are newlyweds and on their honeymoon.
They are spending it on a remote island in Scotland.
And this island IS remote!
They have to pay a guy to give them a boat ride to the island and as they disembark he tells them he will be back to get them in a week.
They have the entire island to themselves.
Or do they?
It’s seeming like they may not be alone on this island.
Cryptic messages are being left for them.
Things are out of place.
And Laura swears she saw someone staring into their window.
It soon becomes clear that they are DEFINITELY not alone.
But with no cell phone service and no way off the island for a week, the couple is forced to figure out who is stalking them… unless the stalker gets to them first.
Woooo. This one was a nail biter.
Super creepy.
Super intense.
AND WHAT A SUPER PLOT TWIST!
Like wow. I did NOT see that coming at all.
Mind. Blown.
"Newly-weds Liam and Laura are spending their honeymoon in paradise: just the two of them on a remote island off the coast of Scotland.
But they soon discover that all is not as it seems, and the island has a tragic past. And they can’t shake the feeling of being watched…
When one morning, they wake to find a message scratched into the window, their worst fears are confirmed. They aren’t alone on the island.
And this stranger wants them dead."
Listen I read that and was like yes this is gonna be a good thriller but I'm telling you what it was a fantastic Thriller the synopsis doesn't do it justice and I didn't see the twist coming and I was shocked. It was hard to put it down and once we got into the who is it why do they want to hurt us until the end I couldn't put it down. It was CRAZY go read this GO.

I read "The Stalker" at night, in bed, and thank goodness my husband wasn't out of town or I would have been terrified! It's been quite a while since a book's story got under my skin like this! What did I love? Well, it's set on a remote island in Scotland, which ticks both the locked room mystery box as well as super atmospheric location. Reveal, I lived in Scotland for about three years, and for this American it was the most beautiful, historic, atmospheric, and yes, sometimes creepy place I've ever lived. It was not hard, when hiking through the forest near where we live and coming across stone cairns, to believe that there was magic afoot!
Liam and Laura have come to this island for a remote honeymoon, after their first one to the Greek Isles had to be canceled due to the death of Laura's mother. They are hoping this will be a time to bond and heal, but instead, they are aware that there is someone sharing this island with them. The sense of foreboding builds as the unknown presence becomes more and more bold in making their presence known.
I don't want to reveal any plot twists, but suffice to say, this was a creepy build up of suspense, and as I said, I don't think I could have read it at night in my house if I'd been alone! About four fifths of the way through the book there is a change of direction. I was so unnerved by this that I had to put the book down for the night! After this point, there are surprising reveals which I hadn't suspected.
I found this to be a very satisfying read. My only regret is that it wasn't my Halloween read. Would have been perfect!

An easy mystery read and chilling enough for a gothic thriller with the atmosphere driving the story. With a remote island off the beautiful coastal land of Scotland, lies a partially burned and haunted castile as well as a cozy 2 story cottage ..VRBO...although no one knows who owns the island itself. A lovely couple celebrating their honeymoon, Liam and Laura are dropped off at the island by a sea captain and promised to see them in a week to pick them up. With a cabin, loaded with groceries and alcohol for a week (I guess they have DoorDash by boat) and no cell phone service, how romantic it all sounds.❤️
Before leaving the mainland, they ventured into a bar with the locals warning them the island is haunted with visuals of ghost sightings. The eeriness of the town people had me worked up to dive deeper into this mystery thriller and finish it within a day. I was also mesmerized by the setting and the exploration of the island.
With the history of the island documented in a book with pictures of the owners of the castle, and generations of the family experiencing Celtic attacks, they could not stop themselves from investigating the treasures that are possibly hidden. The last vacationers left a note in the guest book after exploring the island about a change of plans as if something spooked them away. Liam and Laura quickly realized the fear was about to become real for them also...They are not alone on the island.
*Warning* There were some graphic disturbing scenes and some physical family abuse that might leap out to you also.
Thanks NetGalley and HarperCollins for this ARC in exchange for my review!
Laura and Liam are left on their honeymoon on an island with only them on it. They explore the island and have fun but they discover there is someone on the island with them. The person starts to invade their privacy and they are not happy and soon it turns to fear.
This was a great story with lots of action and I could hardly put it down.

Book 🎧: The Stalker
Author: Sarah Alderson
Genre: General Fiction (Adult) | Mystery & Thrillers | True Crime
RELEASED on July 8, 2021!!!
Sipping thoughts: Sarah Alderson, you have done it again!! I loved The Weekend Getaway-soon to be released on Netflix in Jan, 2022 as a sidenote. The Stalker was just as good. Liam and Laura are being stalked on a deserted island. Is the stalker someone who wants them off the island or someone from the past with a sinister plan? I absolutely loved the twist(s) and was so impressed with myself when I figured it out so early on. Even though I knew what was going to happen before Part 1 was up, it was so great to see it play out and revealed to the readers. I am such a fan of Sarah Alderson and cannot wait to see what she comes out with next.
Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley, @SarahAldersonAuthor, @Harper360 and @AvonBooksUK for an advanced copy of @TheStalker.
