This book is enthralling!! I was hooked from the start.
So much drama, angst and jealousy!!
With that ending, I am dying to see what happens in book two.
I received a copy of Pack Darling: Part One from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Lilah has always had to look after herself. Her mother sold her as soon as she found out she was an omega and now Lilah is dreading the day she has to join a pack. At an omega boarding school she spends her time hiding to avoid being attacked by the other omegas who are all fighting to land the best packs. When a pack finally does choose her she is in for a surprise, because they already have an omega and don’t want another one. Lola Rock made a great new world and I am looking forward to reading the sequel!
I really enjoyed this more than I thought I would. It's a slow burn reverse harem, which is new for me but it works. I felt pain and longing as much as the Lilah did. I never expected to cry from this. It's action-packed and fueled with heat that'll burn the sheets.
I AM DESPERATE FOR THE NEXT BOOK!
My goodness what a book
This book is all shades of wow. I went in not knowing what to expect but ended up falling hopelessly in love with all the characters except the bad guys of course but the others swoon. I'm officially hooked and can't wait for book 2 to see how it ties up. Hope she makes them beg.
So if you're looking for a something thrilling with alphas and a dash of romance. Then this book should be up your tbr list asap.
Decent story told in the omegaverse. Lilah is a darling of the omega center meaning she’s a ward. Her debts are paid and she’s taken on by the Wyvern pack but it’s not an arrangement any of them start out happy about. Mmfmmm, reverse harem. I thought it was a decent story with good spice. Always enjoy the group scenes best! Very detailed!
So good! Recently I’ve had a bunch from NetGalley that just weren’t for me, but this one was fabulous! My only complaint is that I want more! Can’t wait for the next book!
Before thus book I hadn't read a Reverse Harem book in so long and it had been even longer since I read an Omegaverse book. I am so glad I signed up to request for the ARC because I enjoyed it so damn much!!
The dynamics between Orion and the pack is so cute like they would do absolutely anything for him. But that is mainly because they didn't want a female. Or at least Jett didn't I'm also so glad that the homophobia was reduced to very much minimum. Its so cool to see that a pack will have two omegas instead of the usual one. I can tell btw that it was mainly atlas who loved orion though. Jett is a dick but he clearly just tolerates the situation and Finn Calling Lily his Star 🥺🥺🥺. They're so precious I swear.
I cant believe she was left in heat for three bloody days straight when she couldve died. The dumbasses like what is wrong with you. You have two omegas you shoukdve considered the possibility that the other one could also be in heat. Smh anyway I can't wait for Part two I hope to hell they grovel like hell
Plotwise: 7/10
Characters: 6/10
Book overall : 6/10
The beginning of this was slow, but it ended up surprising me. I guess to start I can talk about the things that people potentially might not like - the FMC/heroine is good at everything. Dancing, fighting, cooking, knowing how to calm strangers, etc. Honestly if you think about it, she's probably good at it. And I saw people talk about how the heroes all are the same, and I understand that. For a reverse harem, it's not so much about the MMC. Or at least about the romance between the six of them. The five men are already in a pack and a relationship with different dynamics, but they're having issues. (Homophobes need not interact, thank you)
They bring her in, and the first book is about how each of the men start interacting with her, with a somewhat slow burn relationship.
The end was sad, and at this point not a HEA so please be warned. I'm not usually interested in groveling, but it better come for book 2.
Holy Shitake Mushrooms!
I was absolutely captivated by this extraordinary storytelling. The author had me hooked on this book from the first chapter. I found this to be a different twist to a werewolf/pack story than what I usually read. I honestly had NO idea 'Omegaverse' was a thing and now I'm sucked in.
This read included many complex characters, witty dialogue with a side of spunk and emotions. Yes, I cried and YES I am screaming while I wait for the next story.
Thank you, NetGalley! I cannot WAIT for the next book (Part Two) to release!
Thank you to Netgalley, Independent Publishers Group and the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Rating: 5 stars
OMG I need the next book immediately!!!!! To be honest I thought I was going to like this book but I was not expecting to fall absolutely in love with it. This is my first Omegaverse book and my first reverse harem book and I was so worried going in that I wasn't going to enjoy those aspects and I fell in love.
I had originally rated this 4.5 stars but since I finished this yesterday I have not stopped thinking about it and I need more books like it. My only critique that I had was that it felt a little weird when I first started reading it but that quickly disappeared once I got about 15-20% into the book.
I cannot praise this book enough I loved it and I cannot wait for the sequel to come out in September.
TW: blood, violence, bullying, murder, attempted murder, abuse, child abuse, sexual assault, attempted rape, guns, knives, drugs, alcohol, slavery (sort of), self harm, eating disorder (sort of)
My review vlog will go out on the 4th of July.
Wow - this book was impossible to put down! I literally stayed up late last night to finish because, even knowing this was only Part 1, I needed to know where we left things.
This world was immediately captivating. Lilah has the last name "Darling" because she is a ward of the omega training facility where she is housed. She's billed for everything and will only be able to leave and be placed with a pack if they can handle all her debt, too. Accepting (and hoping) she never has to join a pack of alphas, she works very hard to fly under the radar and slow her "awakening." While there is a lot of pack and shifter terminology, we don't see any actual shifting or anything like that. This is all human all the time. And, damn, humans are mean.
Lilah has fought her way through her time at the academy and tried not to become the slave to her hormones that happens post-awakening. This has resulted in her being emaciated, scarred, and perpetually exhausted, but her "owner" ends up shipping her off to a pack anyway. This pack has some issues, but is jam-packed with hot alphas. Unfortunately for the drama levels, they also have another omega, meaning she is poaching. There is some wonderful smut, lots of misunderstandings and drama, and this book seriously left me desperate for more. When is Part 2 coming out again? I need more Lilah!
I had no clue an Omegaverse was even a thing when I started reading this, nor did I realize you could have Alphas/Betas/Omegas/Packs and them NOT be shifters...mind blown! I read this book blind, as in, I read the synopsis and got the book weeks before I actually read it so I had no clue what it was going to be about, just that it was next in line. With all of that said, HOLY FREAKING SMOKES!! MMMMMF, knots?, heats, Omega school...all of it was overwhelming, new, slightly disturbing, intriguing, steamy, intense, and such a great read. It is a cliffhanger, which I normally hate, but I felt this one ended in a way I could live with until Part 2 came out. I loved Rock's storytelling style, her character building is out of this world, and her world is alive and vibrant from the opening scene to the end. The pace is pretty quick, with slower parts built-in for intensity, but overall it is an action-packed story and I can't wait to read part 2 and anything else Rock comes out with!
I absolutely loved that story, I was hooked on this book from the first chapter. This was my first experience reading an Omegaverse trope, the sexual tension and the chemistry of the characters are surreal, I loved every moment and it was really exciting, I wish the book was bigger and I can’t wait for a second. By the way the characters development was so well written.
This book was a unique experience for me, simply loved it!
Absolutely extraordinary storytelling!! I was hooked on this book from the first chapter. It was very different to other Omegaverse stories I’ve read and I loved it. Complex characters, great dialogue with a dash of humour and a healthy dose of emotions. I sobbed during a certain scene and the ending had me shouting NOOOOOOOO - I need more from this pack stat!
I loved this one so much I tracked down the author as I had to know when book 2 would be available.
This was my first time reading an Omegaverse trope..
Even though this is set in the human world I found quite a few similarities to paranormal shifter books. (which I love)
This is a reverse harem fated mates romance. The sexual tension and chemistry is off the charts. I'm just sad the book wasn't longer, I didn't want to stop reading. The ending will leave you begging for book two.
Thank you to NetGalley, Ink Monster LLC, and the author for the opportunity to read an ARC of this title.
An honest review was requested but not required.
Frankly I don't have a lot of experience with Omegaverse. I think this is the third, or fourth? Omegaverse novel I've ever read. But this one had the best character development by far of any of this type I've come across. The plot outside the Pack was a little hazy - the pack members are mercenaries? It seemed like they were purportedly "good guys" (I think 'stepping in where the police and military failed' was the phrase) but it seemed like mostly they just assassinated rival mercenary pack members - but the dynamics inside the Pack were dynamite. Lilah is a terrific character that you can't help but feel sorry for; her entire life from childhood to adulthood has been traumatic, painful and neglected. She finally gets a chance to join a pack but they not only don't want her, they already have a mated omega. Even though it's increasingly clear Lilah has a place if they would just open their eyes, not one of the pack members gives her a real chance. All five of them (four male alphas and a male omega) are completely messed up and have such major psychological issues that it's a miracle the pack hadn't internally combusted already. Poor Lilah can't catch a break as she is rejected over and over and OVER again, culminating in a final rejection so harsh and complete she practically attempts suicide to escape. Of course the guys come to their senses, but it seems as though it's too little, too late.
The book ends on something of a cliffhanger and I ADMIT IT, I immediately preordered part 2. I can't wait to see this group of a-holes on their knees groveling.
I recieved an advanced copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Reverse harem and omegaverse have become rising trends in indie/self-published romance in the last few years, and this book combines both in a pretty great example of what they can be.... and there's not a single m/f sex scene in the entire book. (there's two pretty hot m/m scenes though, and I always appreciate swords crossing).
Lilah is a Darling, a ward of the omega boarding academy, required to sign to a pack and pay back all her room and board since she was a child. She'll be assigned to one when she goes into heat, so in order to avoid it, she engages in so much exercise and food restrictions that it shuts her body down. The scenes of her self-loathing and self-abuse are intense, and Lilah's trauma is a massive part of this book. When she's purchased by a pack, one that already has an omega, they treat her like an enemy, hidden in the basement and blocked from pack life. Her entire goal is to escape, to find somewhere she can't be scented or sold as chattel. Because while omegas are considered fairytales, treasured and cossetted members of packs, they can also be trafficked among packs if a pack chooses not to keep them. And Lilah is convinced that's what will happen to her.
I am not a weeper, but Lilah's journey meant I was quietly sniffling through much of this book. I don't know if I'd recommend it to general readers, but if someone wanted to explore RH/omegaverse tropes, this would be a great intro.
Man I love it when you pick up a book on a whim only to find out it is exactly your style of banana pants. Reading the synopsis this book could have been a terrible decision on my part instead I was sucked into Lilah’s story and had so much fun waiting for her pack to pull their heads out of their behinds. I have never read a book like this one but am counting down the days to the sequel.

This was a very compelling book as I was sucked in to every moment. Lilah is such a powerful character. Lola Rock did a masterful job with creating a strong female lead who made you want to hug her during her vulnerable moments to cheering her on during her bad bitch moments. The book is primarily through Lila’s POV but there are chapters from the other pack mates POVs. The world development is interesting but a little lacking. If you have not read shifter books before you might question what it means to be an alpha, beta, or omega. The characters aren’t shifters in the sense that they can change into wolves but they do have an “awakening” where their true roles in a pack is determined based on their scent.
The book does leave off on a sort of cliff-hanger. There’s still some resolution at the end but there is much more to come. The book represents gender and one’s sexuality in a very fluid way. There were some definite steamy moments. I can’t wait to read the next book!
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Pack Darling through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine.
So I’ve never read anything within the omegaverse in fact I only vaguely even know what that is but I saw the cover and it drew me in because I’m a sucker for a nice book cover... sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t... thankfully this worked out...
This book... well... this was just so sad... but soooo good. The second book in a row I read this week where the worst part was that it ended. I’m impatient I hate waiting I need to know what happens next! In the meantime...
The Story...
Here we meet Lilah Darling who has had the absolute worse life. She’s an omega with no family no friends no prospects and no hope. But she is a survivor so she’s done whatever she can to keep herself going and keep herself alive. The life of an omega is supposed to be much different than the one she leads but after a lifetime in her omega school she knows nothing good will be coming her way. So she makes sure she doesn’t go “awaken” she doesn’t try to get attention and she bids her time... too bad the world isn’t content to leave her be. Omega girls are a mean and catty bunch. Though she tries hard to avoid it she’s sent to a pack to be their omega... trouble is they already have one and they don’t want her. But this is what she’s use to... being unwanted and unloved. Ever the survivor Lilah plots her escape from these men who don’t want her in their home... or do that? Tis The complicated thing... they want her but don’t want to do naturally as stubborn alphas they are determined to fight against any attraction or attachment to her. Life with two omegas in the house isn’t easy and there is a bit of danger afoot. All Lilah wants to do is find her own life and be alone and free... fate just seems to be working against her on all sides...
Soooo... didn’t really know what to expect as again not experienced with the omegaverse but I really liked this book I just really wanted to hug Lilah and Orion and pretty much all 4 of the alphas annoyed me to no end. Like they all need therapy... and I feel like a lot of the problems in that house would be solved if any of them actually had conversations. And Craig... eww... how did none of them see that one coming? Annoying alphas and their overbearing fathers aside I just loved Lilah and Orion so much. The other guys had their moments and I would love to see them all work things out. But they clearly don’t deserve Lilah.
And the end... seriously they do not deserve her at all. Lilah is just so filled with awesomeness I can’t even. Sooo I just really want to know what comes next I mean that ending kinda broke me. Can’t poor Lilah ever just catch a break?
