The opening chapter hooked me - esp the line 'from prison warden to head of unruly monks'! (no spoiler alerts - read the book! With the pandemic, political and economic uncertainties - we all need a dose of positivity and strategies to keep sane and happy. Some of the methods in the book feel similar to other self-help books and there were references to the author's other books (which felt a little repetitive). However, it is a good book to help readers be more mindful, and work towards making the best of a bad situation.
This book is great for those who are looking to make a change in their creativity and get rid of negative thinking. The author tests out different exercises that show you how easy some of them can be if you just try. A thought provoking book. The narrator did great. I always prefer my books in audio form. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this in exchange for a review.
I found this book to be a very informative and insightful. I liked the hands on exercises. This book will interest people that are looking for self help without having to pay for a therapist.
The Genius Zone was just what I needed. My mind is stuck in the summer mood and I needed something to boost my motivation. I listen to podcasts often so I really enjoyed listening to this in audiobook format on my commute to and from work. The information was comprehensive enough that I wouldn’t forget it between drives. This was really well written and I think it could benefit many, especially after the pandemic. Get in your Genius Zone and get more creative fulfillment!
