Isla is walking home after her party for her promotion at work. She is attacked but luckily she has a boyfriend Zach that is so caring he moves in with her. He helps her with her home chores, the cooking and cleaning. But is he really caring?
Good psychological book.

3 STARS.

This book was not what I thought it was going to be, and I only rated it 3 stars because there wasn't anything wrong with it, it just wasn't wowing me, and I did (at points) find it really hard to read.

I feel as though The Couple on Maple Drive started off poor and then around the 60% mark everything about it got better.

The atmosphere, for example, was absent for the first section of the book but did pick up later on when things started to get more tense. The same with the intrigue, I wasn't overly interested in the first half but things seemed to explode and it was as if I couldn't get enough of the book, I had to keep reading. I NEEDED to know what was going to happen.

It was the same with the writing, which definitely seemed to pick up around the 60% mark as if the author had come into their own and really started to flourish.

And again, the same with the characters. To start with they were fairly non-descript and I found it hard to even stir up some kind of feeling towards them, but as we got more into the story I did find myself rooting for Isla and Jase.

The plot is the only bit I'm having a hard time deciding how I felt about it, I change from absolutely loving it to thinking it was a complete waste of time...

I did really enjoy the podcast element, I'd not read that in a book before and it really added something new to the story, and I liked how it didn't just focus on Isla's situation, it also spoke about other cases they were investigating.

However, towards the end of the book the plot did get a little unrealistic and a bit just WTF is going on. It felt too far fetched for me.

Overall, it wasn't a bad read and I certainly enjoyed aspects of it. I just felt that some aspects could have been done better.

This story begins with a podcast from 'Christie's Crime Addicts' and was a novel and interesting start. Then we are introduced to Isla who is an avid follower of these podcasts and cosy crime stories. She is recovering from an attack with could have killed her and her boyfriend has moved in with her to help look after her while she recovers. Zach comes across as a rather controlling boyfriend, always checking on her.
As the story develops I got the impression Isla is always on the lookout for a romantic encounter. She is not particularly likeable and neither is her only friend.
The book is easy to read and I did want to know what was going to happen but it was not a compulsive read.
Many thanks to Netgalley/Sam Carrington/Avon Books for a digital copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.

Wow started and finished this in a day. I found it completely captivating and a thoroughly enjoyable and suspenseful thriller.

Isla and Zach are a new couple who met at work. He is the bosses son and she is working hard to progress up the ladder. Isla celebrates a well deserved promotion with a party at work and on the walk home she is brutally attacked and mugged, leaving her in hospital and with no memory of the attack.

The introduction of a local crime fighting podcast into the narrative was really clever and a different twist. Isla tries to cope with what has happened to her and turns to the group for help.

A dark and twisty mystery with excellent writing which I would highly recommend.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

My fourth book by Sam Carrington, I knew I was going to love The Couple on Maple Drive and I was absolutely right! I would have read this in one sitting, such was my keenness to find out what was occurring next but I had to stop for other things. The novel's description is vague so I don't want to reveal anything, but I will say that the author's characterisation is impressive; there were quite a few people to dislike! If you enjoy twisty, slow-burner domestic thrillers this is an excellent choice for you.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Avon Books UK via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

After surviving an attack, leaving a workplace party, Isla is a prisoner in her own house. She can’t remember who followed her that night or if there might be a reason for the attack. Luckily Zach, her boyfriend, is there to help in any way he can.
The claustrophobic feeling came slowly and there was an uneasy feeling the more I read. Great read!

Another amazing book by Sam Carrington

Isla was mugged on the way back from her promotion party, hosted by her friend Nicci. As she recovers at home under the care of her boyfriend Zach, Isla spends her days listening to a true crime podcast, trying to figure out whether she was a random target or someone wanted her dead.

As fragments of her memory of the fateful night and events before that surface, Isla realises her life maybe in danger. Her current boy friend Zach, her ex Lance, and her work colleagues all seem to have a reason to harm Isla.

A tight narration and interesting characters, the book is engaging throughout. Thank you Netgalley and Avon books for the ARC

Isla lives on Maple Drive, she never goes out now after surviving a brutal mugging her boyfriend Zach has moved in to look after her and help her recover. However, things are not as they seem, Isla's has no memory of what happened to her as she had concussion! Slowly her memory begins to come back but she still can't remember the attack, then she tries to think who could have a motive to do this to her. Could it really be someone who she knows maybe one of her work colleagues?
The story also has parts of a crime pod cast within it and they presenters soon find themselves embroiled in trying to help Isla uncover the truth about her attack, the police don't seem to be doing much.
Loved this book, many thanks Net galley for giving me the opportunity to read this I will be recommending it.

This is not what I thought my outcome would result in reading this book as I’ve enjoyed previous books by Sam Carrington.
Alas, this didn’t live up to my initial expectations.

The main bit I loved was the podcast used scenario as that took on another layer which is not common in a lot of books. I have come across a few but limited so I did find this refreshing.

The characters weren’t fleshed out enough for me I just couldn’t relate to either of them.

Isla had been mugged and things happening within the book just made me roll my eyes, can someone be that dim? I mean, it was a very brutal mugging, I’d be left scared. Oh well…..

It was OK, not memorable a part from the ….oh that book.

This is the first book I've read by Sam Carrington and I'm certain that it won't be the last.

The Couple on Maple Drive follows the story of Isla, who has just survived a brutal attack. Her boyfriend, Zach, moves in to help with her recovery but not everything is as it seems.

I felt that the book started a bit slowly but before I knew it, I was totally gripped and once I had reached the most crucial part of the story, I just couldn't put it down. The author has a wonderful way of making you think about what you would do if you found yourself in a similar situation and it is truly disturbing.

The chapters are interspersed with short excerpts from a local crime podcast which plays a vital part in the final story. This adds a really interesting element to the story.

Overally, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for sending me an ARC in return for an honest review.

A book that keeps you in suspense and takes your breath away! You will think you know who the killer is over and over again but you will be wrong each and every time!
I devoured this book in 3 sessions and it’s One of the best books I've read this year.

Have you heard about the couple on Maple Drive?
Isla barely leaves the house after her brutal mugging.
Her boyfriend Zach moved in with her after the attack. To look after her.
But something else has happened now. Right on their doorstep.
I don’t want to say that someone’s out to get her…
I just hope they find out the truth before it’s too late.

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my own honest voluntary review.

Having thoroughly enjoyed Sam Carrington’s previous novel, I was eager to get started on The Couple on Maple Drive. The couple in question are Isla, a young woman with a promising career ahead of her, and her boyfriend Zach, who moves in with her after Isla is brutally mugged by a stranger one night. Although Isla suffers from memory loss, Isla cannot shake off the feeling that she was deliberately attacked. Might listening to true crime podcasts help her recover her memories and to find out who attacked her and why? And are she and Zach really a couple after all?
A thoroughly recommended thriller with a believable heroine and an engaging plot. Thank you to NetGalley and to the publishers for the free ARC provided to me in exchange for this unbiased review.

3.5stars
Thank you to Avon Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Couple on Maple Drive, this is my honest review.

Isla McKenzie gets mugged after which she decides to be confined indoors, refusing to leave her house – her boyfriend as well as her boss’s son Zach agrees to stay with her and look after until she feels better. The attack incident peaks Isla’s interest in true crime podcasts in the hope that she might hear about a similar case/ incident. After Zach heads out to office, that is all Isla does the whole day – listen to true crime podcasts, and one day she starts remembering bits and pieces of what might have happened but she also has 3 suspects including someone she thought was close to her. She approaches Christie’s Crime Addicts and seeks help in figuring out what might have happened – from here on everything kind of starts going at a fast pace.
We also get to hear some bits & pieces of other cases that the podcast teams talk about, and slowly we learn about what happened to Isla on that fateful night.
Good interesting read, but felt it was a bit of force fit in couple of places – but overall this was intriguing.

I was enticed into reading this book due to the name and the cover and it felt like the biggest waste of time ever. I had guessed who had done a few pages in so felt I was just going through the motions in finishing it, it was so obvious and predictable and not in a good way. None of the characters were likeable particularly not Isla who was just so naive and irritating. The big "twist" was really full and by the time I was skim reading just to get it finished as I was just so bored and really couldn't have cared less by that time. Oh and the podcast parts added nothing to the story and were quite off putting in my opinion. So disappointed.

Isla is recovering from a brutal attack which left her hospitalised - she is now home, but off work recovering, & spending her time watching true crime podcasts. Isla is dating the boss's son, Zach, & he moved in with her after the attack to look after her. Gradually Isla begins to remember bits of the attack & what was happening just before, & starts to suspect that her attacker is closer to home than she realised. With the police seemingly uninterested in investigating further than it being a mugging, Isla asks a group who run a locally based true crime podcast to look into her case.

The synopsis to this book looked intriguing, & although it is ok, I felt it was a bit disappointing overall. There were elements that were alluded to but not really followed up (the strange bumping noises she heard, the weird behaviour of the next door neighbours), & the twists I was imagining from these tidbits were actually more complex than the 'twists' in the book. Also I didn't like the main character's attraction to older man, Jase, I thought it was distracting from the main plot - she was supposedly frightened for her life yet musing if a guy was attracted to her?! Underwhelming is the feeling I get from the book unfortunately.

My thanks to NetGalley & publishers, Avon Books UK, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

The plot gripped me the whole way through. Isla has a party to celebrate her promotion but is mugged on the way home. The boyfriend of a few months moves in and appears to be kind and caring. As the plot develops there is more than meets the eye. The plot kept me guessing and there were some aspects that were a little unbelievable. However overlooking these I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Thanks for ARC from Netgalley.
