This is an absolute gem of a book. The pictures are beautifully done. The facts are all very interesting, and there's. good variety of animals in this book. It shows how different animals sizes are viewed differently from various perspectives. While you can actually learn a whole lot from this book, the facts are all fun enough to keep any child interested. I haven't read anymore in this series, but these seem like the perfect educational took for many young children.
'Super animals: the largest' is an awesome book to teach kids about animals. My favorite animals included in this book were the giraffe & elephant. This books teaches many facts about each animal and would be a great companion when preparing for a zoo trip.
Lovely earth toned illustrations embrace Raine Olliver’s Super Animals: The Largest. Throughout the book, we take a look at nine different animals who are all, in their own way, the largest. Young children will learn interesting animal facts about the giraffe, Komodo dragon, African elephant, colossal squid, moose, blue whale, ostrich, Galapagos tortoise, and hippopotamus. The first person narrative of each animal brings a bit of novelty to the book, appreciated by the young and young at heart. The formatting remains consistent throughout, and facts are broken down into manageable sections with less text, making it more manageable for early readers.
I got this on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!
I really enjoyed this one! Love the illustrations, and I really like that it includes a lot of different types of animals! Like, it doesn't limit it to just one category, but to several different ones and that's great! I also feel like it comes up with a whole lot of interesting facts that keep both adults and kids interested! Would definitely recommend checking out the other books in the series as well!
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Super Animals: The Largest, is a fantastic non fiction factual book for children about the largest animals on the planet on land and in the sea.
Each animal is beautifully illustrated and has numerous facts and pieces of information told about them in an interesting and fun way that children will love reading about!
Even I as an adult have learnt some new things about these amazing animals that I didn't know before!
This is a great book for animal lovers or fact finders alike.
This is a lovely book for children age 5 and up, best read with an adult, as some of the words may be too difficult for them. I loved the otherwise simple sentences and the beautiful pictures of the the largest animals, from the giraffe to the whale, ostrich, galapagos tortoise or colossal squid, not all animals equally well known to children and adults. The only point I criticizes is (besides some difficult terms) that lenght, weight, speed etc. are sometimes but not always presented in metric and other system.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an arc ebook in exchange for an honest review.
This seems like a perfect children’s book the child who loves animals, especially animals that most of us only can see in the zoo.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the e-arc I received.
Beautiful illustrations to this wonderful book about the largest species of animals on earth. The book gives a brief introduction into their lives, habitats and predators. The majestic animals are the giraffe, komodo dragon, African elephant, colossal squid, moose, blue whale, ostrich, Galápagos tortoise and my favorite the hippopotamus! I highly recommend this book for kids of all ages. Thanks to #netgalley for the advanced reader copy! I loved it!
Super Animals. The Largest is a great children's book packed full of fascinating information. Adults will enjoy reading along too. I found tidbits I've never known which made me want to learn more. A book for the whole family to enjoy.
I received an arc for an honest review. This is a lovely books for young kids. The illustrations are very cute and enjoyable for kids.
There are 9 different types of animals and all sorts of fun facts are provided about them. The largesse comes not only from their size but also their limbs. For example, the African elephant has large ears and huge tusks, both male and female. It's also lovely to know that the galapagos tortoise is one of the largest tortoises. There are size comparisons and diet and lots of other diverting facts for tiny humans.
This team is back again with the 3rd installment of this Super Animals series and once again knocks it out of the park. I love learning about animals in these books with their fun facts and truly special illustrations.
My kids loved this book! There are beautiful illustrations of large animals with many fun facts associated with the animals shown and listed. Very fun children's book!
This book illustrates and explains several animals that are considered "the largest" with fun riddles, super clear diagrams, and concise sentences. I think kids would love this, because who doesn't love learning all about huge animals?! I love the illustrations- the direct comparison with the size of a human being, the maps to show the habitats, close-ups to different body parts, the types of food, and the pictures of cute baby animals. Would definitely get a copy for my classroom!
Review to come August 11th to blog and September on Goodreads/etc..
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
I just cannot resist books about animals! And this one just looked so much fun and I was curious to see what kind of big animals we would meet. Would we go up in height? Or in length? Or something else like weight?
It is a combination of everything! Plus more! Because an animal can be big in many ways. Most of the animals are big and large, but they also have other parts that are big/large/huge. Like the elephant with huge tusks, or the giraffe with very tall legs. I loved that it was a combination of things.
I loved the variety in the animals. From giraffes to whales to colossal squids! I loved that we didn't just get land animals, but got sea animals as well. I do think I would have loved some flying animals as well! I know there are some very big birds flying around the world.
Each animal gets 6 pages. The first two is a beautiful big illustration of the animal along with an introduction and the other 4 pages are about the animal. About what it eats, what it does when in danger, and a lot more fun information. I knew a lot of details already but still I learned some very fun new facts!
The illustrations are just gorgeous, the details are fantastic and it looks like the animals will just pop out of the pages for a cup of tea (or a leaf or two).
Definitely would recommend this fun and beautiful book to all animal lovers!
What an amazing book! I was able to read an advanced copy ( Releasing on August 10th). This book is so beautifully illustrated and it has something for so many ages! I originally requested a review copy thinking that my granddaughter would love me to read it with her and she does but, I even learned something! My oldest granddaughter is 3 and although some of the information is too technical for her right now, she will grow into wanting wanting to learn more each time we read it. It's a book that will grow with your child! Is between the beautiful illustrations and the statistical information such as height and weight of the animal, what its skin or coat looks like, where it lives and what it eats, how much it eats, sleeps, and drinks, Who and how it defends itself, This book truly has something for everyone- Smaller child to adult 🙂
Love this book, it’s perfect for my toddlers! They’re fascinated with animals and about what they eat and how they hunt. The pictures are colorful, the information is easy for them to understand, and I enjoyed it as well. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a gifted copy. This is my honest review.
My 5yo and I picked this one out because, of course, who doesn't want to read about the largest animals! The illustrations were lovely, and each page, though filled with information, was pleasant to the eye. It had quite a bit of statistical information that my 5yo doesn't comprehend yet (how longs things are, how tall, how much they weigh etc), but I liked how the book still showed a graphical depiction of the animal's size, where it lives, what it eats, and what eats it. (The stuff my 5yo really cares about.) It had some facts that were new to me and also included the komodo dragon and the colossal squid, two animals I feel we don't usually see in these kinds of nonfiction kids books.
Overall, my 5yo said he liked it, and his favorite part was the colossal squid. I also enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone with little kids wanting to learn about really big animals in our world!
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the free ARC!
I loved this so much! The artwork is wonderful, the little facts about the different animals, the little description at the beginning, everything was absolutely great! I would have loved to have this book as a child.
I think the best part about this is, that even though it’s directed towards children, I think teenagers and adults would still be interested.
Another thing, I never read a book about animals quite like this, I’m surprised in a good way.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."
This had a great variety of "large" animals. It was factual and engaging. I loved the gorgeous artwork!
As noted: This is the third book in the Super Animals series, beautifully illustrated nonfiction about special animals. For little biologists ages 5 years up.
This could be a collection book or an education book. I love this! I work with kids and my kids would love this book. I would not even think twice about adding this book to your collection. The illustrations in this book are amazing. There are fun facts, size, habitats, food, and more. This book is very well done and you can tell a lot of time was put into this book. I love it.
