I have seen the first book in the series circulating over the internet but never got to it, now I will be reading both, ASAP! My favorite part about this book was the food....how delicious did everything sound? I also love the promise of reconciliation between Daniel and Preeti, and am hopeful that we get a glimpse into her professional life as well.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with this preview in exchange for my honest feedback.
This book preview really left me with need for more!
I haven't read anything by the author before, but the cover did me in and I was so curious to get a little peek to what's to come when the book is finally out. I really loved the short preview story and I cannot wait to find out more about everything else. It not only has love, but also frienship and family so September cannot come faster!
I LOVE when a story really grips you from the outset! I cannot wait to read the rest of this awesome story of love, family, and friendships!!
From this short preview I'm already a huge fan of the writing and the engaging story.
I am so so excited for this book. I can not wait until September. Loved the first four chapters!!!!!
This book has some of my favorite tropes and I'm very excited by the concept. Forced separation AND forced proximity?? The angst and mutual pining here is going to be so delicious and I'm interested in how they'll be able to overcome the hurdles. However, I didn't really like the writing style. It seemed very choppy and jumped all over the place. I guess it seemed realistic because my thoughts are kinda all over the place too, but reading it on paper makes it seem very incoherent and hard to keep up with. Hopefully as the book proceeds, the writing will smooth out more.
I really enjoyed The Trouble with Hating You, so I’m looking forward to this book coming out. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing this preview!
Oh my goodness, this sampler was beyond cute! I love love love second chance romances so I am excited to see what will happen with Preeti and Daniel. The first few chapters were just the right pace to get into the story and know what you’re going to get, it kept me interested and wanting to know more. I already have it preordered!
Loved this! I really liked these characters and the situations they find themselves in. The pull of pleasing family is such a struggle, so seeing Preeti pulled between both her parents' wishes and Daniel's parents' wishes, plus her aunties, plus her friends. I really don't know how she deals with the pressure of all that on top of becoming a doctor. I am really looking forward to what happens next! Oh, and now I also have to go back and read The Trouble with Hating You, which fortunately I had the foresight to buy in the last year. Thanks for the preview!
AHHHHH listen, I love Trouble With Hating You, but can I just say, who doesn't love a 1 bed trope for an entire book?!? From the excerpt that I've read, I absolutely CANNOT WAIT to finish reading this one!!!!
The main thing I like about First Love, Take Two is that it dives right into the action of the story. There isn't a long and drawn out beginning. In the first four chapters, Sajni Patel manages to take the reader right to root of the plot: ex-lovers Preeti and Daniel are soon-to-be-roommates after being apart for six years. And by the end of the fourth chapter, I was left wondering "Now how is this going to go?".
Going into the book, I didn't realize that characters from The Trouble With Hating You--which I have not read yet--would carry over, so I think I'll go back and read that one. I think the reader will still be able to fill in the blanks if they don't read the first one, but for me personally, I think it'll better clarify some of the things that were mentioned in the first four chapters. Other than that, I liked this preview and can't wait to read more about Preeti and Daniel's roommate situation.
Sending a big thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this preview.
Although this was just a small preview of the book, I really enjoyed it! This took me a bit to get into but by the last chapter of the preview (chapter4) I was hooked. I'm not normally a huge fan of second chance romance but this one really seems like it will be great. The forced proximity seems like it will be pretty fun and entertaining.
It did feel as though there was quite a bit of info dump at the start though and a lot of characters introduced right of the bat that it did get a bit confusing.
Overall, I'm super excited for this release and will definitely be reading it!
I need more than the first 4 CHAPTERS!! Sajni Patel's First Love, Take Two is a classic story about two people very much in love who have been torn apart by family drama and cultural expectations. 6 years later they have started to make their way back to eachother by having to share an apartment together for a short time. What will happen? I can't wait to find out if Reema and Daniel find their way back to eachother again. Thank you Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is a multicultural second chance romance with the roommate trope and the first few chapters look very promising and keep you intrigued!
Reading these chapters just made the time fly by. Some parts made me laugh out loud. The main heroine captures your attention and build up to the second chance romance is just phenomenal. I’ve also loved how the author deals with the representation of interracial couples.
Overall, I think I will definitely pick up this book when the full version will be out.
After reading chapter one, I was very intrigued by what could happen in the later chapters, However, I feel as though the sentence structuring (or maybe it was just the kindle layout) made the paragraphs choppy and hard to read. The prose seemed to be jumpy and feel skittish. That all changed during the next three chapters. The story really develops, the anticipation of meeting Daniel is what kept me turning the pages. The relationship with her friends is also interesting and caused me to want to read their stories too. Adding to the factor of likeness for the series.
Preeti is a character that feels very relatable when it comes to anxiety and touch aversion. The book has a high potential to blow up on the Tiktok platform. With its style of writing, I had to get used to it at first. However, as you continue to read, the pacing builds the anticipation of what will happen between Daniel and Preeti.
I recommend that this book can be paired with people who like "The Marriage Game" "The Dating Plan" "Kiss Quotient" and "Get a Life Chloe Brown"
I flew through this chapter sampler of First Love, Take Two! In only four chapters, Patel does an incredible job of building tension and yearning between Preeti and Daniel. I’m already intrigued by the set-up and excited to see how Daniel and Preeti living together will go. It’s clear they have a complex history and serious chemistry. Preeti deals with anxiety and touch aversion in the sampler and I’m looking forward to seeing how this is explored. I will absolutely be following up with this book in the fall! First Love, Take Two releases September 21, 2021. Thank you so much to Sajni Patel, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), and Netgalley for a free chapter sampler in exchange for honest feedback.
Even though this is just a preview of the book, it's enough to know that it will be a great one. I love the medical slang and the second chance aspect is going to serve amazingly. I can't wait to be able to read the entire book. <3
My first impression of First Love, Take Two is that it seems to include a lot of doctor lingo. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but it might not always come across. We also notice right away that our main character has Indian heritage and we can sadly plan to see her experiences with racism.
I really love that this is a second chance romance with a touch of enemies to lovers because of the way their relationship ended in the past. Our main characters' also get to be roommates while they work out how they feel about each other which is such a fun scenario to read about in a romance.
Preti and Daniel seem to have a lot of sexual tension mixed with adorable awkwardness which is the perfect recipe for a great romance in my opinion. I hadn't heard about First Love, Take Two until I saw the sneak peek but Sanji Patel's writing quickly won me over and I cannot wait to read the finished copy
As this is only a preview of a completed book, I can only judge based on what I've read thus far.
I enjoyed the opening (um... polyps and raspberries!) and it had me laughing at the start. However, as I progressed through the first few chapters, I found that I was a little overwhelmed and trying to make sense of what was going on. It felt very much like an info dump and that I was being told rather than shown. Some of the parts seemed a bit choppy and that I was missing key information to help establish why things were happening (like why the dinner invite?). Perhaps this comes from me not having read the previous book in the series so I don't have a knowledge base of the characters and the 'world' they exist within.
I loved that the MC is a soon-to-be doctor and I love the forced proximity/one-bed trope. I also enjoyed getting to be told some of the conflicts at the start - though I wonder if that takes away from potential tensions later as the reader already knows what the problem is?
Overall, I think this would be a book I'd be tempted to try full length, just perhaps I need to read the previous book first :)
From the very first word, you will be SUCKED into this story. I need more of this novel! Patel paints and clear and vibrant picture. I read Patel’s other novel The Trouble with Hating You and was underwhelmed with the love story, already in these 4 short chapters, I can tell this one is better. Forced proximity romance second chance romance? Sign me up, I need to see what’s next in this love story.
Another preview that has me absolutely chomping at the bit for more more MORE! I'm such a fan.
I love a leading lady with ambition and drive and so Preeti was just someone I felt totally drawn to. She was smart and just delightful. I loved the author's sensitive but very realistic portrayel of interracial couples and their dynamics, including the parts that are hard to talk about. I also really enjoyed the creative user of the forced proximity trope which is one of my favourites, but one that can write easily feel well, forced! In this book I didn't get the sense that it's going to feel that way as things progress. The relationships felt natural and well realized, and the characters didn't feel cheesy or underdeveloped.
Overall I think this preview will really draws people to pick up a copy, myself included!
Thank you for this preview, NetGalley, Grand Central Publishing, and Forever!
