Home Sweet Home is a story that starts off with a bang, literally, when one of the neighbors hears gunshots coming from Katherine and John's house. Gladys tells her to take her baby and go back inside. The story then jumps back in time about 8 hours prior when Logan tries to deliver a package to the home and Katherine tells him that she cannot come out of the house to sign for the package. Logan is confused and a little frustrated why someone would not come outside. Gladys, Katherine's next door neighbor, notices all the blinds in the house drawn and thinks that something could be wrong. However, her husband Lou knows that Gladys is generally just the neighbor busybody and tells her to leave it alone. We also get the perspective of Katherine and an unknow person that tells us there is definitely something bad going on in the home. Things are not okay at Katherine and John's house, and we slowly are given clues about who is there and what exactly is happening to the family.

The 4 POV's jump around a bit giving us perspective into each of the characters. Some of these really dragged out the book and I found myself skimming over them and bored. They distracted me from the action going on currently and I wanted to know who was in the house and why. There are some twists that I didn't expect and the author does a great job of pulling everything together at the end.

If you've read the author's previous book The Boy in the Photo, you will see similarities to the same type of family drama, which makes me wonder if this is a theme in all her books. Overall, a good thriller with a lot of family/neighbor drama.

This is a truly exquisite novel. Set in Australia, we meet Katherine and her five-year old twins, Sophie and George, Gladys the nosy neighbour and Logan the delivery driver. The story is told through different perspectives. Following gun shots, the Police are in attendance at suburban Hogarth Street and from there we are taken back to seven hours before, to find out what brought them to such a dark place.

There’s an immediate hook that gets you turning the pages wanting to know more. With wonderful velvety characters, all with their own demons, they are all, in their own ways, trying their best to conceal and live with their flaws which is the perfect recipe for an exciting unputdownable novel.

The character I completely fell in love with was most definitely Logan. With his deeply blemished character and his chequered past, he’s desperately trying to put his wrong-doings in the past thanks to the love of his wife Debbie. The fact that despite putting himself in the eye of the storm, he comes across as such a decent and kind guy that I was desperately rooting for him.

In fact, every single character leaps from the pages fully encapsulating this psychological novel with the fear mounting wonderfully as the book reaches its climax.

But the twist, I did not see coming. It was brilliantly executed and it made me delve deep to think about how I hadn’t seen it coming with a sense of satisfaction and a nod to the author for twisting it so brilliantly.

This is a heart-warming story delving into the unconditional love of a mother for her children, to want to protect them in every way possible even at great risk to herself.

I thoroughly recommend.

Thank you Nicole, Bookouture and NetGalley for the digital arc of Home Sweet Home. This book utterly blew my mind.

The beginning hooked me immediately. I started thinking, "Wait, what happened? Someone tell me!" It was as if I was present there with the characters. As I read on, the narration gripped me. I thought I knew where the plot was heading, but I was wrong. The twist shocked me and I was like, "Who is it then?!"

I like the way Nicole has structured the storyline. She has woven the scenes intricately that will confuse the readers and keep them guessing like it did to me. However, this fiction is, surely, not for the faint of heart who cannot endure reading disturbing events.

Many emotions surfaced while reading. I felt with the characters like they felt in the frantic helpless moments. Each character is profiled delicately. Their difficult situations are explicitly captured. From the first page till the last, the suspense glued me. I finished reading in two days. After all, I had to know about Katherine!

Engrossing, suspenseful and chilling, this psychological thriller is mind-bending. Definitely, a must read. I will, surely, recommend this book.

💥 This book actually surprised me at the end, it took a very dark turn!

The commentary made in the book is highly appreciated: don't judge people just because they're all tattooed. Nobody really knows what's going on behind closed doors. Follow your instincts. 👆

The book is basically a rundown of the events leading to the shooting at a house in a suburban neighborhood, and you get multiple points of view, including the perpetrator and the victims.

I have to say that it felt quite repetitive at many parts and that's a lot to say for a short book, however when everything was revealed and the dots connected it was very satisfying 😌

Please be aware of some trigger warnings for child abuse, domestic abuse, very graphic in that sense. That is something I would have appreciated knowing getting into the book 😶

I would recommend this book if you like multiple POVs, domestic thrillers, not really knowing what's going to be surprised at the end. With all that said, it was an entertaining read.

Sometimes, the most perfect families are hiding the most terrible secrets. How well do you know the people next door…
This was a heart-breaking, wild book. I LOVE Home Sweet Home. Plenty of suspense to keep you turning the page. This Isonebook you will enjoy and not want to stop until you know. Not one you can put down for long.. I ended and just felt this neighborhood was one I would bolt my doors as well.

Home Sweet Home by Nicole Trope

I was so happy to get my hands on the latest book by Nicole Trope, I can’t thank Bookouture and Net Galley enough for this privilege.

I Loved this book! It only took a few chapters to get me hooked and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat until the last page.

The book starts with gunshots been heard from a neighbour’s house and we go back six hours to see what transpired to lead to them.

This book is written from four points of view; Katherine, who is held at gunpoint with her twins, Gladys, the nosy but caring neighbour, Logan the delivery man and the person holding the family at gunpoint.

All the Characters are wonderful and I easily related with them. I loved the drama and suspense when the story was taking place in real time.

I could not recommend this book enough, please read it you will not be disappointed

Logan feels something is off when he tries to deliver a package. Logan, however, is an ex-con and most people, including his boss and brother in law don't believe him. His only support is his beautiful wife who loves him in spite of his mistakes and his adoring sister whom he is sworn to protect. Next door an older woman caring for her husband also senses something is off. Despite her best efforts and a few clues that all is not right next door she just can't take the step that might get the police to check. This book, full of twists turns, and with a surprise ending is an entertaining suspenseful book with a twist at the end. Are Logan's senses really in tune with what is going on? Is the elderly nosey neighbor imagining issues that are not there? "Home Sweet Home" is where you will find the answers. Thanks to #HomeSweetHome#NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Oh this was a cheeky little surprise! I had requested it based on the blurb of some secretive neighbourhood domestic thriller - and whilst the blurb is slightly misleading I didn’t care as from the second page I was absolutely hooked!!
Told by many POV and over a 7 hour period leading up to the first chapter, I was totally engrossed! I felt every thrilling twist and every chilling development as if I was there! So clever I really didn’t see the twist coming! It was so brilliant it didn’t even need the twist, but it elevated it to another level of brilliance! Such an easy read too!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.

Its the hottest day of the year but Katherine’s curtains are closed and there is no sign of the twins , who should be at school. Gladys the neighbor is worried about the family next door as all is not as it should be. Then Logan the delivery driver turns up with a parcel a new computer for Katherine and for some reason he senses all is not well inside this closed up house. What is going on .So begins the story of violence and despair both inside and outside the house over the period of the day.

This story will have you on the edge of your seat. There is graphic violence inflicted on both the mother and the children but by whom ? .

This is a well written book and one can sense the palpable panic and despair by all the characters , I could not put this book down .5 stars

This story is the epitome of a gripping, suspenseful thriller. I spent the whole book rooting for all the great characters and hoping that everyone was going to be okay at the end. Whenever I had to stop reading I couldn’t wait to get back to it! I look forward to reading more books by this author.

4.5 stars

Such a thrilling read and one of my favorites this year.

This story exemplifies how life can change in an instant. And the reader may find that just when they think they have it figured out, they find out they don't. This book is well-plotted with ample twists and turns and solid character development. I haven't read many books set in Australia, so I enjoyed that, as well. This was a page turner, and I look forward to reading other books by Trope in the future!

Eek! What a terrifyingly tense book this was. It began with a bang, letting me know that danger was imminent, but successfully keeping the mystery cloaked until the right time.

Everything happens in a few hours so the the book had a real-time feel to it. There are four main character perspectives. Logan, Gladys, Katherine and the perpetrator. Gladys came with her own heartbreaking story. Logan came with baggage and inquisitiveness. The chapters written from the perpetrators perspective were totally terrifying and as for Katherine... no parent should ever be in her position.

I very much enjoyed the reveals near the end and they left me thinking. If you love a thriller with deep psychological aspects and bags of immediate danger to keep you biting your nails, then ‘Home Sweet Home’ is what you’re looking for!

Hogarth Street is a type of street that anyone would want to live in--tree lined avenue with white colored houses. A new family named Wests is living in one of those houses with their five year old twins. Despite the fact that they seemed to be a happy family, they seem to be hiding a deep secret, a secret that will change the lives living in Hogarth Street.

The story is told from the perspectives of Katharine, the wife, Gladys, the next door neighbor and Logan who seemed to be delivering posts around the neighborhood. While reading the novel, initially, my thought was, the story was direct and predictable. To my utter surprise...I was wrong! It was completely twisted, unexpected thriller with an unexpected ending that for a moment, I have to think...what did I just read!! Kudos to the author's writing that kept the reader intrigued till the end of the story. The ending completely blew my mind away. The characters were all great--the situation seemed realistic to me but nonetheless I enjoyed reading this book! Can't wait to read more from this author!

Overall, this book will not disappoint you--worth five stars in my opinion! Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

In a bit of a reading slump? Needing a book to get you reading again? This is your book. It had me binge reading! That old saying 'you don't know what goes on behind close doors' couldn't be more relevant in this novel.

A ex criminal trying to make a clean start. A busy body neighbour who knows all the comings and goings of her neighbours to the point that she notices something is off and questions if she should listen to her intuition and follow this up or put it down to her being nosy (as her husband refers to her) and leave things alone and stay out of other people's business.

There are so many twists and turns in this book. It is also a timely insight into domestic violence and the intricacies of human relationships.

What would you do? Speak up or sit back and pretend it isn't your business?

This book is a thriller that will have you hooked from the first chapter. I will say, I did think the ending was a little too neatly wrapped up, but I still give it 5 stars!

In a quiet little suburb, where the worst thing that typically happens is the busybodying of a nosy old neighbor, a man holds his family members hostage at gunpoint. Told from multiple points of view, Home Sweet Home is a harrowing thriller with a wild twist at the end.

I enjoyed the plot, and the fact that the scenario and characters were so easy to envision. Nothing was overdramatized and I didn't have to suspend belief. I do feel that some of the backstories of characters were a little long, however, and some of the side characters (Debbie, Maddy) were hard to keep track of. Overall, Home Sweet Home was a worthwhile read.

Note: I received a free ebook copy of Home Sweet Home from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to the publishers at Bookouture and Netgalley for this e-ARC of Home Sweet Home.

In a quiet neighborhood in Australia lives a family of four, Katherine, her husband, John, and their five year old twins, Sophie and George. Life is pretty carefree for them, but one day, everything seems a bit off. Sensing something is wrong, her neighbor keeps her eyes and ears out for anything suspicious while a delivery driver gets a nagging feeling that something is amiss when he tries and fails to deliver a package. Told from alternating viewpoints, Logan, Gladys, an unknown voice, and Katherine, life in this upscale neighborhood is about to change, for the better or for the worst.

I really loved the alternating points of view. It helped bring the story to its final conclusion and really added to the overall suspense!

Home Sweet Home releases August 6th!

Nicole Trope has quickly become one of my favorite authors since reading my first book of hers last year. I look forward to every one and so far, I have not been disappointed! All of the characters are well described and you can practically feel the air and see the scenery as she tells the story. The thrillers always have something deeper, an extra twist or detail included that makes the book even better. I cannot wait for the next book!

Wow, what an intense thriller ! Edge of your seat story that you won’t be able to put down. The storyline covers one day in a beautiful neighbourhood as told through the eyes of four people. The author had me at the first chapter and I stayed up late to finish the book. Switching from one character to the other kept the story fresh and exciting. The author seamlessly wove the individual storylines together to create an exciting book. I really enjoyed the characters and their back stories which helped add to the book. I enjoyed the twists, not knowing for sure who was who. I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more books by this author. I may have found myself a new favourite author.

I would like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
