I really loved this book in a new to my series and author. I can't wait to read the next one. The characters and location really add to the plot. This book keeps you guessing until the end
There's been a murder in town and local resident, Cole West is the main suspect. After all, he has quite the history with the deceased.
Fun and fast-paced cozy mystery. There's lots of twists and turns and red herrings. It does require some suspension of belief but it's a cozy so we do that anyway.
This is book six, but the first I've read and I had no trouble keeping up. The author does a good job of not making readers feel lost.
A delightful cozy mystery that will keep you guessing until the end. In book 6 of this series, Sunny Meadows leads readers on a roller coaster of twists and turns that will have you guessing until the end. It's hard not to fall in love with the characters, the setting, and the storyline. It starts out slow, more like a beach read romance than a cozy mystery but picks up steam and will have you locked in until the end.
I received an eARC of Hazard in the Horoscope by Kari Lee Townsend from Oliver Herber Books and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
4 stars! This is book six in the Sunny Meadows cozy mystery series but can be read as a standalone. The characters are quirky and likable. A fun read with no shortage of humorous antics.
Sunny Meadows is a psychic medium living in a small town in Upstate New York. She uses different divination practices to channel her visions and this book focuses on Astrology. She also works as a police consultant and alongside her skeptic fiance Detective Mitch Stone. She lives in an old Victorian with my personal favorite character in the series, a very special cat named Morty.
This mystery surrounds the death of the head of a motorcycle gang who has connections to Cole, the husband of Sunny's best friend. Cole becomes suspect number one and Sunny and Mitch have to figure out the truth before his wife gives birth to their twins and more lives are threatened.
I adore this series!
Princess Fuzzypants here: Opposites do attract and Sunny and her fiancé Mitch prove the point. He has come to accept that Sunny has psychic abilities and her cat’s behaviour is inexplicable but he still wants to control just how involved she gets in his murder cases. Oddly, for a cozy, his bosses at the cop shop and in town, are more amenable than he is to call upon her talents. And Sunny will need all the talents she can muster to solve a murder that involves one of their best friends.
There is plenty going on in town with a big winter festival and the refurbishment and opening of the inn Sunny”s mother has bought in her retirement. There are lots of moving wheels and as we all know moving wheels can be dangerous, especially when there are biker gangs and bent police officers in the mix. They know they must follow the evidence but neither Sunny nor Mitch are willing to let their friend go down for a crime he did not commit.
Good characters entice you to become invested. Lots of twists and turns keep you guessing throughout the story. I also enjoyed how nuggets of horoscope bit and pieces were woven in. It was interesting without being too much. Pretty much like all of the story. Five purrs and two paws up.
Hazard in the Horoscope is a cozy mystery. It's an easy read, enjoyable but without all the excitement of a mystery thriller.
This is a light hearted cozy mystery that has everything you want for a quick, humorous weekend read.
Likable characters, picturesque descriptions of situations, locations and food. Good ending that ties up most of your questions!
Glad this was a stand-alone mystery, as I haven't read the others in the series, but after reading this one, I'm interested in the backstory of Sunny and the other characters. Well written mystery with some extras to keep it interesting.
I received an advance copy of, Hazard in the Horoscope, by Kari Lee Townsend. This is the 6th book in the series. This is a cute murder mystery. I really liked the characters.
Hazard in the Horoscope is book six in the Sunny Meadows cozy mystery series and it was worth waiting for.
While Sunny's mother is working hard to get their inn open, her father is playing hard setting up the outside games and crossing things off his bucket list, and granny Gert is busy at work in the kitchen preparing meals with their 99 years old cook. If you don't laugh at their antics your funny bone is broken. When Cole is accused of murder, police detective Mitch and his psychic fiance Sunny work hard to solve the murder before Cole's wife (and Sunny's best friend) ends up in prison.
This mystery is very well crafted and the author also throws in more mysteries a!omg the way to keep the reader interested. I like the characters because they are small town quirky and there is a bit of psychic ability.
This book is a stand-alone mystery, but the back story of how Sunny got to Divinity, met Mitch, Morty the psychic cat who came with the house, why her overachiever parents ended up following Sunny to Divinity, and the rest of the repeating characters is so much fun.
Enjoy!
I received this book for free for an honest review from netgalley #netgalley
I brought the whole series and love this series with the main character being so crazy and real. Magic cozy at its best.
Cute! Fun enjoyable! Lively! All words that fit Hazard in the Horoscope. Quirky characters and a storyline that keeps you guessing. This cozy won’t disappoint.
This was a fun read, though I gotta admit, I did not expect the ending, overall it was fun, but yeah I wish there was more in the end, and the end felt so quickly wrapped up that I'm gonna go with 3.5 stars.
This was such a cute mystery book. I loved all the characters, especially Morty, I need a Morty in my life. This was the 6th book in the series but since it gives a lot of back information it can totally be read as a standalone. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Sunny and Mitch and the rest of the gang.
Sunny Meadows is an astrologist and also consults with the local police department as needed. She and her cat Morty live with her police detective fiancé and life is good.
When the head of a motorcycle gang with ties to her best friend’s husband is killed in town and Cole becomes the prime suspect, Sunny and Mitch are on the case. Now Sunny has to balance astrology, police consulting, her cat, her man and her mother, who is opening an Inn after a remodel. Can Mitch and Sunny find the killer before Cole is sent to the big house before his wife gives birth to their twins? Even her charts won’t tell Sunny that, but she’s up for the challenge.
The sixth book in this series, it is the first I have read by the author and I was really glad I read it. it’s right up my alley and I absolutely adore Morty! I’ll be reading the first five books in the series to catch myself up, it’s that good!
This book can be read without having read the previous ones in the series. I really like that because it's the first one for me. After reading this I definitely will go back and read the others! A quick fun read. The characters are engaging. Glad I got this book and can now add an aurhor to my favorite list.
This is a cute, fun quick read. I really enjoyed the characters and mystery elements. I did feel surprised by the ending which was a nice change. This works well as a stand alone, which is great because I was worried having not read others in the series. There are parts that are slow moving but there was enough to keep me questioning until the end.
I enjoyed this book. I thought it was a little slow in spots but otherwise it is well paced. I liked the characters. I was surprised by the ending, who the killer was. #HazardintheHoroscope #NetGalley
I just love paranormal cozies, and I am on a quest to find new authors of such. This was one. One of the first things I noticed about this book was that even though I hadn’t read the other books in the series, I had no problems understanding and enjoying the book. I really liked getting to know Sunny, Mitch, Jo, and everyone else. While the mystery was maybe a little too convoluted, it was a great mystery, too. I’d like to see Sunny use her skills more in aiding the investigations, but that’s just a minor point. I think I’ve found another series to love. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
