What a great wrap-up on an awesome trilogy! Although I was disappointed in how much page time some characters got, I really do think there's room for novellas and spinoffs, and I hope Martineau explores this world again!

3/5 Stars

Another situation of " I didn't know this was part of a series". I did stop reading this about 40% into the book but not because it was bad. In fact, I really enjoyed reading what I did in this book. I really enjoyed the writing and the characters, I was liking the plot and where I thought it was going. I was liking it so much that I went out and bought the first two books, A happy accident. Overall I would recommend giving this book a read but maybe start with the first book if you haven't already.

Review:
I did not get a chance to read the first two installments before having access to this one, but most of the reivews scream that this series needs more hype! I will definitly try to get into it once this semester is over and will update my review accordingly!
Summary:
Dark magic, mythical beasts, undying assassins, and forbidden love—this thrilling final installment in the epic Beast Charmer series is perfect for fans of Jennifer Armentrout, Sarah J Maas and Claire Legrand

When Leena Edenfrell swore herself to the Frozen Prince, Noc Feyreigner, she never dreamed she'd ignite the flames of war. And yet as their enemies combine forces against them, Leena and Noc have no choice but to gather their allies and fight. While Noc makes moves to reclaim their lost throne, Leena acts as the new Crown of the Charmer's Council, searching for a way to stop the enemy from raising an ancient creature destined to burn their world to ash.

But no matter how hard they fight—for each other, for their friends, and for everyone who looks to them to lead—Leena can't escape the feeling that her time is running out.

Soon a winged shadow reigns over Lendria, and Leena is the last thing standing between everyone she loves and total destruction. It's in that moment that Noc and Leena discover the true price of victory: in order to tame the ancient dragon, Leena will have to sacrifice her own heart...and lose herself in the process.

I struggled to get into this one and remain focused for any length of time. The problem is that its such a plot focused book that it never really delves that far into the characters themselves or their motivations. Everything seemed like it was being glossed over and this made it difficult to get fully invested.

Ever since Sourcebooks sent me a copy of the first book I’ve been anxiously waiting for each book to come out. I will never understand how this series doesn’t have more hype. We have a unique magic system with ANIMALS, loveable characters, laugh out loud lines, adorable romance, representation. It’s all so cozy and enjoyable, except when I’m sweating cuz I’m stressed for my faves.

It's time! The Shattered Crown is the third and final installment of The Beast Charmer series by Maxym M. Martineau. I originally fell in love with this series thanks to all of the fantastical creatures it involved, not to mention a daring plot or two! So I'll be sad to say goodbye to this series.

Leena Edenfrell's life has changed so much over the past few years. First, she was used, abandoned, and banished. Then she was hunted. Now she has found her pair bond, Noc Feyreigner, and together they must stand tall against the rising threat of war and destruction that faces their people.

In a short span of time, Leena has gone from banished beast charmer to the new Crown of their council. So it is up to her to keep these people safe. But sometimes, protecting your own requires you to take risks and begin a new battle, as Leena will soon find out.

Wow. The conclusion to The Beast Charmer trilogy was every bit the whirlwind I was expecting, and then some! Our favorite characters go through so much during The Shattered Crown; it's almost unbearable.

The keyword being almost. I still happily read this book from start to finish, mind you. There were admittedly more twists and turns than I was expecting, not to mention several side plots. All of that worked well to further flesh out the world, though it sometimes slowed down the pace a bit.

I can't help but wonder if we'll see more stories from this world? I know that Leena and Noc's story is complete (technically, I could easily see a few more adventures!), but there are SO many secondary characters in this world. I could easily see one of them picking up the mantle and bringing us onward into something new.

Either way, I do appreciate what Maxym M. Martineau created here. I first fell in love with this series two books ago, as I was desperately craving a fantastic world that focused on magical beasts. I got that here, and thank goodness for it! Though if there is a new series in the future, I wouldn't say no to more time spent with those wonderful creatures...is that me being greedy again? Oops.

Long story short, The Shattered Crown was a solid conclusion to this series. I'm sad to see it go, but I am happy for its memories with me.

Why is everyone not all over these books!!! Seriously one of my favorite series at this point. All of the thanks to Penguin Teen for bringing this world and this author to my doorstep (kindle). The characters are every bit of fleshed out with relatable personas, loveable quirks and beasts that you can’t help but want for your own. The world building grows upon itself through each stage of the narrative process. And the magic system is absolutely everything. Put all of these together and you get this excellent trilogy.

This is the third book and while I hate going over what occurs due to spoilers, I will say that the action and plot are never lacking. This is what female heroines and book boyfriends are made of. This is one of the books you make fandoms from. I hope Martineau continues to create worlds and characters like she has with the Beast Charmer series. Each book is an improvement on the last and I have loved each one so far.

Thank you again to Penguin Teen for the ability to read and review all of these novels for an honest and unbiased opinion. I highly recommend to readers who love fantasy, magical beasts, excellent characters, descriptive worldbuilding and phenomenal narratives that can gut punch you and make you smile all at the same time.

The Shattered Crown is the third and final installment in author Maxym Martineau's The Beast Charmer trilogy. Fated mates Leena Edenfrell, now the Crown of the Council for the Best Charmers, and Noc, aka Aleksander Nocsis Feyreigner, Prince of Lendria, and heir to the thrown, must somehow pull together their people in a desperate fight against Varek, the King of Lendria, Yazmin, former Council member and traitor who tried to kill her own people and wants to raise a dangerous beast called Ocnolog, and Darrien, Cruor assassin who took people loyal to him to ally with Varek and Yazmin.

It has been one week since Yazmin's attack where she ordered beasts to kill Charmers. Meanwhile, Darrien tried to kidnap Leena, and take Noc's job as leader of the Cruor assassins. In Hireath, Yazmin is searching for the missing Charmers who she believes were secreted away in some location she is desperate to uncover. It has been discovered that the Royal family's sentinels have been hunting and capturing Charmers on Beast Hunts. Leena never dreamed of igniting a war, and Noc never wanted to set foot on a battlefield again or to become King.

But with their enemies combine forces, they have no choice but to fight and seek outside help in order to bring the villains down and save the world. While Noc makes moves to reclaim his throne, Leena acts as the new Crown of the Charmer's Council, searching for a way to stop the enemy from raising Ocnolog, an ancient dragon destined to burn their world to ash. Leena and Noc know that the enemy will be difficult to defeat, so they travel to another kingdom where the Queen of that country despises Noc for something that happened a very long time ago when he was cursed by a dark practitioner.

Leena, with a little help from Princess Jayla and her newest gift of a beast, convinces her mother that helping Leena and Noc rebalance the world would also save their own lives from countries already encroaching on their territory. After all, there is a prophecy that needs to be stopped. One of the key aspects of this series and Yazmin's betrayal is that she truly believed that Varek was kidnapping and keeping Charmers for his own nefarious reasons. If Yazmin discovers that this is factual, will it really change anything? Especially since the only thing she needs now to raise Ocnolog is already at her finger tips.

Yazmin is truly evil in this book, and Leena has her hands full trying to stop her destruction. But when Leena discovers a shocking secret, will she stay the course, or will she join Yazmin? While the story does alternate between Leena and Noc, Yazmin has a few chapters thrown in for a broader view of what is happening in this world. There were certain chapters which we saw from the perspectives of Calem, Ozias, Kost, and Gaige who have really become Leena's family since she first met the assassins of Cruor and they allow them into their lives. They each have their own struggles and relationships to deal with and each of their singular chapters provided us enough information to know there is more for them to say of their story.

I feel that the author did a decent job of wrapping up this series and tying up loose ends, including the actual fate of what really happened to Leena's parents who disappeared on a beast hunt. In all seriousness, there are several secondary characters who could legitimately have their own novella's or spin off series including Raven, Oz, and Calem.

The Shattered Crown by Maxym M. Martineau was an excellent conclusion to the Beast Charmer Trilogy.

Leena and Noc went on one heck of a ride in this book, and the action was pretty much non-stop from beginning to end. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I was glad to see a couple of the other characters' perspectives, and I actually wish we would have gotten a bit more from them.

While I overall liked the wrap-up of the series, I do wish we would have gotten more conclusive HEAs from the other characters and couples as well.

Honestly you can’t read this as a stand-alone, it’s best to review the first two books because there’s bound to be things you forgot about. It had quite a few surprises but of course there was a happy ending that almost brings you to tears. You further see the progression of Leena’s power and start to understand how her and Noc settle into a partnership. It’s an easy book to get lost in and you can finish it in a day easily. I don’t want to say too much since it’s the last book in the series and anything I say will either spoil this book or the previous ones. I can just say that I highly recommend it and you won’t regret reading it.

This is the conclusion of the Charmers trilogy, and it is the conclusion of Leena And Noc’s story. We find Leena and Noc gearing up to go to war against Yazmin and the ether one. This journey is packed with action, batttles, and a few surprises like Leena’s parents and the lost charmers. Leena and Noc are pair bonds and they put that to the test with ultimae sacrifices. One thing is for sure, Leena has given up her family to the king before, and she will not lose them again. This time her family are the charmers, assassins, Noc, and her beasts. She will sacrifice anything to keep them safe.

I really enjoyed The Shattered Crown! Since I started at the end of the series, I'll be grabbing Kingdom of Exiles (Book 1) to jump right back in from the beginning!!

I would place this series in New Adult.

Thanks NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Noc and Leena are amazing... What an epic adventure and wonderful lover story. :) The first two books were great and the conclusion is stunning. Lots of action, excitement... It's fast-paced and there isn't a boring part honestly. All the beloved characters all got their arcs.... Love this series.

Thanks to the publisher for providing an arc.

Maxym has done it again!!! The epic conclusion to Noc and Leena's story was just as amazing as its predecessors. The Shattered Crown leaves us with Leena, now Crown of the Charmers, uniting her people with Cruor's assassins in hope to stop Yazmin from raising the destructive beast Ocnolog and to take down King Varek. Her family is by her side but they will have to deal with old grudges, new alliances, secrets unfolded, struggling relationships, and the dangers that can tear Leena and Noc's loved ones apart as well as their heart.

As with the other two books, I was instantly immersed into the plot. In fact, by chapter 5 I was already crying. There is so much going on in this book that no chapter was slow or felt like it dragged on. Maxym's attention to detail in describing her surroundings and her character's emotions has not only vastly improved, but its been polished in a way that you can't help but feel sucked into the world and feel like you are along these characters, seeing what they are seeing.

Although the story's focus remains to be Noc and Leena, there were certain chapters which we saw from the perspective of Calem, Ozias, Kost, and Gaige and I loved them. Since book 1, Maxym has given us these 4 different characters with personalities that compliment each other as well as Noc and Leena and you've grown to love them just as much as the main characters. Having these few chapters not only gave a change of pace, but it also masterfully set up what might be the stories for the next 3 books. They each have their own struggles and relationships to deal with and each of their singular chapters provided us enough information to know there is more for them to say of their story, and give us a taste of what we could hope to expect.

As always, the writing is superb and I love the way Maxym describes her world. Its exciting, its vivid, and its beautiful. As part of my honest review and critique, I must point out that at first glance, the ending was action-packed and epic and it stayed true to the whole vibe and message this series has carried out since Kingdom of Exiles. However, when going over it more intricately, the ending felt a bit tropey and cheesy. It was easy to visualize the scenes with Leena at the final battle and it reminded me of what I would see in a Pokemon show which I do enjoy. But again, it felt very tropey.

Overall, I adored this series. I adore these characters. I love Maxym's world and her writing. And I am absolutely stoked for the next 3 books to come.

The Shattered Crown by Maxym M. Martineau, I've been a fan of this series since the beginning and felt this was a good conclusion. Leena and Noc are back with their band of fellows that we have come to know and love. With greater trouble coming and pursuit from all sides how can they possibly overcome all the obstacles being thrown at them?
