Lovely story about 6 individuals finding love in an unexpected way when participating in a professor's project called The Chemistry of Mating. Jodi writes in a way that draws you into the story so that you don't want to put it down, don't want to stop reading and cheer when they each find what has been missing. Ready for the next in this series.

This is one of the most delightful stories this year. When you think you know which direction your life is taking you. Things happen to turn your plans upside-down. Enjoyed it from the start to finish.

Dinner on Primrose Hill by Jodi Thomas is the third book in the Honey Creek series. The books are all set in Honey Creek, Texas. In each novel the stories of three separate couples all roll around each other while the primary story involves them.

Benjamin and Virginia are both professors at the nearby college. They are opposites and work together on a research paper. He is a chemistry professor and she is a biology professor. They are the first couple.

Hank and Millie are even more opposite. Everyone knows Hank as the preacher’s kid who was out of control. What they don’t know is that he is a specialist with law enforcement. Millie is the local librarian for the college. As Hank comes blowing into town, he hits Millie and she is badly hurt. Hank agrees to stay and help Millie. They are couple number two.

Ketch is an ex service man going to college to find his new life. He has no family to help him and he is determined to move on into what he is going to do next. Tuesday is shy and easily bullied by some of the locals, who see her as easy. Ketch helps her to fix her place and she helps him find his way. They are couple number three.

The main storyline focuses on pipe bombs that are being left all over town. The group of couples along with the sheriff are working together to work toward solving the mystery while falling in love.

I enjoy Jodi Thomas’ novels about Honey Creek. I like the mix of characters and how they are woven into the story. The storyline moves right along and keeps you guessing. Dinner on Primrose Creek by Jodi Thomas is a good read.

Once again another excellent novel by the consummate storyteller Jodi Thomas. Her books never disappoint. Her characters are flawed but so dang likeable. This book has it all - mystery, romance and just a touch of humor. There are multiple scenarios going on yet they all connect and keep you wanting more. Excellent!

I will say it time and time again, I am always a fan of a small town romance. There is something spectacularly special about Jodi Thomas' Honey Creek books. I look forward to each one, feeling as if when I open the pages I will be visiting old friends and making new ones.

Dinner on Primrose Hill introduces you to new characters while a few familiar faces make an appearance. Ketch and Tuesday were my favorite of the thee couples' stories that this book followed. They both seemed like lost souls who were meant to connect to each other. I enjoyed the storyline of Hank and Millie - the rumored bad boy and the librarian. The story of the two professors, reuniting years after a very short time together, was delightfully intriguing. I will be patiently waiting to return to Honey Creek again in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest review.

This book is set in Clifton Bend, not far from the town of Honey Creek, and was a thoroughly satisfying, romantic read. There are three couples in this book.

The chapters alternate with each being narrated or seen through the point of view of one character, most frequently by the men, although each woman has her own chapter. I liked seeing the male point of view - it was pretty funny at times. I do recommend making a list of each couple's names, ages, and occupations when you start the book.

The oldest couple, Benjamin and Virginia are both in their 40's and teach at the local college. Benjamin is uptight while Virginia is very much a free spirit. They could not be more different.

The second couple, Amelia and Hamilton (Hank), are in their thirties. She is the librarian at the college while Hank left Clifton Bend right after high school and few in town know what he did after that. Hank is the son of a local pastor and he and his dad don't get along. Hank and Amelia meet when they are involved in an accident.

The youngest characters are Ketch and Tuesday who are in their early 20's. Ketch just got out of the military and Tuesday is working as a waitress. Ketch helps her out of a tight situation one night, and they become friends. She lives at a house on Primrose Hill. I fell in love with that house and this couple.

I don't think it is necessary to read the first two books in order to enjoy this one. I received a review copy of this book from the publisher Kensington Books through Netgalley. It was my pleasure to read and review this book.

A wonderful cast of characters, what more can I say -- very unique, fun, and interesting. Kudos to you Jodi Thomas on another book well done! This story drew me in and kept me interested. Would recommend! Waiting patiently for more beautiful words from you Jodi!

Although the set-up of the chapters is not the way I like to read, I enjoyed this small town romance with a bit of suspense thrown in. There were more "main" characters then I am used to in one book, but I liked their relationships, as well as how they all tied into each other at the end of the book. This book had many of my favorite elements including, second chance romance, hometown romance & charming characters, including a furry one. I look forward to the next book & was thrilled to find a preview of it at the end of this book.

Another very enjoyable read from Jodi Thomas with glimpses of old friends from Honey Creek while making new ones. This is the story of basically 6 people whose lives are touched by each other and those around them. All this while realizing that there is a bomber who has escalated from pipe bombs that did not work to one that did and probably more to come. I can't wait to read the next story that will be coming out of Honey Creek because returning there is like visiting old friends. Thank you Net Galley for an ARC e-book of this story in exchange for an honest review.

One of the things I've most enjoyed about this series is how Thomas captures the spirit of a small town and the people who live there. In Dinner on Primrose Hill, her characters span a wide range. Some have spent their whole lives in the same small town while others couldn't wait to get out as soon as they turned eighteen and still others are newly arrived. They all have stories, they all have flaws, they all deserve love. Even when they aren't looking for it...or don't believe they're deserving of it...or think the time for love has passed them by.

Thomas focuses on three couples in this book, one in their forties, one in their late thirties, and the third in their twenties. While events (a bit of mystery/suspense) cause the couples, and a few others, to weave in and out of one another's lives, each of the couples' relationships unfolds in alternating chapters told primarily from the male perspective, a twist I found to be very entertaining. Each couple has a unique vibe and while I related to some more than others, their journeys were all sweet, heartfelt, a bit quirky, and enjoyable.

This is the third book in Thomas's Honey Creek series and while a few continuing characters appear, readers new to Honey Creek should have no problem starting with Dinner on Primrose Hill. For fans of the series, reading this newest book is like a trip home, where you catch up with old friends and make a few new ones. I'm already looking forward to my next visit in Sunday at the Sunflower Inn, which is scheduled to be published April 26, 2022.

Dinner on Primrose Hill by Jodi Thomas
Honey Creek #3

Honey Creek is a cozy town with wonderful people. This book has three couples that find their home and that home might be in Honey Creek but has a lot more to do with finding the person that makes them feel…HOME.

What I liked:
* That the story was told from the viewpoints of more than one character
* The people that eventually became the couples – ended up liking them all quite a bit and would have liked to be their friends
* That the couples were of different ages and backgrounds
* The writing, plot, and location
* That it made me smile more than once
* The story of the house on Primrose Hill and the people that lived in it over the centuries
* The pipe bomb issue and how it drew the characters together including some from previous books
* The character development and growth of more than one throughout the story
* That the child and dog in the story added a bit of charm, warmth and information about the characters
* That the backstories of the characters were pertinent and helpful in fleshing out the characters
* All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:
* The pipe-bomber-wannabe
* Knowing that some of the bad things that happened in backstories are all too true in real life
* Having to wait for the next book in the series.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Zebra for the ARC – this is my honest review.

This is the third book in the Honey Creek series, but it is the very first book by Jodi Thomas that I have read; I didn’t feel like I was missing anything in the story, so I believe that this can be read as a standalone book.

In this book, three unlikely couples who have seemingly nothing in common are thrown together by circumstances. Jenny is a biology teacher at the local college and she is working on a research project on “the chemistry of mating” and enlists the assistance of Benjamin, the Chemistry teacher. Ketch is a student at the college, but is a bit older than most students since he served in the military before going to college. His fiancé Crystal breaks it off and he goes to the local watering hole to forget, and meets a young waitress named Tuesday, who keeps everyone at arm’s length. Harrison is the local preacher’s son that the town remembers as a troublemaker; on way into town he (literally) runs into Amelia, the buttoned-up college librarian, with his motorcycle.

The couples get to know each other, and their stories also intersect when it comes to a bit of a mystery in the town and form an unlikely group of friends.

I liked how the story developed and how the characters interacted. I am planning on checking the author’s other books out, and I would recommend this to anyone who loves a small town romance!

This is the first book by this author and this boo is book 3 as part of a series. As a reader it took me a little bit longer to become familiar with the characters as well as the storyline. It can be read as stand alone but would probably be enhanced by reading the previous books in the series. This series is about small town in Texas and is sweet as well as wholesome. This captivating story has a rather large cast of characters, Benjamin, Virginia/Jenny, Ketch, Tuesday, Amelia, Harrison/Hank and those are only the main characters that this story is about. Each of them has their own individual stories and ties to the small town in Texas where this story takes place. a wonderful story of three sets of unlikely people falling in love and settling down. I simply loved it. Most of these people might have been described as "losers" or unlovable but they found one another and it was all-good. Hank was the town bad boy, had been for years, and was riding his motorcycle too fast, as he was wont to do, and ran into and injured Amelia Remington, the librarian and discovered that she had no one to see to her when they let he go home. He had no choice but to volunteer and discovered someone as unlike himself as possible. Ketch Kincaid had been dumped, by letter, the only one Crystal had ever written him, after six years, and drank himself into a stupor. He was helped home by the Bartender, Tuesday Raine, the town bad girl, and discovered that Crystal had done him a favor. Benjamin was a slightly-over-forty, college professor who was totally annoyed by his next- office-over mate until e discovered something amazing about her. They were all brought together by a common concern, and learned so much. Very heartwarming and light, really enjoyed the book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, author and Netgalley.

This was a really cute book. There were multiples storylines in this book, and I enjoyed all of them. I quickly became invested in the different characters and how things would end for them. There were three main couples in this book, Hank and Millie, Jenny and Ben, and Ketch and Tuesday. All of them were kind of odd pairings that didn’t appear to match up, and it was interesting to see how the author brought these different characters together. This was an enjoyable easy read. I received an ARC from netgalley, and this is my honest review.

This is the third book in the Honey Creek series and Jodi Thomas keeps getting better. There are 3 storylines running throughout this book: one is the story of Ketch and Tuesday; the second is about Benjamin and Jenny; and the third is about Amelia and Hank. While this sounds complicated, the author has made it easy to follow all the characters. There is a down-home simplicity with Jodi Thomas's writings that make you feel as though you're reading about long-lost friends.
This novel is about growing older, facing the future and appreciating the past. Each couple has a separate story and I loved getting to know them through this talented author's writings.

This was such a fun book. These characters were all quirky and interesting, in different ways. They are brought together by a thinly disguised mystery, but as couple they were beyond amazing. Most romances are about young, good-looking people. Some of these were not . . . young, or good-looking, but they were definitely romances, and good ones. What a terrific, feel-good book. Yay, Jodi Thomas. You did great!

So much to love and enjoy reading Dinner on Primrose Hill by Jodi Thomas.

No one writes a small Texas town better than Jodi. It's obvious she has a great love for the place and she makes her reader love it too.
The characters are so loveable and such fun. Some of them carry "bruising" from their past. In this book we have three main pairs, promising some romance.
 1. Benjamin and Virginia, two college professors in their early forties. He is a head person and she is a heart person and their topic of research over the Spring break? What makes people attracted to each other?
2.  Ketch and Tuesday. Ketch is an ex soldier just finishing up his studies and Tuesday is a young woman who starts out as a barmaid but really wants to be a nurse. And... she owns the Primrose Hill house.
3. Amelia the University librarian and Hank - well not giving away what Hank does but he's a character anyway.

The humor in this story is a load of fun. There is just a touch of exaggeration, not much but a gentle touch. The dialogue is witty when the reader least expects it and a chuckle emits on the spot.
There is a bit of a town mystery going on, and it is mainly through that that all the couples  interconnect and the story takes on a cohesiveness.

That Primrose Hill house. The kind of house we'd all like to explore and maybe even live there. I know I would.
Another totally delightful read from Jodi Thomas.

I was intrigued by the premise of older hero and heroine. But, this story just fell flat for me.
If you are a fan of the author, I think it will satisfy you, but this just wasn't for me.
