This is a perfect fit for readers who crave a heartwarming, small-town romance with a second-chance love story, a strong-willed heroine, and a dashing hero who must confront his past to secure a future with the woman he loves.

I picked up this book expecting something based on the title and synopsis and got something else.

I'm an accidental pregnancy romance trope junkie. I love reading books with the trope. The entire appeal is that the two main characters had a night together and the woman accidentally became pregnant. Because of the baby, the two main characters have to work together. And then the (generally) unlikely pair who thought they only had physical chemistry between them grow closer. Through that, they fall in love. That's! The whole! Point! Of the trope!

This book is titled "Sheriff's Pregnant Ex" but the woman is not pregnant until they're well into their second relationship! They even accepted that they love one another before she became pregnant. The pregnancy has nothing to do with the main romance. It doesn't play a part in bringing them together.

The book's title was misleading and the synopsis did not allude to the fact that the pregnancy doesn't play a major role. She's not even his ex when she became pregnant. I feel cheated.

The Sheriff's Pregnant Ex by Leslie North is what I'd consider to be a classic surprise pregnancy romance but with a few twists to change the story.
Brian Thorne has been the sheriff of his hometown of Darby Crossing a lacfor the last five years now, so when he is asked by the local dinner to lodge a new waitress in his spare room because she's in trouble he can't help but agree... Much to Brain's surprise the new waitress is his ex girlfriend, Caitlin Baker. Caitlin is the one who got away because of miscommunication between them. And now that she's back, at least temporarily Brain isn't sure if he should go after the girl who he's always loved or keep her at arms length.
Caitlin has always hated Darby Crossing because of how her parents treated her while she was living there. And now that she has had to move back to town because her ex boyfriend stole all her money and the money she and her business partner had been saving to open a tattoo parlor. So having to except help from the man she's always loved is tough to handle. But when he expresses an interest in them seeing where they can go she isn't sure if she can ever trust a man again, even if he is the sheriff. But being in close proximity to the man you've always loved isn't easy... And that lead to a unexpected surprise in the form of a baby...

Just love Leslie’s books
Leslie North is the pen name for a critically-acclaimed author of women's contemporary romance and fiction. The anonymity gives her the perfect opportunity to paint with her full artistic palette, especially in the romance and erotic fantasy genres.

The truth of the matter is she loves her fictional persona, Leslie North, more than her normal, day-to-day persona! Her bestselling books focus on strong characters and particularly women who aren't afraid to challenge an alpha male. Inspired after years of travel, her stories are set all over the world, from the tough streets of Russia to the beautiful beaches of the middle east.

A pleasant second chance at love. Although he is satisfied with his life as the sheriff in Darby Crossing, Brian Thorne feels an overwhelming responsibility to “his” town. He is surprised when the woman he once loved, Caitlin Baker, returns home. After Caitlin’s savings were stolen, which derailed her plans to open her business, she had nowhere else to go. She has no idea that her first meeting with Brian will complicate both of their lives. Taking a job as a waitress will almost assuredly bring her into continued contact with Brian…and unfortunately her mother. When he learns what brought her back home, he offers to help her recover her money as well as a place to live. When their future is pulled into two directions, will he choose Caitlin or the town that he also loves? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. This book takes place almost at the same time period that the first one takes place, but continues after the rodeo left town. Cal and the Thorne clan make appearances throughout the book. I thought while good, some places seemed very rushed. I love reading about the Thorne brothers. I can't wait for jakes book, and more about the small town residents. Maggie too.

This is the 2nd book in the Thorne Ranch Brothers Series. Can be read as a stand alone. Brian Thorne is the sheriff of a small town in Darby Crossing that is home to his family ranch. Catlin is the sister of his best friend. They started a romance when both where younger that left both hurting due to miscommunication. Catlin grew up in a cold, emotional abuse home growing up and could not wait to leave town to peruse her dreams of being a tattoo artist. After his Brother and Father passed away in a car accident, Brian grew up with unreasonable expectations that he put on himself about there was something more that he could have done to prevent the accident. He puts his all into policing the small town and puts everyone else first. They reconnect by chance at a bar out of town and reminisce about their past but both are unwilling to uproot their lives. Later Catlin's ex steals all her money and business money and she is has to return to Darby Crossing as a waitress to earn money. She is suppose to room with her friend Aurora but due to a basement flood she is unable too. But her friend Aurora not knowing the history of Brian and Catlin has made arrangements for her to rent a room from him. He agrees not knowing that it is Catlin. This is light hearted 2nd chance romance that is a fast read. As always I enjoy this authors books. I can always sit down and read in one sitting. Highly recommend.

I received this as ARC from Netgalley for my honest opinion.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Relay Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the 2nd book in a series, but it reads well as a stand alone. I actually liked the first book better. This one was just okay for me. I liked Brian the sheriff, but I was disappointed in Caitlin. I could not relate to her, I was mostly just annoyed by her. This is a 3 star from me.

Sheriff's Pregnant Ex is the second book in Leslie North's Thorne Ranch Brothers series, but it's the first book in the series that I've read and it worked just fine as a standalone. It's a fast-moving, one sitting, second chance at love romance, and an enjoyable read. I give it 4 stars.

The main characters are Brian Thorne, the sheriff of the small town of Darby Crossing and an all around good guy, but one who takes his job too seriously. Caitlin is the younger sister of his best friend. When Brian and Caitlin were in college, they became involved, but this is not only a second chance novel, it's also a novel about miscommunication, and since neither of them communicated how much they wanted their relationship to deepen, it eventually petered out and ended, especially since Brian wanted to return to his hometown and become its sheriff, but when Caitlin left Darby Crossing for college, she never wanted or planned to return to her cold, disapproving, snooty, status-seeking parents, who were never there for her and never supported any of her plans and dreams.

Brian does his occasional drinking in a nearby town, and when his attempt to oust a drunk who is bothering a woman and not taking no for an answer, he breaks it up--but the woman being harassed is Caitlin. When their college romance ended, Brian was heartbroken. This chance encounter leads to a one-night stand at a nearby motel, or so they think, with Caitlin returning to Austin the next day. Caitlin and a friend were planning to open a tattoo parlor in Austin until Caitlin's ex-boyfriend steals all their money and flees, and local law enforcement writes her off as someone trying to perpetrate insurance fraud, forcing Caitlin to return to Darby Crossing, penniless, homeless, and jobless. She calls an old friend and picks up the waitressing job at the hometown diner where she worked part-time while in high school--a job that comes with the promise of a place to live, a plan that doesn't work out, and Caitlin ends up renting the only room available--a spare bedroom in Brian's house. If you're a romance reader, you already know where this is heading, and of course, there are problems ahead on the rocky road to their second chance at romance, because Caitlin still wants to leave once she can earn some money to start again, and Brian is married to his job, 24/7, and has no desire to leave, while Caitlin has no plans to stay--until her unexpected pregnancy changes everything, or does it? Since I don't do spoilers, you'll have to read this well-written, angsty, and enjoyable novel to find out.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

I received Sheriff's Pregnant Ex as part of a NetGalley giveaway.

Brian Thorne is the duty-bound sheriff of Darby Crossing, Texas. Caitlin Baker is the ex who has haunted him for years. When they meet by chance, a sporadic hookup results in a pregnancy. But Caitlin has big dreams, and they don't involve Darby Crossing, where her toxic family still lives, and Brian's dedication to his work makes forging a lasting relationship difficult. Can the pair sort out their differences and find their happily ever after?

I couldn't get on board with this one. Once, just once, can characters find happiness away from the wholesome small town? Can a woman's job and livelihood be considered in at least some sort of compromise situation, or do we always have to kowtow to what the big strong man wants, even if what the big strong man wants 1) brings out his worst qualities, and 2) puts his partner in close proximity to abusers and tormentors? I actually had some hope that Brian could find fulfillment and a healthy work-life balance by moving to Austin, but Sheriff's Pregnant Ex played it safe, and the result is extremely unsatisfying and the opposite of romantic.

Leslie North consistently brings great characters and passionate romance to life. As a big fan of North's, her name provokes an automatic one-click from me. I am always entertained. Highly recommend.

Sometimes I think small-time life would be perfect but then reading books like this really makes you second-guess it. Everybody knows everybody else's business. Caitlin has to negotiate through this. Brian is helpful but only as much as he is able. It takes a while for him to see that Caitlin needs him more than the town does.
