I really liked the idea of this book, but I found it wasn't really for me, unfortunately. I did find the section on placebos to be especially interesting. I'm sure many others may enjoy this book.
At this point, I'll try anything to heal myself. The practices in this book did help me mentally, if not physically.
If you've ever been interested in how the body can heal itself consciously, this book is for you. It was clearly heavily researched and has some mind blowing information in it. For a non medical provider person, the first bit may be harder to read as it is mostly research, but don't let that deter you. It's well written and easy to digest. I think many people will get a lot out of this book
As a lay person (no medical background at all) it took me quite a while to read the first 2/3 of this book - not because it was dry or boring but because the information contained is just mind blowing. The section on placebos is amazing. The information on TT and cancer cells is astounding and so very encouraging. This book contains great information on our self healing potential, that the body if balanced properly can heal itself. How our immune system interacts with our emotional and mental states and how our emotions influence our bodily function and health. It also points out that what was once thought preposterous with regards to energy and healing is now common knowledge. The last third of the book has actual healing exercises that everyone can easily do whether it be breath work, creative outlets or chakra healing.
Backed up by research and studies, this book dares to adventure into an area that many would consider to be woo woo, and not actually methods that are useful in healing.
I love that the author persisted when faced with doubters and those who would make fun of these very useful healing methods. While she doesn't encourage anyone to reject medical care by a doctor, she does suggest that biofield methods are helpful alongside any treatment people receive.
I have long been interested in holistic health and found this book to be a very valuable addition to this subject.
In 'Healing Ourselves' mind-body researcher Shamini Jain explores the connection between consciousness and health, Jain delineates scientific evidence that the mind-body connection is indeed real and the basis for healing. Examining the human bio-field, placebos, and healing exercises, this book covers a vast topic in a compassionate, considerate, and inspirational way. This book does not propose spirituality over science or holistic therapy over allopathic medicine, but rather discusses through studies, research, and evidence that the two are interconnected. Human health is a combination of matter and energy, and it is the forgotten energy, spirit, and or consciousness that the author suggests is the missing link to better health.
Revealing and healing, a must-read for anyone seeking self-awareness, self-empowerment, and ultimately better health.
