"After Perfect" had a very brief start with Gabriella's post-divorce despair but once I got past that, I was able to turn off my pandemic-worrying brain and enjoy the lovely story about Gabriella starting over and living for herself, post-divorce. Part of me thinks that Colt could have been more fleshed-out as a character but perhaps he's meant to be mentally rounded out by the reader's mind since he seemed like a template for an all-black wearing creative type. Is this book realistic? Not really, but if you're looking for a nice story about living in New York as a newly single woman with ample finances, this book was a nice way to spend a few hours. (I received a free ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.)

As a reader, I thought "After Perfect" was decent; the prose was readable and inviting. It is so easy to read that you became absorbed in this language from the first page. Therefore, I would suggest it was intended for a specific group of readers. The prose in this book might not be to everyone's taste since it seems more conversational to me. The way I would communicate with others would be this way. It was enjoyable. I was not disappointed with the debut, looking forward to seeing more.
