A fast paced and engaging story, I loved the drama and action, it’s well written and easy to read. I’m looking forward to what happens next and can’t wait for more
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I would not recommend reading Honorable Rogue as a standalone. In a nut shell- the story line is very convoluted and I was left playing catch up the entire time. Something would happen and I wouldn’t understand, then several chapters later everything was explained in more detail or sometimes it wasn’t. There was a lot of scientific jargon that felt a touch over done. To make matters worse there were several scenes that just didn’t make any sense to me. In the end I was left with more questions than answers and beyond frustrated.
I liked the characters but I can’t say I formed any attachment to them. I didn’t feel any chemistry between the MC’s and their whole relationship just seemed forced and bizarre. I think we are to assume they fell in “insta-love” but I’m not sure how that happened…
I had a really hard time getting through this book and I normally love a good paranormal romance. I'm assuming everything is explained in a more detailed way in book one of this series. The story line just wasn’t strong enough to make up for my lack of knowledge about the world.
Just fell in love with the premise and the characters. I can't get over them . So beautifully written. Such intricacy adds beauty to the carefully woven plot. Can't wait for the next book in the series !
When her friend gets married, Tori is inadvertently pulled into a vampire war. Hunter is leading his enclave into battle against vampires who have fallen into madness and turned rogue. As a doctor, Tori might be able to figure out how the rogues are being created and stop the war. Together Hunter and Tori are explosive, but neither of them are keen to start something that they both feel is doomed.
Both Tori and Hunter start the novel with some serious baggage. Hunter's past as a slave/gladiator make it impossible for him to conceive kindness. Tori's lost everyone she ever cared about and doesn't want to get her heart broken again. A little more communication would have gone a long way into smoothing their relationship.
This is the second book in the series, and since I had not read the first, the world building was a little confusing.
While I have not read Blood Rouge test which is the first book rot this series and I usually can't read books out of order.
I did with Honorable Rouge. And kinda wished I read the first one first.
But.....
Thank you NetGalley, City Owl Press and Author for this awesome ebook copy!
Honorable Rouge by Parisi was such a great, exciting book. I was amazed at how quick I became hooked to the book.
This was a wonderful story that was a nice vampire story and love story all rolled into one.

Well this book held my attention! I could not put it down. The story, the history, the characters and how they all interacted with each other. It was good.
The beginning caught my attention as I continued to read and thought this was going to be a typical vibe that I have read before. Boy I was wrong! I have read tons of vampire paranormal romance books and let me tell you that the feeling of reading them for me is always fun! That feeling will always be with me. This book brought that feeling back so yay! Anyways back to the story, Hunter closed himself off because that how he thinks he should be. When Tori comes into the picture, does she break Hunter's wall down?
Now Tori on the hand is a woman of guts and living life to the fullest but she also has a wall too. She's a great character. She can hold her ground too. I love that. So you can imagine how Tori felt when she finds out Hunter is an actual vampire.
The two characters do have chemistry with each other. It's instant lust at first but then further along I think it becomes something more. They compliment each other. They are for each other.

While the story goes there is a danger involved. Someone from Hunter's past targets Tori. There is a lot of history from Hunter's past which is not pleasant. I felt bad for Hunter and what he went through. I can understand how he is from that past.
There were some other characters that came into play such as Stacy and Charles which Tori knew. Charles is also a vampire while Stacy is not. Plus some other vampires show up which were pretty cool. I loved how one of the vampires interacted with Tori. Stacy and Tori chatting was so fun too. It was nice to see a variety of characters.
The plot was great -- fast paced, exciting, adventure, steamy scenes, dialogue that keeps you entertained and the ending took me by surprise! I thought the author did a great job with this story. I look forward to reading more from her.
Just a Warning: Hunter's past is dark. Back in the day of Roman Gladiator times things happened

Bloodthirsty rogue vampires kidnap the only woman Hunter has ever loved so he must choose between taking down his former master and losing his beloved. Centuries-old vampire Hunter Pierce doesn't believe in love and prefers to spend his time alone. When he meets pathologist Tori Roberts at a wedding, something about her melancholy disposition intrigues him. He reveals he's a vampire, yet she doesn't shy away. He takes a chance and goes after her, which leads to disastrous events neither Hunter nor Tori can forget. With rogue vampires wreaking havoc on both vampires and humans, Hunter asks for Tori's help in creating a cure for Nirvana, which causes the rogue vampires to kill at random. She agrees but neither Hunter nor Tori are prepared for what happens next. A kidnapping, a deadly confrontation, and the realization that love is stronger than immortality.
Honorable Rogue is a paranormal romantic thriller I couldn't put down. I love a dark vampire tale with a huge dash of romance and suspense thrown in. Honorable Rogue is that and so much more. I connected with Hunter right away as well as Tori. Their fragility, while not apparent right away, had my heart breaking for them. Yes, a vampire can be fragile, especially when it has lived a life similar to Hunter's. The plot moved at a great pace with action, intrigue, romance, suspense, politics, and an ending I didn't see coming. The vampire politics were fascinating and added to the intricate world-building. This is my first time reading a book by Linda J. Parisi and I'm impressed. Her descriptive narration plunged me into the story while the added emotional tension had me whipping through the pages. If you like your vampires dark and brooding with intense action, pick up Honorable Rogue. If you're a paranormal romance reader, you're going to love Honorable Rogue. I can't wait to see what happens next. Highly recommend!
My Rating: 5 stars
Couldn't get past the confused, spotty storyline, unbelievable characters and ridiculous dialogue. Would not recommend.
I wanted to like Honorable Rogue more than three stars worth, and perhaps if I'd read the first book in the series, I would have. Or maybe if there'd been a glossary of terms of a prologue of sorts, I would have understood the story better. As it was, though I really like both Tori and Hunter individually, I had trouble feeling any chemistry between the two. More specifically, I didn't understand what drew them to each other in the first place.
Hunter is a really old vampire with a lot of issues to work through. Tori is human, a pathologist who somehow finds herself involved with both Hunter and the quest to find a cure for the drug that was nefariously invented to turn young vampires into bloodthirsty rogues. (Is it me, it is there always a drug like this in vamp romances?) As all this is going on, we get glimpses into Hunter's tragic 2000-year-old past and Tori's more recent one.
While I could follow the general story easily enough, there were many parts that seemed to rely on knowledge gained by reading book 1 of the series. As a result--at least for those of us starting with book 2--the story felt like it had gaps. In fact, I felt a little more like a visitor than the primary reader, if that makes sense.
Overall, there's a story here that will probably entertain fans of paranormal romance. I just wish it stood a little more independently.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!
