This was a fun read. I loved the bonus questions at the end. This series is a wonderful series for those inquisitive littler learners!

My 7-year-old loves the Secret Explorers series, and this book did not disappoint. This is a fantastic read for elementary school-aged children who love adventure books and learning. We can't wait for the next in the series!

I received an electronic ARC from DK Publishing through NetGalley.
King again brings readers along on an adventure to save part of the world. This time Leah and Gustavo travel to North Carolina to protect Venus Flytraps from poachers. Using their knowledge and the equipment the Beagle provides, they track the poachers and prevent them from leaving until the police arrive. Plenty of action with informative text woven through the story. Don't miss the facts and glossary provided at the end of the book. This series encourages readers to learn more about a wide variety of STEM areas and find their own interest areas.

My eight year old and I love the Secret Explorers series! The Plant Poachers is another wonderful installment in this adventure-packed series. A perfect read aloud and partner read for elementary kids wanting to tackle some thicker chapter books. My son loved learning about the Venus Fly Trap and that the kids thwarted the poachers! We can't wait for the next one!

Thank you NetGalley for the copy!

This was an engaging story. If your kid(s) enjoy stories about nature and also adventure, check this story out. Leah and Gustavo are sent on a mission to find out what's happening to the Venus Fly traps in North Carolina. They have to use their knowledge and wits to stop more plants from being taken.
Great adventure and lots of general knowledge are at the heart of this story, along with the lesson that kids should believe in themselves.

My five-year-0ld and I are huge fans of the Secret Explorers series, but I have to admit, this one was not my favorite, and I likely won't even add it to our book shelf when it's released. For me, it's reminiscent of the Rainforest Rangers book, which, instead of a fun adventure, full of mishaps, thrilling escapes, and lots of creative problem solving, includes a storyline about adults who are incredibly unkind to the children (and often the people working for them!) and put them in very dangerous situations. This story also includes a storyline about the explorers collaborating with law enforcement to get people (in this case, poachers of endangered plants) arrested and taken into custody. While, yes, this is a common occurrence in the United States, parents who are supportive of movements that are working to abolish the police should beware that this happens in the book.

Overall, quite a disappointing story, but I'm still a very big fan of SJ King's series over all!

This book is the newest book in this series, and while reading the others would be nice, it is not necessary. This book works as a stand alone since the characters are introduced. This one focuses on the Venus Fly Trap and pachers. I think kids might need to have an explanation of what a poacher is and why that is not a good thing. Overall, this book would be engaging for kids, especially if they have read the entire series.
