A great book to start the new year off right. It will help you determine what foods work best to fuel you, along with recipes for inspiration.

The 17 Day Kickstart Diet is a "plant-forward" version of Dr. Moreno's 17 Day Diet. I like the intentions and clarity around this plan but it is definitely restrictive. For each of three phases, you are given a list of foods you may eat with salmon being the only "meat" for the first three days. I think this would be a great plan for a reset before getting into a healthier meal plan--a detox of sorts. It is easy to follow as all foods are laid out for you with sample plans and recipes.

I think that for some this would be a good starting point. It did give recipes at the end that seem pretty simple. And a menu plan. Pretty simple and straightforward.

No new information here. Good for beginners but not those who have ready many health books. Organized, structured and written nicely.

I really needed this after Covid. Have been having trouble getting motivated so a kickstart for 2.5 weeks is just what I needed. The key will be whether I can stick with it.

Thank you to Net Galley, Mike Moreno, Atria, and Simon & Schuster for the advance digital galley. Unfortunately, I did not find this book to contain any new information about nutrition and health. The “diet” seemed so restrictive and unsustainable and the “exercise” seemed really rudimentary (crunches, lunges, arm circles). It was laughable - truly made me laugh. I wonder if the target audience is 65+? #NetGalley

Simply instructions and information that anyone could understand. Coming across a weight loss book written by a doctor isn't anything new, finding one that' easy to understand and explains things like artificial sweeteners and why you should avoid chicken while on a detox is new at least to me and refreshing at the same time. This book isn't bogged down with useless knowledge, everything is explained in a manner that anyone would be able to follow along without feeling overwhelmed.
