With You Forever by Chloe Liese is a perfect fit for readers who adore heartwarming, humorous, and slow-burning romance stories that tackle real-life themes such as autism, chronic illness, and the complexities of love and relationships, all wrapped up in a cozy and lighthearted package.
I am so invested in the Bergman family and their relationships. I love how interconnected they all are, how much rep there is in every book, and the romances are always steamy and beautiful. Axel and Rooney are my new favorite couple.
This series started out so strong for me but books 3 and 4 have not been my jam. I was most looking forward to Axel's story but this was not the story I wanted. It was 350 pages of agonizing about wanting each other so much when there really wasn't any barrier besides themselves...? It was painful to get through and I was so irritated by it all that I couldn't even buy their chemistry. And the ending was so unsatisfying. I wanted to know how their friends and family felt about the ending as it was a fake marriage trope. If book 5 doesn't work for me, I think I'll be saying a goodbye to the sweet Bergman clan.
I just adore the Bergman Brothers (and sister), and this is book number four in the series. This book really does have it all, opposites attract, a marriage of convenience, delicious slow-burn romance, chronic illness and autism rep, and a cozy A-frame in the woods.
Rooney is taking a break from law school to focus on her health and borrows the Bergman A-frame cabin for some alone time, not realizing the eldest Bergman brother, Axel, is there doing repairs. Rooney is as sunny as Axel is quiet and brooding, and neither of them know that their long-held crush is mutual. When a marriage of convenience is suggested, so that Axel can access the inheritance he needs in order to really fix up the A-frame, neither of them expects that it will turn into a tender and beautiful love on both sides.
Both of the main characters are fragile and real in a way that I swear only Chloe Liese can write. There are so many moments in the book that are almost painfully beautiful, in the best possible way. As with all of her books, this one is written with such care and tenderness and such relatable characters that you'll feel they must exist off the page as well.
If by some miracle you haven't started reading this series you need to change that pronto.
I JUST LOVE CHLOE LIESE!!!! Seriously though, this series is so fun to read! Axel is a neurodivergent artist and Rooney has Chronic ulcerative colitis. She is also studying Law at Stanford. Close quarters/ slow burn. I love how Chloe talks about chronic diseases etc. She includes everyone. I also loved how axel is an artist and that he finally shared his artwork with his parents!!
Thank you Chloe, Netgalley and Penguin for my free eARC in exchange for my honest review. All words and opinions are my own.
I love these books so so much, they are gorgeous, thoughtful stories with characters who are diverse and also well developed. I definitely recommend you check out these books, even if romantic books aren’t your thing as they are just so easy to love. Fantastic
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I really have no explanation as to why I took so long to read this book. It's actually shameful of me. I am upset with myself.
But I do love being back with the Bergman fam once again so I hope you can forgive me? Please? Pretty please? Great.
As expected, I loved this. Chloe Liese's writing will never fail to knock me off my feet and this one certainly did. The setting was stunning, as were all the animals I want to cry about. Ugh I felt at home.
I absolutely love and fell for these characters so much. They all need hugs. Though the angst was quite something. I loved it but simultaneously wanted to do some throttling. But Axel and Rooney had such wonderful chemistry and relationship and I was just so happy WHEN THEY WORKED THINGS OUT. Always love Liese's slow burn and lowkey thought she would cave early on but that did not happen and it made their romance even better.
The representation was maybe my favourite part about this book, because I could just FEEL the care that went into it and I love that about Chloe Liese so much.
I really don't know how to else to convince you that you need to be reading from this author because all her books are so good and I fall for them everything and !!!!!!!
Did I mention this was grumpy/sunshine marriage of convenience? I didn't. Well yeah. And it's magical READ IT NOW xoxoxoxoxo
With You Forever by Chloe Liese is a heartwarming and romantic novel that follows the unlikely love story of Rooney and Axel. Despite their differences, Rooney, a sunny and friendly woman, and Axel, a grumpy and distant man, find themselves drawn to each other in unexpected ways. When their problems intersect and they decide to enter into a marriage of convenience, they quickly realize that their feelings for each other are much deeper than they had initially thought.
One of the strengths of With You Forever is the well-developed and relatable characters. Rooney and Axel are both likeable and realistic, and their growth and development throughout the novel are engaging and satisfying to read. The novel also explores the complexities of relationships and the importance of communication and understanding in a thoughtful and nuanced way.
Overall, With You Forever is a delightful and heartwarming read that will leave you rooting for Rooney and Axel and their happily ever after. If you're a fan of romance novels, you won't want to miss this charming and heartwarming story.
I liked books by Chloe Liese before (book #1 was a 4-4.5 stars for me and #3 was 4 stars) and I know I’d definitely get sucked into the book with Liese’s writing.
With You Forever was my least favorite of the three books I’ve read by CL. Why?
The reason why is in itself Rooney’s illness. I can’t imagine what it’s like to have it (and hope never do know) but in this book, I felt like it’s the main focus of the book not the romance between Rooney and Axel.
Axel is autistic and Rooney knew that. She knew he has trouble voicing his thoughts and understands it completely. Yet, the main drama revolves around this, and instead of understanding coming from Rooney’s part she just up and leaves Axel and his house to go back to California or idk where she lived.
The other reasons why this book was so far my least favorite of CL:
– I don’t like heroines that don’t know most mundane stuff (her not knowing how to use a blender – she’s around 25-30 years old??? I would understand if this was a complicated kitchen appliance but a blender ???)
– idk if I’m the person for slow-burn romances because idk if this book would classify as slow-burn because it’s more like let’s interrupt this sex scene to make the book longer by randomly breaking a bed or showing up a guest or making a mess or accepting a dinner invitation or just randomly stop for no reason at all. There were so many moments they could be stripping their clothes off each other and making passionate love but it was interrupted by simply ridiculous stuff (like c’mon, a bed breaks when they get down and dirty (and not even doing a lot just decide to kiss and stuff) but not when Axel’s brother (early 20s I think) lie on it all night, basically jumping on it).
So, I’m rating this 3.5 stars because if I’m not mistaken their marriage is still a secret in the end, no one knows they got married and why. Marriage of convenience was the big plot for me but it was quickly brushed aside after they got married.
Requested and received this and then promptly fell down the rabbit hole with the other books in this series before I began reading this by happenstance. Love the characters and the emotional trajectory.
Give me allllll the Bergman Brothers books because each and every one is such an enjoyable (and steamy) read. Rooney and Axel's story was no exception and I absolutely devoured it! Chloe's magical power is her descriptive writing that translated ti some of the best characters and chemistry filled romances. I will continue to read everything she writes and recommend them to all my friends.
I've decided it is impossible for Chloe Liese to write a book that does not absolutely blow me away. This slow burn, marriage of convenience romance was everything I could have hoped for - I did not want Axel and Rooney's story to end!
Realizing that I read this months and months ago and never wrote a review for it 😬. Another awesome installment in the Bergman series. This one follows Axel and Rooney.
Some of my favorite aspects of this one:
1. IBS rep. A lot of my family members and myself deal with IBS in varying degrees and it feels like it’s so taboo to talk about.
2. It takes place at the A frame. Talk about a dream landscape. I love everything about that little oasis in the woods.
3. The tension. Talk about palpable. Looooved it.
4. Marriage of convenience. They are both trying to do the right thing and we all know how this ends up 😍
5. The dog. Oh my heart. When he makes it a house even though he still denies it’s his?
I will never stop recommending this series. I love every one in the family and all of their love stories. Always so excited and happy to read about them.
Chloe Liese is one of my favorite authors. I’m so happy I found her on Bookatsgram and love following along with the Bergman brothers! Thank you for the early copy!
Somehow I forgot to review this title and I’m sorry for that.
I read and loved each book in the series and with each new instalment, this family became my favourite fictional one. I can even admit that The Winston’s brothers by Penny Reid were dethroned and that’s a huge thing for me as I’ve been a fan of it since the first book released.
Here come these two perfectly imperfect characters that will find love when least expect and show us how that live can grow and make you more aware of people, and feelings and emotions throughout their story.
Another masterpiece by a now favourite author
This wasn't quite a home run for me because I had read several OMG Amazing books recently, but it was perfectly pleasant.
Thank you to NetGalley & Chloe Liese for the opportunity to read and review this book before it's publication date! This in no way affected my review, opinions are my own.
It's hard to go wrong with the Bergman series, and With You Forever proves it as another installment in this interconnected world. While it can be read as a standalone, I think it hits you hardest if you've read the previous Bergman novels (Only When It's Us, Always Only You, and Ever After Always).
I was so excited to get Axel & Rooney's story, and this DID NOT disappoint. Full of really beautiful moments that make you feel so much for each of these characters - AND it's a marriage of convenience?? Hello?? The best trope???
Don't think I'll ever stop recommending this series to people looking for great contemporary romances with a lot of real-ness and a lot of heart!
I love the way Chloe Liese writes characters with disabilities and neurodivergent characters. They feel like people you might already know. This book was romantic, emotional, and something I’ll read again.
I’ve been waiting for Axel and Rooney’s story ever since I first encountered them in Always Only You, and Chloe Liese DID NOT LET ME DOWN. I wasn’t sure how a marriage of convenience would work in a contemporary story, but not only did Liese make it work, she made it beautiful – it’s impossible NOT to root for these two, even as they work through their issues, both individually and as husband and wife. This book might’ve done what I heretofore thought was impossible: dethroning Ren as my favorite Bergman.
My one quibble was that I wish we had gotten to see the rest of the Bergmans finding out about these two crazy kids getting hitched, but I think that’s more of an indication of the strength of the world/family that Liese has built more than anything.
I love these books so so much, y’all. Steamy, tender, thoughtful stories populated with characters who are diverse in so many ways. Whether or not romance is your thing, I would encourage you to check in with the Bergman clan and get to know them – they are SO easy to love
The Bergman Brothers series always feels like a warm hug when you need it the most. Chloe Liese writes such realistic, heartfelt, and just plain heart-wrenching romances. This is a contemporary romance that employs the marriage of convenience trope and like all of Chloe's books, this one will definitely make you cry when you least expect it. This book features chronic illness and autism rep. It's so fun to see Axel and Rooney fall for each other for real and explore the connection they can't deny.
