Raised far from London society, does Ariana Lytton even have a chance to secure a good match in the short time left in the London season? Ariana has secrets of her own, and when a potential match is presented, a dashing Viscount, no less, she must decide whether or not she is willing to sacrifice what little independence she has found to stem the tide of scandal that threatens to sweep her away.
A new author to me & I found this to be a well written entertaining read which kept my interest all the way through. Strong characters & a well paced story had me reading this on a wet afternoon. I look forward to reading more from the author

Lessons in Scandal by Avery Maitland is a well-written Regency romance full of the behavior and attitudes of the ton. It was a story like many other, but for some reason it reads differently. Constance Blackwood is a junior lady-in-waiting for Queen Charlotte and it is a constant battle to keep the queen entertained. Constance proposes a matchmaking scheme and the queen loves the idea so she get busy making a match between Lady Ariana Lytton and Colin Ashbury, Viscount Rafferty. Ariana has just joined her father's household, being the base born child of a laundress. Her mother had died during her birth and she had been raised by a laundress who had known her mother. She was really sick of that life and so she contacted here father. Her father's wife had taken her in hand and was trying to give her enough polish so she could make a good marriage. It was difficult.

Colin had come home from the continent because his father insisted. Now the old man wanted him to take a wife. Never. Colin, like all romance heroes is good looking and resistant to marriage. Other than that, he's a good guy and proves to be an excellent man. Ariana is hung up on what she sees as the lie she is telling. No one else (except her stepmother and her son) seems to care about it. It is really an amusing story watching the two of them circle one another before they are both willing to admit their attraction at the same time, and agree on how to proceed. The plot is full of nuance and detail and the addition of the Constance Blackwood component makes it all very intriguing. A good read.

New to me author Avery Maitland writes a story of two women. Constance is a junior lady in waiting to the Queen. She needs to stay in favor with the Queen so that when her brother is old enough to take over his estate, she will be able to have connections to help him succeed. Constance tells the Queen that she can predict which people will match up with each other. Constance decides to match up her friend Colin to Ariana who is the daughter of an earl. Ariana is the illegitimate daughter of the lord, but her stepmother and father are trying to keep that a secret. If Ariana does not make a match she will return to her impoverished life as a laundress. Many secrets prevail, but love overshadows all obstacles. I look forward to the next book in the series. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.

Overall, I did enjoy this story, but it took me quite a while to get into it. I really did not connect to Constance at all but enjoyed Ariana and Colin well enough. It was a fun read but I don't know that I'll be reading the next in the series.

Enjoyable and entertaining read, set in the Queens court, our heroine is Ariana is Her Majesties lady in waiting and gains all the best gossip .
She’s a spy in the highest circles of society .

Her only setback is being illegitimate and that becomes a problem when a Viscount wishes to court her.

It’s a good book that’s got great characters and storyline.
Looking forward to more.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

Constance has become a spy for Queen Charlotte who craves gossip and secrets. Arianna is the illegitimate daughter of an earl, who has secrets too. Will the truth ruin any hopes for a true love? Fun story, delightful characters! Great read!
