This has to be one of the best books I've read recently! It had me totally hooked so much so that I let my dinner burn more than once. The writing is really engaging, the plot and characters just will be setting up home in your brain until you get to the end of the book. I've just finished this and the 1st thing I did was Google the author and download the rest of her back catalogue. I can't say enough good things really

Nowhere to Hide is a mystery/thriller by T.J. Brearton. The story follows an FBI agent named Shannon. She is headed to the north country to spend time with her family, but instead comes across an idling car and a dead body.

I’ve been looking for a page turner and Brearton did not disappoint. Each chapter left me on the edge of my seat, and it was difficult putting the book down. Brearton did a wonderful job tying up loose ends, but also leaving enough up to the reader's imagination. Another thing I really enjoyed were the chapter titles. Rather than having a name for each chapter, Brearton used time stamps. I found this very creative, and it added a nice touch.

This was my very first introduction to Brearton’s work and I am looking forward to reading more. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mysteries, thrillers, and an overall well told story. Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

A really good book with a great lead character

After reading Nowhere to Hide by TJ Brearton I found out it was book four in the Shannon Ames thrillers and will definitely be going back and reading the other three.

A really easy to read book with nice little narratives which give you more insight in to Shannon which I hope to find out more about.

Fast paced but not complicated hope for more in the Shannon Ames series.

I really enjoyed this book - it was real written and with a strong female character. There were a few plot twists but nothing was too far fetched and it felt incredibly real. The story developed well and I enjoyed how the entire book was the course of just over a day, which meant things progressed quickly and kept it interesting. I liked that it was not too gory and the crimes were believable. I have not read the others in this series but this was a great standalone book.

A really solid crime novel, thank you so much for the opportunity to review.

Good one! This was a good read for certain and even though it was clear there had been a previous book featuring Agent Shannon Aimes, that didn’t detract from this plot. It stood all on its own.

Agent Aimes was in the wrong place at the wrong time being caught in the snowstorm from hell and then wrapped up in what appeared to be a robbery gone wrong. However, it wasn’t quite as simple as it seemed and Aimes needed her skills, stamina and smarts to solve this case. Which she did nearly single handedly.

Clearly, Aimes carries a whale of a load of guilt from her past, and the deaths in this situation only added to her burden. However, the fact that these losses bother her so profoundly and remain with her only adds to her humanity and likability.

Thank you Net Galley!

I really enjoy this character, and now with that ending I need book 4 NOW!

I think I would have liked a little more closure but I see where the author is going. And I was sad about Benji…

The plot was intricate and man I was cold just reading it. Looking forward to more.

Nowhere To Hide – TJ Brearton

FBI Agent Shannon Ames is heading home to upstate NY from NYC to see her family, when she’s forced to make an unscheduled stop due to a raging winter storm. Finding a car on the side of the road, she finds a dead body beside it, with a bullet hole readily visible. Heading further into town hoping to call for help she stops at a gas/convenience store only to find another body and a frightened clerk, Nick, huddled in the back room of the store.

Chloe Bixby, Nick’s girlfriend, is babysitting for a neighbors three young children when a strange vehicle drives into the yard. Unsure of who it might be, she opens the door, only for a man to force his way inside. Trying her best to protect the three children in her charge, she attempts to placate the man, who seems to be waiting…for what?

As Shannon attempts to call in local and state police for assistance, she learns that all roads leading into and out of Long Lake are blocked, due to inclement weather and accidents, and that she’s on her own. A quick look at the video tapes in the store let Shannon know she’s looking for two men – but why did they shoot the lone shopper in the store? And where are they now?

As Shannon works to put the pieces together, a killer is working on staying one step ahead…but she’s right on his heels and there’s nowhere to go…

This was another new discovery for me thanks to Netgalley and I was hooked from the very first page, reading it in it’s entirely today. Shannon Ames is an intelligent, likeable, no-nonsense law enforcement officer, who finds herself mired deep in secrets of a small town, but who also gives you glimpses into who she is as well. While this was my first introduction to this series, it will not be my last – I can’t wait to read more of this new (for me) series!

I received this book as an Advance Reader Copy from #Netgalley & Inkubator Books in exchange for an objective review.

This was my first TJ Brearton book and it's not the last! I have already borrowed the previous books in this series on kindle unlimited! This book was fast paced and had my heart thumping extra hard several times! Whew! I was completely surprised by who the "bad guy" was, which rarely every happens! This book was just SO good!!

On her way to upstate NY for a little R&R, FBI agent Shannon Ames comes across a dead body on the side of the road. Her investigation is hampered due to an ongoing snow storm that has closed all the roads into town, possibly trapping her and the killer, with no help on the horizon. This is the 4th book in the series, but it’s my first foray in this series, and it’s definitely a stand-alone since I didn’t feel like I was missing any important information. This is an easy, smooth police procedural, with a few twists. It’s a perfect entertaining read to help pass a lazy afternoon, but no new ground broken here. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my goodness! I honestly don't know what to say about this book! In order to write a review, one must share how the book made one feel! I've got to tell you that this book (and Shannon Ames) had me going left and right, upside down and all around! The author did an excellent job in describing the characters, the setting, and the plot. I felt as if I was running around in Shannon's shoes, literally.

This is my first time reading about Shannon and I guess it's time I go back and find more of her stories. She was a one woman army, taking care of crime situations happening without any help (except for Benjie). I fell in love with Benjie and I think she did too). I'm not sure if I can say she is a badass in the review, but she definitely is. She was Jack Reacher, John McClain (Die Hard), and Jason Statham all in one! The story had me going from the get-go...there was no stopping this young woman! By the time I finished reading the book, I was exhausted. I couldn't sleep because I was still running! That, ladies and gentlemen, is what makes a book. You've got to read it, please!

Thank you #TJ Brearton #NetGalley for providing AC of the book.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Inkubator Books for an advance copy of Nowhere to Hide, the fourth novel to feature Special Agent Shannon Ames of the Brooklyn-Queens FBI Agency.

Shannon is heading upstate to visit her family when a severe storm forces her to stop in the hamlet of Long Lake, but that’s after she finds a dead body at the side of the road and another in the local shop. She soon realises that she is hunting a pair of brutal killers in a storm locked town.

I thoroughly enjoyed Nowhere to Hide, which is an action packed thriller from start to finish. It isn’t the most sophisticated read as the motive to it all is obvious, not getting caught, but boy, is it entertaining. I should point out that there is a fairly high body count and some generally nasty behaviour so it might not suit all readers, but for those with a strong constitution it’s a difficult novel to put down, mostly because of the non stop action and twists.

I was impressed by the way the author pulls his plot together and makes it seem effortless. One event leads to another logically and gradually Shannon is able to grasp a bigger picture than the one originally suggested, that is, when she’s not fighting, either physically or with guns.

I like Shannon Ames who is smart and dedicated without any of the cynicism that normally accompanies such characters and, in fact, she is still a little idealistic about the job, doggedly determined to get justice for the victims. It’s kind of sweet.

Nowhere to Hide is an entertaining read that I have no hesitation in recommending.
