Free Netgalley book for review! Average but not bad overall despite some gripes. It was all a bit too emotionally wrought for me. The main character, who is admittedly a backwater farm boy, makes THE DUMBEST decisions ever, and acts far more like a twelve to thirteen year old than someone sixteen years old.
Other than these gripes it read okay. I found the plot a bit meandering, and the main character needed the villain to do stuff to even have a bit of direction and move along the story at all, or it would have stalled for good. The stuff about the Family was interesting and Andru was cool.
I’ve also been teaching myself to play the harp so I wanted to really love the touchlyre and it was my main impetus for reading this book. I mean it’s basically a mini harp you never have to tune…. 🤔 but it became a bit too magical for my taste. 😬😅. On the other hand probably not going to read a book with a sci-fi setting and a harpist every day……
